Maybe they're adding a new halloween collection that ties a bunch of ghost npc backgrounds together.

Was thinking "What relation could Greywind have to Grahm" so I double checked who Grahm was.

Man, they really white-washed him between games.

From this: https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Grahm

To this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Grahm

Paled his skin, removed his tattoos, and gave him a beard. Also made him seem smarter... So that's one plus I guess? The beard isn't too shocking since he died a full 11 years after Prophecies: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tombstone_(Hidden_Lake)

Guess they could find a way to tie in the Ascalonian refugee leader Captain Greywind to a random Krytan mercenary in events post-Prophecies. Funny that the thing that Grahm is stuck as a ghost about is tied to the Prophecies quest eleven years before he died. That's some guilt over not finding a wind rider to gut its corpse for a job he was paid to do.

Oh and looking further Grahm isn't even the weirdest change with the Hidden Lake ghosts - one of them, also an NPC from GW1, died over 140 years after Prophecies somehow... Hah.

Wait till you see what was done with all of Kryta, including the White Mantle.

I am aware of what was done, but there is a VERY distinct difference between making 5-plus-generations-later different skin tone (still disappointing it was done) and the very same NPC different skin tone. Especially when those multiple generations includes a large amount of refugees of a white nation flooding in (resulting in both a natural whiter population as well as intermarriage), climate changes caused by ancient eldritch entities, the population shifting from shoreline (which would cause more tanning due to higher exposure to sun both directly and from water reflection) to further inland, and magic knowingly messing with evolution.

Again to reiterate, the whitewashing of Kryta between GW1 and GW2 isn't good. But there's actually a foundation that gives it some minor credibility. There should still be a larger population of Mediterranean-tanned individuals than straight up white Caucasians beyond Jennah and Livia though.
