Unlocking elite specs through WvW

Greeting everyone,

As of now, unlocking elite specs through wvw takes too long, at least for new/returning players who don't have their WvW rank in thousands. As such I think acquisition from skirmish chest should be increased up to 10, maybe 12. What would you think?

P.S. I know that you can quickly unlock specs by doing hero points in expansion maps, still unlocking through wvw is an option.

Not sure I agree. I have a guildmate that is new to GW2, just starting at rank 1 and after pre-chatting they are seeing how its easy to max level alts and open elite specs via Heroics. Not sure a boost is needed watching their progress in a short order of time.

I don’t see this either, I got heaps of the heroic tokens very quickly when I started.

If it takes too long (how long is too long?), then try another way.

I do the HoT maps. Only hp runs, and am specced.
Blish HUD -> pathing -> Tekkit has paths for hp runs (Griffon or Skyscale needed).

I use the heroic tokens then only for hps I couldnt do (e.g. I was alone and too weak to do that hp, after so many alts I dont even try then anymore, if theres no other help I just pass by to the next hp).

HoT = 40 hps = 400 points for speccing.

How easy is it then?

I used to use the lvl 60 scroll and then xp books for the rest, or take part in the bauble farm in verdant brink before the nerf.

Well the new player in guild had a single toon and then after a few weeks of partial play had 3 to level and elite of choice unlocked. To actually quantify it, let me think on that and try and measure ToK build up and Skrim chests. After 32 toons, I can say you don't actually need to go to PvE to get HPs done. WvW will give you what you need to level in short order and to unlock elites.

I think it took me about.. a few days at most to unlock most of Spectre in WvWvW...?

I just traded the green bauble things at the Hero Trader which ranked up points I could spend on the tree/circle.

So for forum lurkers as a a reference in case also how do you level up in WvW, in the Skirmish Chests there are Proofs of 'x'. There a number of types overtime as expansions are released but the vendor allows you to trade one type to another if needed. They can be used to unlock hero points across the various expansions which can be used to unlock your elites specifications if you own the expansions that those elites are link to. They can also be used for core classes as well to be fair.

As my new guildmate saw in short order, once you get one toon you will see the buckets of the above you get to fast track new toons to max level without any grind needed. Want to try class 'x'. Build one, use 80 ToK and then theory craft away.

Pre-build what you think might work before you craft or acquire gear, see what your stats and numbers may look like before you spend currency. Aka don't make our mistakes.
