I can login normally with the origin login guild wars icon but when I try my account name and password on the stream one I keep getting this error code

They can block a specific launcher because the one that I installed from Arenanet works fine, the one I installed from steam doesn't  its not accepting my login info, I need it to work since I bought expansions there?

Are you trying to log in to the Steam version with your original Arenanet launcher login info? If so, that won't work. Your Steam versions are not connected to the original Arenanet launcher version.

What you're wanting isn't possible. You can't buy the expansion on Steam and have it apply to your ArenaNet account. As for the error, it's case-sensitive: -provider Portal

My current setup of GW2 is via Steam. I installed the game there thinking I could just login with my Arenanet account credentials, but Steam wants you to make a new account, so that all purchases go through them. What you can do instead is right click on the game in your Steam library, select properties, and then type -provider Portal into the launch options. That will bring up the launcher where you can log into your whatever account you'd like.Also, as was said above. Don't buy expansions or anything else via steam if you're not playing the Steam account version. They will just be applied to that one and you would have wasted money. If you're using -provider Portal, Steam is just opening the stock Arenanet client and you can buy gems, expansions and other content in game.
