Mantras have ranges?

Why do Mantra of Lore and other mantras have a range of 450 in the tooltip? They're not ground targeted skills. They are cast at the player's position with, I'm assuming, a radius of 180 as per the tooltip. Did they used to be ground targeted and they just didn't remove that from the descriptions?

The FB mantra impact target in front of him in a cone, the radius is the width of the cone and the range the maximum distance I think.

I think the radius is really a circle around the character.

As far as I know, mantras for firebrand apply to both, an AoE circle around them and a cone in front of them. The range describes the range of the cone here, the radius describes the size of the circle.

It is both. If I remember correctly it is 180 circle and 360 frontal cone.
