Janthir Wilds Warclaw Acquisition

Is the warclaw in Janthir Wilds going to be locked behind a strike mission or some other unattainable event? I have yet to unlock the siege turtle because I am never able to join the strike mission needed to obtain the final piece. It's very frustrating to have nearly everything needed and never be able to complete the achievement.

You don't need to do the strike mission to get the turtle; haven't for a while. You can buy the thruster control unit for 1k research notes and 500 imperial favour from the requisitions specialists in Gyala. A grind, but doable, and for people like us who don't care for instanced group content, better than the alternative.

As for the warclaw, it seems like it'll be somewhat important to the story, so it's unlikely it'll be locked behind strike missions (or similar). Probably, like the SotO skyscale, it'll be a combination of a treasure hunt and spending a ton of gold and materials. If we're very lucky, it'll be like most PoF mounts and just acquired as you play.

We can probably expect the collection to be a similar investment to the current WvW collection (so 8g and something around 8 hours of gameplay.), as to not make one method massivly more easy than the other and give players a fair choice.

of course this is PvE, so that '8 hours of gameplay' will probably be a collection of 6-8 events across the map, and with the information that the first map will have no Meta-event and focus more on exploration like the original core maps, we might see renown hearts return with collection items to make up the 8 gold cost (4 hearts, with items valued at 2g?)

but we'll have to wait and see.

As someone stated, they changed the reqs for getting a turtle before even SoTo came out. You no longer need the Strike mission

Warclaw is likely going to be an early gain in the first map. I don't think we are getting strikes this time and raids are a later addition to the expac.

Getting the warclaw in WvW is not that hard, even for a beginner in that game mode. The only trick to it is finding a squad that will let you run along with them to get the required achievements done. And that's a matter of going to team chat in WvW to ask if there is a squad willing to let you join them to get your mount. Some squads/commanders are more than willing to help, others of course are not. Just ask to see if you can find a helpful squad. GuildJen has a pretty straightforward guide for getting a warclaw in WvW. Like the other folks here are saying, I wouldn't expect acquisition of the warclaw in JW to be too painful but there is a reasonable alternative available right now.

One can follow a squad/zerg without joining said squad in WvW.  That's not necessary, at all.  Just follow the Commander tag.

So far, there's been no mention of the warclaw being auto-unlocked on JW maps like skyscale was in SotO, which makes me think the unlock will be much quicker and more straightforward, possibly even part of the story itself.
