Cast signet of midnight to safely finish downed opponent?

What the subject says - can i use SoM while channeling my finisher?  I know AoEs can still hit me while stealthed, just want to see if this is an option.

Yes, you can. If you are running staff, Staff 2 + Blink is often a safer option.

Yes signet of midnight is good for stomping, even better when traited to give distortion. And yes during stomp animation.

You can also interrupt with F3 and mantra of distraction while stomping to prevent their cc skill.
