Yes is does get boring playing ANET's favorite class they play which does pretty much a little of everything from all the other classes. Any class build discovered that can beat it - they nerf it. Right now Willbender is the thing now.. wait till they get their double pistols during beta it did alot of damage.

Skill issue. It's totally balanced that Willbender can shadowstep to you from behind a wall if there's the tiniest hole in it or up a very tall cliff like DnD's Sacred Flame. It's totally balanced they can spam Aegis and Protection and Resistance while still having high kill power. It's totally balanced they can blind you even through invulns (granted that interaction is a general blind issue).

You're actually correct, just not for any of the reasons you stated, OP.

Tempest does have a broken build right now, comparable to cele death magic harbinger (but harbinger can get away with anything and will never be nerfed, unlike elementalist, if elementalist does anything right then it must IMMEDIATELY be NERFED!). Of the few who even know of this specific build config, few can play it correctly and most just get frustrated/give up because even the easiest most bull-crap ele build is actually still more difficult to play than other classes, who would've thought.

Doing damage while healing and being mobile with stability is not a unique trait (no pun intended) of elementalist. Does Guardian come to mind? Just as one example, since Willbender does all 4 exceptionally well - arguably much easier/with less effort and to a greater effect, even.

What you're describing is a good elementalist player. Someone with way too many hours on their ele character(s). I hate to say it but you are, as you feared (😅) just experiencing a skill issue. Getting top DPS in your pvp match is nice and all, but that's a lot like getting a participation trophy.

tl;dr elementalist is supposed to be high skill floor high skill ceiling; if a day-one absolute new elementalist player autoattacked someone to death many would still say elementalist is overpowered and it wasn't their fault or the ele's skill.

After the update tempest getting nothing in wvw but an nerf to its blast relic heal put the class at the end of its use in wvw for group play. Scraper now fill the tempest roll with its barrier support and durid is just raw healing. Its an real shame too as tempest is a much higher risk class then scraper and druid in both class type (low hp / armor) and use of its class skill (channeling overloads.)
