OldChappy.2170
GW2 is coming to Steam, any hope of being able to play it at work on the Steam Deck? 1
Katsugankz.7156
I've been able to get it to run really well, I get above 30 fps in most areas, though I haven't done any world boss content or anything on it yet. The controller stuff is awkward to set up at first, but the steam input system is incredibly good and you can definitely set up an entire control scheme that works for you without too much effort, but you'll likely need to do it yourself due to differences in people's control schemes. It works, though, quite well. I imagine they won't have much issue getting it steam deck certified when the time comes. Danikat.8537
I don't have a Steam Deck yet, but a while ago I did plan a control scheme for it and I think it would work. I know several people already play with a controller and even without support for the more specialised inputs like touch pads and gyro controls it works. The one thing I'm not sure about doing is Bell Choir during Wintersday. I normally use the number pad for my skills and had to set up secondary bindings in a straight line just for that because trying to mentally convert it from one layout to another threw me off. That wouldn't be a problem except that Christmas is when I'm most likely to be away from home for long periods with enough down time to play GW2, so it's when I'd be most likely to play on a Steam Deck. (Especially now my nieces and nephew are old enough to want to use the Switch.) Other than that the Steam Deck is running a Linux OS with the Proton layer for Windows compatibility, and I know some people already play GW2 that way so I can't see any reason it wouldn't work. Now you know it runs well on Steam, you may as well install Linux on your main rig 😄
