Update Standard Enemy Models to Include Elite Specializations?

Now that we're allowed to see class icons for Elite Specializations in the team preview and when targeting enemies, could we get new standardized enemy models when someone is elite spec'd so we can differentiate them at a glance from their other elite spec and from their core spec in game? It's kind of minor in the grand scheme of things, but I think it'd be nice. Have them use their elite specialization armor pieces, give them unique silhouettes, that sort of thing.

No, no, NO!The Standard Models have to be kept simple! It is already a failure by ANet, that the male Thief does not use the same armour as the female one and—on top of that—does have the same hair style as the male Ranger. Currently, I have to look twice, to identify the profession.

The SEM were introduced, to cure some of the many flaws of the competitive system:

  • barely visible animations (esp. on Asura)
  • wrong effect radii (depending on the character’s height)
  • outfits, which camouflage the profession/armour type
  • too many symbols for professions to be kept apart
  • etc.

It is bad enough, that ANet re-indroduces all these problems into the WvW again, since combat transformations/tonics overwrite the SEM/SFM, which should not be possible.

Therefore, only one armour set per profession! There is no need to make a system more complex, which was meant to be simple.

So here's the thing:

  1. Thief Standard Enemy Model can be fixed.
  2. Enemy models for elite specializations would still be human.

There are issues because now there actually are several classes with multiple builds using multiple specializations and you're now very likely to see very different builds of the same class in the game now. Core Thief, Daredevil, and Deadeye are all being run. Core Guardian and Firebrand are being run. Reaper and Scourge are being run. And in the heat of the moment it would be nice to visually see the difference between which is which right away just at a glance, especially with the latter two.
