Hellmasker put this video together! Thank you, Hellmasker. 😎

Guild Wars 2: [RACE] Beetle League Racing Team | 2023 Spring Beetle Championship!

Msg from Hellmasker, I am very honored and grateful to have been invited to host this year's Spring Beetle Championship! Enjoy!

The racetracks:

[INDI] Maguuma Expressway was built by Chavyjav, its a downhill race starting from the canopy of the gilded hollow, going all the way down to the central waypoint where we have the finish line. It's a classic downhill fullspeed run where racers will try to maximize their top speed with hyperboosts on long straight sections and long aerial drifts off the side ramps, with several up- and downward spirals in between to switch up the pace. Watch out for the final corner, where you can lose a lot of speed if you dont pay attention and lose traction right before the end. Race time is between 4 and 5 minutes from start to finish.

[VAW] RatzFatz racetrack is a track made by Fussel. It is a highly technical and vertical track, starting high near the ceiling, going down and then back up again. There is a lot of variety in the techniques that the racers want to be good at for this track, and they have to work hard to maintain the speed in any sections. The optimal racing line can be pretty sharp, where missing it will result in loss of speed for large parts of the track. The uphill section of the track features some awesome long upward curves that the racers will have to drift upwards on to maintain their speed, which is not easy to construct at all, so much credit goes to Fussel for creating this masterpiece. Race time between 3-4 minutes per lap.

[GDT] Raceway, The Dragon was built by Dyers of the Green Dragon Tavern guild. A more traditional real world racing track but curvy for the Beetlesque environment. An EoD "water" Dragon design because it is so curvy. It is a fairly beginner friendly track as it is well protected by barriers across most of the track, and there are many boost orbs present to increase maximum speed and to guide you along the upward section. The track is a short circuit going down and back up. Racers want to focus on optimizing their racing lines and take the inside of the many 90 and 180 degree turns, and a couple 270 degree turns. Race time between 2-3 minutes per lap.

It is actually hard to apply those advanced drifting techniques. You got to be very sharp and timed your drifts perfectly.  See the constant speed barrier breaks at above 110? These pro racers just made them look easy 😮

Great race everyone!  GRATZ 🍾🥉🥈🥇

Thank you for putting this up Dyers.

I know what happened to some of them not being able to make it but that is their personal real life area... So all good. 🙂

Killer was there.

The beginner friendly statement concerns with how ultra smooth the track is with no bumps, except for the piece of the mountain protruding and the ease of use with protection from falling off in most places, etc,.. A teaching track for high speed racing. I am a racer so I placed distances to what they should be to keep speed up for max distance from boost to the ability to turn/drift after the boost had ended, etc,.. If you hit boost at the beginning it would end at the correct time before the next turn so you could turn/drift; around 2 long tracks in distance. Some places you don't need a boost anyway as the previous action got you there for the following turns. Arydae is the only one that that I saw that got the placement of orbs with track placement distance correct; the return up with her hyperwiggle for example. I tested the track hundreds of times. Raced it and walked it for error searches. Took me a few months to get it just right. A track where you can learn all of the tech's in a relatively safe environment. Wanted a more traditional racing track where everyone could go as fast as they can yet curvy for the Beetlesque environment. An EoD  "water" Dragon design because it is so curvy. I don't know if people got that from the name and design. 😉

Placing this in for posterity as the event thread will no longer get updated.

Ooh wow, I love that downward spiral tracks @ 2:05 💗 I have been wanting to build one but I have already hit the 2000 decor limit. I have seen and tried out TDM cyclone tracks and I really really like it but too many pieces are needed to build even for a smaller version. Sad.  But now I think with this two-piece build, I may be able to squeeze one into my racetrack 🙂

As always, thank you Dyers for posting this 🙃

Edit : I believe I need at least 70 ~ 80 tracks to make the cyclone looks good. 40+ is tops I can do, 70 is too much to to give up. Sigh 🙁

Currently trying to make mount tracks to test and refine mount-riding skills in my guildhall.

I highly appreciate those videos, both for inspirations and the technical solutions for e. g. drift curves. My greatest fear is to run into the decoration limit, as my GH is already quite ... stacked with other stuff 😅.

Great videos and awesome racing tracks!

I believe all of us agree, deco limit is a pain... 😒

When you finish the track will you let us know? Many members love trying out new tracks. Can always join RACE too. 😎

Hey, I did some changes to my tracks but I didn't go for that cyclone design 🙁 I have many structures in my Hall and I will have to sacrifice many of them to make room for that spiral racetrack. Many of the pro racers converted their Guild Halls into a Race Hall so they have less fear of hitting the limit. [WET] is a private guild with a beetle racetrack in our Hall stacked with decorations and interactive structures and also, my tracks are not built for perma or maximising top speed run.

edit: keep those videos coming. please don't stop 😇
