Inquiry: Fastest Gathering Tools as of 2021

Recommended Posts

Greetings fellow Forumers. My inquiry was: Which tools are the fastest currently? I have the Consortium Sickle which I believed to be the fastest sickle; in the past Unbound Logging and Mining was fastest but apparently there was a normalisation of the gathering tools?

Thank you for your time

Yours sincerely

As far as I know unbound mining + logging tool were tested to be fastest ; for harvesting it was consortium + molten alliance sickle tied

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unbound_Magic_Mining_Beam   - While on land, can collect up to four times in a single animation.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unbound_Magic_Logging_Pulse - Can collect up to four times in a single animation.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Consortium_Harvesting_Sickle  - Harvesting is done twice as quickly than other sickles

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fused_Molten_Sickle - The Fused Molten Sickle gathers in one second, compared to about two seconds for a regular harvesting sickle. Additionally, the sickle successfully gathers the node about 75% into the castbar, allowing the player to cancel the animation of following through on the swing.

There's also an oddity for the choya miner:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Choya_Mining_Tool - Strikes a rich node 5 times per use, unlike other unlimited-use mining tools.

Note that industry glyph cuts the time in half (on firestorm logging tool), so the sickles have the most value if you do not use the glyph. Basic sickle was clocked at 3.93 seconds while Consortium/Molten are 1.04 seconds with animation canceling at ~50%. Basic logging tool supposedly is 6.37s while the unbound one is 4.25s. Basic mining tool takes ~6.35s while unbound is ~3.53s with animation canceling at ~70%.

Thank you both for your replies. From my own research, it did say that Firestorm Axe and the Unbound Gatherers were the best options - though recently it had been changed so that all mining/logging tools can collect up to four times in a single animation.

My thoughts right now are currently on Firestorm Axe and Choya Mining - the 5 harvest would turn a rich node from 4, 4, 2 to 5, 5.  I currently have the Choya Logging tool and the Shifting Sands/Watchwork pickaxes - is the Firestorm/Unbound significantly faster than the Choya logging tool?

Thanks again ^^

Edit: Though if the Unbounds are still significantly faster it may still be best for me to wait for them to go on sale. Side note: I wouldn't be using the Industry glyph because I use the Watchwork glyph for extra gold~

I believe that volatile magic is the most profitable glyph right now , but for me unbound is worth it due to the heavy use of unbound magic for LS3 backpieces (at least until Legendary armory comes out) and LS3 aquabreathers from Bitterfrost Frontier (no legendary aquabreather yet so this is unlikely to change ... not about to craft aquabreathers). If you don't have Aurora yet, Unbound should be the way to go.

The Choya logging tool is likely regular speed ; same goes for shifting sands and watchwork pickaxes (definitely just as fast as basic). If you buy a faster tool you can transmute the slower ones to that skin. Choya miner is probably not worth it as the first mining tool unless you will only be using it on guild hall , home node , and rich ore node farms whereas unbound is worthwhile everywhere. The Firestorm logging axe is essentially only worth it if you use the glyph, there is no indication the animation itself is faster.

Once you buy the fastest tools then you can get whatever infinite ones are on sale if you don't feel like swapping inventory.

edit: I forgot to mention , quickness does affect gathering so if you gather with a quickbrand or StM chrono it is faster. The traits that affect attack speed also affect gathering as well.

Some examples:
20%  https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Malicious_Sorcery ... standard fare for condi chrono
20% https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dual_Wielding ...  but then you need to run Arms on a warrior

Hmm...looks like I'll be going with the Unbound set when they go on sale - thank you guys for the help ^^

I personally think the Watchknight glyphs are better than Volatile though: they are going for 2.7s each whereas Volatile magic I worked out wasn't as profitable, especially since the price of trophy shipments went down. If I am wrong please let me know~.

https://fast.farming-community.eu/gathering/glyphs

Volatile Magic - sickle = 1.61 silver per strike  , pays off in about 28K strikes if you buy glyph
Watchknight = 79 copper per strike since it's 33% chance , pays off in about 13.5K strikes if you buy glyph
Volatile Magic - Axe/pick = 55 copper per strike, pays off in about 80.5K strikes if you buy glyph

https://www.peuresearchcenter.com/gathering.html
Volatility - sickle = 1.51 silver per strike
Watchknight - pick = 69 copper per strike
Watchknight - axe = 67 copper per strike
Watchknight - sickle = 53 copper per strike
Volatility - axe = 46 copper per strike
Volatility - pick = 42 copper per strike

Ah...the fact that you get 3 times the Volatile magic per swing does significantly make Volatility better. Thank you for the info ^^
