Unlocking Raid Masteries [NA]

Recommended Posts

It's getting pretty depressing running fracs every night and being pretty much the only one still stuck at 251. I've listed in the LFG for months trying to find a group doing Escort willing to take someone new to raids, and I've yet to receive a response. I never see training runs for Escort or Trio. I've joined multiple guilds that advertise raids, but it's always turns out they never have slots available if you're not part of the cliques, and/or they raid super late on weekday nights when many of us cannot attend due to work in the morning. I can only play for the first 2-3 hours after reset on weekdays unfortunately. Weekends any time, but because of the Monday reset, it seems all that's left on weekends is afk sellers. I have 10 fully ascended characters so that's not an issue.

I have no idea where to go from here. Any specific suggestions that don't entail buying or lying?

Unless you actually raid, you have 0 reason to unlock the raid masteries anyway, especially since November 28th patch; The Raid Mastery track, if locked, will now be hidden. This has been done to allow players who do not participate in raids to gain experience toward Spirit Shards. Completing any encounter inside of a Heart of Thorns™ raid will unlock and make visible the Raid Mastery track.

You don’t need maxed Mastery points to play the game how you want to.

If you want to actually start raiding, you should try looking for a Raid training guild/initiative rather than a full blown raid guild (which will have its static groups), you will have better luck in them.

I only did 1 raid, to unlock the mastery track (escort, indeed). Before starting, I've read several guides/walkthrough and watched many videos. I joined a guild, hoping to go there with someone, but no one was interested. So one day I put a post in LFG "Escort for practice - First timers welcome".It was just a post to make some experience and check first-hand if it was doable, before paying some group for the achievement. The party filled very quickly. We were almost all noobs, so we died a lot and we had to restart 7-8 times. Someone left, some other joined, until an experienced mesmer joined as well, and he took the lead from me, luckily (I was the only one who had read something about the instance, when we started). We still died several times, but I learnt a lot, playing both the tower/upper part with him and gliding down to help the others. It was funny. And in the end we completed the run :)

So, my advice is: don't wait for other people. Start you own group, stating that you are not experienced and want just to make some practice. I'm sure there are still many players in the same conditions. It might be funny!
