@mortrialus.3062 said:The nerfs to Mirage and Chronomancer have been almost point by point ones that that I recommended, for you should all be grateful to me and my suggestions.

Only, the Mirage fix was horrible and didn't fix the underlaying issues of the spec. The Nerf to Chrono was also just numbers, which was never the issue with the build. So I'll hold off on thanking you for just a bit. And here I thought I was obnoxious.

Neither those were my recommendations, which is why they were not good changes.

You can be wrong. I'm okay with that.

So what nerfs were you talking about? Mind filling us in?

My post history is right there

Also you're derailing the primary subject and getting into the weeds. MMORPG forum posts are the absolute worst place to gather opinions about anything as it primarily attracts biased and bitter people.

(If you want a specific example, rebalancing torch skills to have longer duration at the cost of stacks so they aren't dumping 10 burning on people was specifically my suggestion that caught on here after I pointed out exactly what those skills were doing damage wise. You're welcome.)

My honest review is that, actually, Schwahrheit is right. Nerfing mirage is one thing, but you still have all other builds.

Fact is, the game is correct at top level but is tough on average rating. Reaper, mirage, holo, deadeye. All share the same issue : as a side player, you cannot prevent the spike from happening on one of your teammates because of stab or other buff.I wish on teamfights i could totally individually mark the reaper and shutdown him to help my team, instead of being forced to see him potentially down someone the 3 seconds he will enter in shroud. That's quite the same for other builds, and probably the source of all complains on forum.

Nope, no arguments here. Just a statement that is receiving more likes than your OP post.

Argument ad populum isn't a real argument either. Not that I'm taking either side.

You're correct sir. Ad populum is not an argument but rather inarguable statistical data that indicates a popular opinion.

statistical data? Mob mentality more like it.I'm not gonna touch some of the worst examples of "popular" opinions and substituting them for facts. But i will ask you - is Titanic the best movie ever made?

Except that you're talking about professional commercialism hype organized to make dough at the box office. This thread labeled "My Honest Review Of The Mesmer Changes" is displaying the personal opinions of players who are posting in a video game forum, after actually playing the video game. And every page to date going back to page 1 in that forum is 30% to 50% comprised of player discussion concerning the class balance of Mirage very specifically. I certainly think that any reasonable person would acknowledge that this is true, and the reasons why it is true.

Look, Arenanet has taken so long to flatten out these mechanical issues that put Mirage in this position that players are beginning to NOT care about if a patch is proper or improper but rather that it hurts Mirage in general. This mentality is also fueled by the dynasty of Mesmer/Chronomancer specs that have spent much more time in the #1 meta position than any other class/build, rivaled only by the fabled D/D Cele Elementalist. Arenanet has also historically allowed completely broken Mesmer specs to exist unchecked for enormous durations of time without any patching at all, sometimes for full seasons. We all know which builds I'm talking about, the truly game breaking ones like Chronomancer Bunkers with bugged recharge Mantras. Other classes have never been allowed to do that for longer than a week or two.

In light of these facts which mind you are directly responsible for shaping the community opinion, we can see that community opinion was never supposed to be a truth to begin with, which is why it is an opinion. But rather it is an indication of a truth that lies central and primary to those opinions. I wonder what that truth might be? Well whatever it is one things is certain, 90% of the player base is absolutely sick and tired of dealing with Golden Mesmer builds, the Goku amongst the Street Fighter characters.
