micro.9514
Or is it still impossible to get a name that is actually normal. Played at release for a hot minute and considering getting back in, but even back then it was nigh impossible to get a name that just sounded like a decent, plain name. Zania.8461
Due to the nature of the buy to play game, ANet does not want to alienate people who reserved the names then took a break as some of those people might come back and complain about losing their names. Thus it is highly unlikely that the name situation will ever change. Best you can hope is to create decently sounding first/last name or title/name combination. micro.9514
The first and last name suggestion I assume is possible because the game allows for spaces in names? I remember whatever my dude's name was was only one word. Pardon my ignorance, I don't even think I go out of second human zone when I first played. RoseofGilead.8907
Yes, you can have spaces in your name, allowing for a first and last name (or even a first, middle, and last with short enough names).
Donari.5237
Even as of the recent betas I was able to name alts normal sounding things. My key runners when I make those get ordinary human names with "Key" embedded somewhere in them and the only one of those that was taken was Keyroy Jenkins (and that was the only one I tried to make a popular reference with). I even made up an Elonian one-word name for my new Deadeye, Taheefa, and that wasn't taken. It's entirely possible to find names that fit the lore. You can toss in spaces, have a three word name (so long as you keep to 19 characters total including spaces), use an honorific or a nickname or a title. Please don't let naming be the thing that keeps you from this game.
Lonecap.4105
You just have to think a little harder. My advice for picking a name is to go for a "title" sounding name. Use thesaurus to help you think of and combine words. :)
micro.9514
That actually helps quite a bit with the spacing. Thanks, all.
