ShaunIOW.1672
As per title, it says 100% chance of salvaging upgrades, I used it earlier on a Twin-Swords exotic with a Sigil of Force and it destroyed it with no Sigil just a few mats, so thats 600 gems wasted buying it and lost a 4g Sigil. Shikigami.4013
It salvages upgrades, it does not extract/recover them. Salvaging an upgrade gives you the lucent crafting material that you use to craft upgrades. Extracting/Recovering an upgrade gives you the upgrade. Thats what upgrade extractors are for (Black Lion salvage kits do it too).See also this thread: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/65636/bugreport-new-salvage-item-runecrafters-salvage-o-matic-bugsPS: The telling name "Runecrafter's salvage-o-matic" is a pretty clear indication that it is for people who want to craft runes (and thus need the mats for it that you notice getting). Illconceived Was Na.9781
it's a long-term benefit: the drop rate of symbols and charms is low, so it adds value only after 100s and 1000s of salvages. My most recent analysis of value of the Runecrafter's was done soon after its release and showed that it was extremely valuable compared to other options.https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/64720/which-salvage-kit-should-i-use-recommendations-now-with-data(I'll try to do another one shortly with more recent market data, but at first blush, I don't think the recommendations will change.)That said, if you just bought the item, contact Support. There's a good chance they will be able to honor a polite refund request if done within a week or three.
