Reworked and Renamed Spellbreaker

Since Arenanet currently hates boonrip, I had an idea to just fully rework Spellbreaker into a boon-abusing specialization. It could be called Spellblade or Boonblade. All the traits and abilities dealing with boons/boonless foes will be reworked:

Pure Strike is renamed into Enchanted Force. Deal increased critical-hit damage for each boon on you. 5% per boon, with a maximum of 15%.

Dispelling Force is renaming into Enchanting Force. Crow Control effects you apply to foes now apply might to you. they also apply Stability for 3 seconds (10 seconds cooldown on the Stability).

Loss Aversion is Renamed into Golden Rush. Applying boons to other players grants you Adrenaline.

Sun and Moon Style: Right hand strike damage is increased per boon an you. 3% per boon, with a maximum of 15%. Left hand critical damage to healing is increased to 5%.

Attacker's Insight: Gain Insight when disabling foes or applying boons to other players.

Enchantment's Collapse will be renamed into Additive Enchantment: Applying a boon to yourself or another player adds another random boon. This will randomly apply three Might, Fury, Protection, Swiftness, Vigor or Regeneration.

Break Enchantment will be renamed into Enchantment Strike. It'll grant the increased damage, if you have three or more boons on you instead of granting when you rip boons.

Winds of Disenchantment will be renamed into Blessed Sphere. It'll now pulse all boons to allies instead of reducing boon duration and ripping boons. If Harmbinger is allowed to have Elixir of Ambition, my Blessed Sphere is fine as well.

I haven't thought about how well it synergizes with core Warrior and whether this might have a chance at giving Warrior decent DPS, but I thought it's better to drop it on the forums than to let it rot in my brain.

In my opinion, this quick idea aligns adequately with the current boon-rip hate and boon vomit philosophy the game has sunken into.

Interesting ideas. I’m opposed ideologically (the actual ideas would be really fun if they didn’t replace current spell imo). I like spell. I like boon rip. I don’t want my boon rip spec to become a boring boon-application spec like all the other classes in the game.

I was unironically suggesting giving Alacrity to Spellbreaker before they decided to give it to Bladesworn.

Here's my proposal, though, which can make it continue to be an anti-booner specialisation even with boonrip gets substantially cut down: take a leaf from Warcraft 3 spellbreaker and steal boons. Every skill that loses boonrip in the new balance paradigm instead copies the same number of boons from the target to the spellbreaker. The more booned the enemy, the stronger the spellbreaker gets!

I like the idea of boon-ripping, too. But I simply can't find a place where it'd be useful to me.

Open World and Story PvE don't have many boons to make use of the boon-ripping. WvW and sPvP reapply boons too fast to make use of the "against foes without boons" traits.

And with Arenanet making specializations more and more the same anyway, it might just be a matter of time before Spellbreaker becomes a victim.

But this is just an idea that popped up in my head while I wrote my idea about changing for Natural Healing in the other thread. This is not necessarily something intended to be put into the game.

Currently in fights of up to 3 people, boon rip still can play a very impactful role. But yea, as the numbers scale up, boon rip gets left behind and boon application scales linearly.

I just blame the ineffectual nature of boon rip/counter on the underutilization of the mechanics in their own game. Give spell a minor trait that applies 1s disenchantment per boon removed and you’ll se a real counter to boon output. (Also return disenchantment to its original effect).
