How do you fix game crash after clicking play?

My game error is:

--> Crash <--
Exception: c0000409
App: Gw2-64.exe
Pid: 11392
BaseAddr: 00007FF6505D0000
ProgramId: 101
Build: 100690
Module: d3d9.dll
When: 2019-12-03T17:56:31Z 2019-12-04T03:56:31+10:00

I don't have the usual culprits;
Arcdps
Reshade
Rivatuner
MSIAfterburner

This has happened in the past but I somehow got past it and can't remember what I did(pretty sure it was another error then as well). I already tried repairing the game(obviously didn't work), and have sent multiple error reports due to this crash. If anyone has any advice that might fix this I would appreciate it since i haven't played in months and was looking to see the new changes.

    How does this information help me solve my game crash exactly?

    Well d3d9.dll is not a standard file from Guild Wars 2, it is not placed from the installation or during patching. Delete it.

    So... basically you lied, because you must have something that affects the game. Maybe an unusual culprit?

    Was I able to help you or give you a hint? Click on Helpful and/or Thumbs up, I would appreciate it alot!
    When you encounter a bug ingame, at first you should file a ticket via the ingame command /bug, as only this way the devs will know exactly where you were, when the bug happened.

    You delete or move it out of that folder.

    Mumble and Discord have also been common ones. Less specifically, it could be any overlay or anything involved with the graphics, including the graphics drivers. See the DLLList section in the crash log for more information on d3d9.dll and what other files are being used.

    d3d9.dll is a system file found under c:\windows\system32. It's also the file people use to mod the game, but that isn't necessary to cause a crash like this.

    Well okay that's a bit rude accusing me of lying but I'll overlook that. I've also had the game since it dropped so if I don't remember after all those years that I had something in there and deleted it a while later that's not my fault. I can only tell you that I have none of the files I mentioned not having.

    I have deleted it, it didn't fix anything. I didn't delete it at first cause I had no idea what it was.

    This is the dll List, and it's all greek to me...not sure if you can make heads or tails of it.

    Try disabling/uninstalling this one. (Mirillis Action! - screen recording)

    This was the culprit! Thanks so much for suggesting this to me. It's the first time I've ever had a problem with running it and GW2 together since I've recorded PvP with it, but apparently there is a first time for everything.

  • I have the same problem, I updated the game recently and this is the error:
    --> Crash <--

    Anybody knows what should I do?

  • That's not the same issue. You can try a -repair to the client. You can contact the Tech CS Team via the 'Support' link for assistance.

    Good luck.
