ShadowBandit.6532 Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I recently upgraded to a GTX 1080 Ti and have been doing some catching up on Living Story 3 to prep for the Path of Fire expansion next week, and I noticed some really bad artifacting in some places that I didn't have with my previous video card, a GTX 970. It looks a lot like the shadows are flickering, and in extreme cases they turn into a pixelated flickering mess. I did some looking around and I found this thread "Graphic corruption with Nvidia 10XX cards" from the old forums dating back to almost a year ago. The last post is only 10 days old, so I can only assume this has been an issue for a very long time. There are a lot of picture and video examples in that thread showcasing the exact problem I'm having, but with the new forums replacing the old ones soon, I figured it would be a good idea to start a new thread.I recorded a short snippet of what it looks like on my setup: This is with the latest NVIDIA drivers (385.41) in Draconis Mons up by the Prisoner's Perch Point of Interest. In the video, you can see that the lower right side is basically a pixelated mess at certain angles. Changing the Render Sampling from Native to Subsample makes the corrupted area bigger, and changing it from Native to Supersample moves it down near the bottom of the screen. Turning shadows from Ultra to a lower setting removes the corruption by removing dynamic shadows from objects entirely...obviously not a real solution if you want to keep visual fidelity. Here's hoping the devs can come up with a solution for this ongoing issue and that it doesn't get buried away with the old forums!
ravenomega.5937 Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Yeah, it's nearly everywhere in the game. I've been contacting support and putting up threads here for about a year now to hopefully get them to fix it because it's extremely annoying. It occurs almost everywhere and I'm surprised the fixes they put out didn't address them at all. I've tried it on 4 different GTX 10 series cards and they all have it.Some of the areas (There's probably tons more)-The Amnoon Oasis – Building with Trading Post and Bank, and Casino with Choya’s fighting-Ascalonian Catacombs Dungeon – The entire dungeon is pretty bad especially at the end of Path 3 with the Giant Skelk.-Sorrows Embrace Dungeon – Most of the dungeon-Chantry of Secrets – Giant globe, floor shadows-Underground Facility Fractal – Most of the fractalVideo of what it looks like:
Rayti.6531 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 There's another thread about it on the old forums, which contains some replies by someone from ANet (apparently QA):https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/bugs/Lighting-Issues-Game-Update-4-18/page/3#post6739645I and many others posted our graphics settings, graphics card types, driver versions and screenshots there in order to aid in finding the problem/a fix. I certainly hope that something is being done about it since more and more people will be using GTX 10xx sooner or later. I just hope the information in that thread didn't get lost with the forum migration...
