  1. Or, you could delete your herald, and play any other class. Who wants to play a class where the entire rotation boils down to spamming your facet skills on CD? It was better without quickness tbh.
  2. You obviously haven't killed Harvest Temple CM. You probably never will.
  3. I... seriously expected this post to be about drinking wine while zerging... 🤣
  4. If you need help, Shadowsite, to get the raptor unlocked, feel free to ask me if you see me online. You will definitely need help to do the starting mission in PoF because you will die if you go in there alone 🙂
  5. I usually get about 250ms ping which is just ok for playing casual PVE, but in the last couple of weeks it's gotten drastically worse, so that sometimes it spikes to between 500-1500 ms. This literally makes the game unplayable. I've run a traceroute and the packet loss seems to be occurring somewhere in the middle, i.e. not on my end and not on Anet's end but somewhere in the 30+ hops in between. I've had to turn off the game several nights this week in frustration. I realise the route to US servers is outside Anet's control, but isn't time they thought about a server group for the thousands of players in the Oceanic region? I would pay a whole other expansion price for that alone.
  6. I like this addition to the game. It’s incredibly smooth and seamless to change sets and builds. I love the extra inventory space that I have now, and I also like that you can swap stats and sigils on legendary weapons. I don’t agree at all with the people who say “it makes legendary weapons pointless” because it was a HUGE hassle to change stats and sigils manually before, but now I can just load different combinations into different sets and easily flip between them. I agree, however, that it is too expensive. People who have multiple characters will have to buy unlocks on all of them, and thus will quickly end up spending several thousand gems just to feel like they can use this new (awesome) feature. Overall, I’m very pleased with this QoL addition from arenanet, but the price should come down. ?
  7. Hmm, it’s difficult to answer, because for me, class and race is more about what kind of connection you can establish with your character. I tend to RP a bit in my head, but I really like the Firebrand, and really LOVE the Asura race. So that’s my suggestion. Firebrand is good for every game mode, and has a good rotation if you go for the burn guard. Although, for raiding, some people might recommend Dragonhunter instead. It’s also considered a new-player friendly spec, alongside warrior. Hmm, I’m not sure what else to say. If you like PvE raids, I believe Chronomancer, Druid, or Bannerslave warrior are also very good choices, so pick what you like! xD
  8. Hey, herald is tough to learn, so don’t feel bad! Here’s my tips. Sword/sword does incredible damage, especially with Impossible Odds toggled on. A big part of staying alive means killing things quickly, so learning how to get in, pop Impossible Odds, use sword 4, 5, and 2 in that order, and dodge back is a good way to burst things down. Sword 3 actually makes you evade too, so can be useful if you are standing in a damage zone. Bear in mind that it’s damage is split between targets so it’s not necessarily good for finishing off a single low health target. Staff is really only useful for cc and condi cleanse, I use staff 5 for mobility sometimes. Staff 3 is neat if a mob is casting at you, it blocks projectiles. If you are taking too much damage, it’s ok to back out. Again, Shiro is your best friend here. Use Riposting Shadows, to quickly dodge back out of combat, and then use Impossible Odds for the movement speed while kiting or running away! The dodge also breaks stuns and clears movement-impairing effects, so get used to using it as your panic button. It’s incredibly powerful! For getting back into combat, use Phase Traversal. It’s a good gap-closer, and makes your next attack unblockable. The Glint heal makes you immortal, literally. For 3 seconds after using it, try to TAKE damage so that it heals you, but get out before the effect runs out. Keep Facet of Darkness on at all times when in Glint, the fury helps you kill things quicker. Try to get used to legend swapping on cool down. I will usually prime myself for combat using Glint (get some fury and might stacks), then toggle to Shiro to deal the damage. Most questing mobs will be dead in a few hits from a furied up / mighted Herald waving two swords, with his Impossible Odds on! If you don’t have access to Glint yet, then use Jalis. Pop the stability (the brick road) before going into combat, then toggle the spinning hammers on to deal damage. The F2 for Jalis is strong too, keep it on for some extra defensive value! Have fun out there!
  9. Same. I quit WoW for GW2. Best decision ever, I am really enjoying the sense of reward and personal progression in GW2.
  10. I honestly share your pain, OP. Just to give some perspective, I only recently started playing gw2, after a long time spent in WoW, and I have to admit that I'm struggling with the overall complexity of this game compared to what I'm used to. And I'm a mythic raider, so that is saying something. Just to elaborate, in WoW you basically have a 7-point talent tree that hardly ever changes, you have a single usable weapon type that doesn't affect your rotation in any way, and your rotation itself might have 4-5 core skills and a couple of long cooldowns that are used 2-3 times a fight. Now in gw2, you have multiple weapons, all with different rotational abilities, you have a complex 3x3x3 talent system that changes all the time depending on your role and the content you are doing, you have a massive list of possible utility skills to choose from, and you have meaningful choices with regards to gearing and stat selection! I did a raid with a guild and felt miserable because I was just getting carried through it. I was asked to change to Quickness Firebrand to bring quickness to the group, and honestly just felt like my uptime was 20% and my DPS was negligible. And I died. A lot. I know I will get better, and I know this is my fault, that if I keep playing, reading guides and watching more, eventually it will all fall into place. But man, I just wish I didn't feel so lost! Anyway, I just wanted to share my story so the original poster didn't feel so alone. Keep going, and perhaps someday I'll meet you in the Mists...
