How do you track updates?

Hi,

I'm a new player here and I'm also abit competitive and like to be on top of the updates and see what's changing/buff/needs.Where can i track upcoming changes or when it's due?

It's on top of forums. There's a big patch tomorrow, but not necessarily a balance one. Patches and small updates mostly come on tuesdays.

To add, the devs only occasionally discuss planned balance changes before they happen.

Every skill and trait also has a full history on the wiki.There's link on the top left navbar of this page or from in game, you can type /wiki or /wiki [typed skill name] or even /wiki [shift-clicked skill]

The release notes are probably the best way to stay updated on what has been added with the most recent patch. Usually after a week or two your usual suspects for competitive play, ressources like metabattle and the likes, have updated builds and benchmarks taking the most recent balance patch into account. For open world, story, and achievements I usually go to dulfy, the community kinda gathers all their knowledge there and she usually has walkthroughs, maps and guides for everything new within a few days if not hours after the release. The site also keeps you updated on gemstore stuff, often with better visual representation.

We usually get teasers for story or content releases but not much before balance or QoL updates happen. ANet tends to release big balance updates every 6 months or so and tweak things every now and then in between. Balancing can change a lot about a class, so it helps if you can adjust to playing different classes or use different skills/traits/gear depending on the changing meta.
