how come mender serimon is a secondborn?

If you read Scarlet’s story mender serimon is helping scarlet after she awakens because he is a mender. But Scarlet’s also a secondborn. And in the Newly Awakened they all seem to be born at the same time. Does this mean Serimon started helping other sylvari the second he was born? Am I missing something?

Secondborn weren't born at the "same time," but over the course of weeks, possibly even months (it's not clear how many Secondborn there are, or the timespan between awakenings). Serimon was likely one of the first Secondborns behind Caydern, while Scarlet one of the latter ones.

Also keep in mind that Scarlet being a Secondbron is probably a retcon. They had altered Scarlet's background time and time again after her reveal (said reveal including the short story What Scarlet Saw) so when they wrote the short story it might not have been established internally that she was a Secondborn.

Here is a quote from newly awakened to support Konigs claim.

For all we know Serimon could have awakened right after Cadeyrn as he states he has been awake for a few months, other Sylvari are awakening and are still considered second born as well. Serimon could have been tasked by the first born with other second born menders to welcome other Sylvari as it appears to a regular thing in the past few months. Ceara herself seems rather new and could have been days old for all we know.
