YOU'RE A WINNER!!!

There has been a lot of talk recently about how Anet could improve their income quickly (though I personally think it would take drastic measures to only correct something that would end up being too little too late). One of the annoying things about GW2 and a lot of other AAA games right now that have cash shops, etc., is that players are inundated with RNG. Loot boxes, of course, are the one that a lot of people point to in this regard. It's also known that one of the reasons companies go for this model as opposed to a direct cash->purchase-exactly-what-you-want method, is that they make a LOT more money with RNG. It's also known that one of the reasons for this has to do with the physiology and psychology of why taking chances like this is addicting in the first place. When you get that shiny item, you get a feel-good rush which has a tendency to make people want to "play again". Likewise, when you don't get anything good, there is the "maybe next time" factor as well, that draws a number of people back (sometimes immediately). One thing that has surprised me over the years, is that Arenanet has not added a visual factor that other players can observe when someone gets a rare item from a Black Lion Chest. Yeah, I hate that sort of stuff, but the problem is, it works. Go to any Casino in the real world where they have slot machines. You can easily see when someone wins big on a slot machine, and you don't even have to be near them to hear that someone has won. The flashing lights, the sounds, etc. create excitement that entices others to play or continue playing.
I'm curious as to why that has not been implemented within Guild Wars 2, as it would potentially affect (positively) the sale of Keys.Again, this is not something I personally want to see, but the topics recently have been about "how can Anet make more money".

I'm pretty sure this would be a bad idea. Not only would it possibly draw negative attention onto the "winner", but it would deprive them of the choice of if they want to announce their luck or not.

And, of course, ANet doesn't distance themselves from the idea of BLTCs being gambling by copying the mechanics of a slot machine.

I'm sorry but I really am strongly against this. Do not forget this is a teen rated game and the fact that there are loot boxes at all in this game is pretty much the most unethical thing that ArenaNet has done as far as I'm concerned. You're basically throwing an "end justifies the means" suggestion at us and I frankly find it distasteful.

Besides let's just stop trying to "save" ArenaNet. They just need a bit of time to reorganize and supporting or encouraging predatory business practices is the last thing we need. Let ArenaNet save themselves ok? They didn't just suddenly turn into a bunch of toddlers that don't know how to be adults anymore. Give them some credit at least geez.

True. That would certainly compel them to not utilize that sort of system. Considering how effective it appears to be in RL Casinos, I thought it odd that they hadn't done that here. I am completely fine with this, it's annoying enough when using Tomes of Knowledge.
