Lithril Ashwalker.6230
Incorporating Lead, Off-Hand, and Finishing Attacks for Thieves The recent addition of the spear for thieves in Guild Wars 2, featuring the unique lead, off-hand, and finishing attack mechanics, has introduced a fresh and engaging playstyle reminiscent of the original Guild Wars. This mechanic not only deepens the combat experience but also enhances the strategic depth of the class. Expanding this system to all thief weapons could significantly enrich gameplay, offering several compelling benefits. Benefits of the Expanded Combo Mechanic 1. Enhanced Strategic Depth: - Skill Sequencing: The introduction of lead, off-hand, and finishing attacks encourages players to plan and execute skill sequences thoughtfully. This strategic layer demands precision and timing, making combat more engaging and rewarding. - Adaptability: Players will need to adapt their strategies based on the situation, whether they are in PvE, PvP, or WvW. This adaptability adds a dynamic element to gameplay, as players decide the best sequences to use in different scenarios. 2. Class Identity and Uniqueness: - Distinctive Combat Style: Thieves are known for their agility and precision. Incorporating combo chains across all weapons reinforces this identity, distinguishing them further from other classes. The system highlights the thief’s expertise in exploiting vulnerabilities and executing calculated strikes. - Lore Consistency: This system is rooted in the thief's lore as cunning and tactical fighters. The combo mechanics can be seen as an evolution of their fighting style, blending elements of stealth, agility, and precision. 3. Increased Build Diversity: - Weapon Synergies: Different weapons will offer varied combos, encouraging players to experiment with diverse builds and find synergies that best suit their playstyle. This variety will keep gameplay fresh and exciting. - Trait Integration: Introducing traits that enhance or modify combo chains could lead to innovative builds. For instance, traits that reset cooldowns on successful combo completions or enhance the effects of finishing attacks could create new avenues for build optimization. 4. Player Engagement and Satisfaction: - Skill Mastery: Players will experience a sense of achievement as they master the complex mechanics of combo chains. This mastery is rewarding and encourages long-term engagement with the class. Edited June 25 by Lithril Ashwalker.6230 4
Asur.9178
Know what else it will also increase? Effort required by balance team to balance Thief. Considering how little effort they normally put in to balance and bug fix Thief problems since 2012, this increase in effort is completely unwanted. That also means the changes you are looking for is not going to come...ever. You will play stealth spam thief and you will like it - else either go play a different class or go to another game. This is not pessimism, but mere reality.
