Mount XP?

Recommended Posts

Somewhere I read where mounts acquire XP, and certain numerical levels are required to obtain certain masteries/capabilities.So, how does the mount acquire XP, and where can you find the current level of your mount? And, can the mount acquire XP as you are levelling up, or does it only acquire XP doing level 80 activities? Thanks in advance!

Mounts don't earn XP like in some games where the more you use the mount the more XP it gains. You can "level up" so to speak, your mount buy earning mastery points and XP which you can then use to give them a few more skills. Doing so is based on your character and XP earned by playing in the PoF maps and isn't something that makes the mount itself earn XP. Basically what you do is once unlocked you select the track you want your XP to go toward and once full if you have the mastery points available you can unlock that new mount skill. Your character has to be level 80 and in a PoF map to do so.

Mounts are part of the Mastery system.

You can improve Mounts by leveling up and unlocking their mastery lines.

That said, you can only level up masteries with a lvl 80 character.Lvl 1-79 characteres can use mounts as well as any "already-learned" mastery since mounts and masterys are account wide, but since they are still below 80 they won't be able to level masteries by themselves.

Hi,It seems someone has been confused about the mount XP -- what they really mean is Mastery experience, which is gained in areas based on what masteries they are. For your mounts, it's a secondary line of experience after Lv.80 in the Crystal Desert area.

To gain experience, you have to be training a mastery. When you fill the experience bar, you unlock that mastery using Mastery Points. These are often scattered throughout the area, or are rewarded for completing tasks (you can see some of them in Achievements tab -- marked with a purple icon). Getting new mounts unlocks mastery lines for those mounts.

You can train masteries in different lines. The XP gained for the line usually remains for a mastery if you switch to another. This is useful esp. if you want to spend your mastery points on something else.

And as @SoulSin.5682 pointed out, you don't need to be Lv.80 to use the mounts. You just need to be Lv.80 to earn XP towards the masteries. Once you get a mount, it's unlocked account-wide, so you can use your unlocked mounts on anyone!

Hope this helps. And if something doesn't sound right, please donate some caffeine and help out, too.
