Catalyst hammer...undecided

Because of the orb mechanic I don't see hammer being a ranged weapon even if there are ranged skills. I always felt like I need those orbs to be hitting things so I stay in melee regardless. To bad I can't do something like command the orbs to circle around an enemy and debuf/damage them. That would be a cool ranged mechanic.

I still have problems with the slow animations (earth 2, 4, 5, fire 4, 5, air 4) and knowing which orb I have active. Wish that was easier to track other than knowing which attunement I've already cycled through.

The orbs do just enough damage while orbiting to count as a strike for energy generation, that's all. If you're not playing catalyst, it really doesn't matter if your enemy is being hit by the orbs or not. You might be missing out on a few dozen dps but not anything significant.

Give the fire and air skills more range and projectile speed, and using fire and air for ranged while water and earth can be drawn on in melee would be a workable system.

Did ANet acknowledge it at all like they did for the new weapon proficiency? I want to at least hear their rationale.
