Spectacular sphere trait

Am I crazy? I thought the earth sphere granted resistance when this trait was selected, but now its just protection and aegis. When was this changed? I can't find anything about it in the patch notes

 

EDIT: SORRY FOLKS i didn't realize this was a pvp only thing. guess i've been in pvp/wvw too much and i tried to pve..

Earth realty should be support stab and water should be resistances. In at least wvw/spvp.

I would really love to get my resistance on spectacular sphere back in PvE. First of all the resistance is alot more powerful in open world& negates some of the inherent open world weaknessess of the elementalist. 

For instanced PvE aegis can be nice, but cata is in general way to much stuck in a set rotation to properly time their aegis. Ontop of that its hard to communicate with your healer who's going to provide aegis/stability for a specific attack, especially since aegis should be casted just before the attack lands. 

Its current adaptation also doesn't make much sense in combination with the often picked sphere specialist, since the avg duration of aegis in most of PvE will be 1-3 seconds anyways. The resistance on earth sphere gave cata a unique feature as boonsupport to be able to provide decent uptime on both resistance and resolution, making them synch better with builds that rely on traits that add a dps buff per boon applied (like f.e. bountiful power or premeditation). Whereas the aegis buff mostly benefits the willbender virtues build only. 

I think changing it back to resistance would be considered a nerf by the majority of the instanced PvE community. That being said i think resistance would fit the class and the way the boon is applied alot better then aegis. It would give cata a unique spot and speciality compared to other quicksupports. (Just like scrappers superspeed, herald's boonextend, FB's immediate access to stabi/stunbreak/aegis, harbi's insta ramp up elixir.

True. Aegis is a strong boon, but the requirement to attune to earth (+the energy + the ground target) doesn't suit the practicality of the boon.
Resistance is better in the sense you can easily upkeep the boon in your rotation for your needs; but somewhat low value for instanced content/pve (you just expect condi cleanse from allies).

And something like vigor feels way to weak for so much of an cost for the water F5.

Don't worry , anet said they gonna get rid off cast off cooldown utility skills for important boons like aegis , stab , etc ...

Well better rework the whole catalyst then , haha... (cringe laugh ...)
