Cows goes moo.5960
Which is better for pve and pvp? Also, which is better as a secondary: torch or shield? I'm currently rolling with power DH.
CptAurellian.9537
I'm just talking PvE now, not PvP. If you want to run around in the open world, it hardly matters whether you use GS or sword. GS is a bit ahead in a bunch of aspects , but not so much. For group content, GS is part of the highest dps build for DH, while sword isn't. If you run around with a one-hand weapon, choose the offhand that fulfills your aim - they all have a different focus. Torch does damage, shield offers defense and CC, but definitely no damage, and focus ... well, somehow doesn't really have focus in its design. Probably the weakest offhand in PvE. daath.1725
focus 5 do give you blocks, I think it is a nice panic button.

RabbitUp.8294
For open world pve, I'm using sword+focus/GS. Sword 2, focus 5, switch to GS and use 2, and now everyone it dead. That setup also gives you a lot of defensive and utility options. Blinds, blocks, cc, 2 mobility skills, condi removal, projectile denial. For group pve, scepter+torch/GS do the best damage.Pvp, it depends on your build, visit metabattle for guides, as it's not as straightforward. GS in general is a bad option, though, because it's a purely offensive weapon.
