  1. I'm going to need you to not spout this sort of doomsayer nonsense. This is the kitten right here that gives people the false impression that they need to 'abandon ship'. Of course GW2 will still be online for many years even if there is another sequel. GW1 is still online and there ARE people playing it. I myself am finishing up GWAMM, only one title left to go. Even at a casual pace, it will get done.
  2. The reason they don't buff that type of content is because it would reduce the feasibility of said content to the casuals, which are the primary demographic of this game. Just because some of us have optimized gear, builds, and stats, does not mean that every else around you is doing the same thing. You might be doing 30k damage, but I guarantee you that some around you are doing maybe half that because they are casuals. Not everyone is optimized nor cares to be. Let people play whatever builds they want, however they want. There's no need to force casuals to use the so-called power creep. You forget that to this day there are people who are relatively new or haven't played in years and will not be dishing out 30k damage with a single hit. Maybe we 'gods among insects' should stop using our raid rotations in PvE and stick to auto attacks only so that the casuals can get credit, too... OR Instead, what they should do is adjust the scaling of level 80 players in lower level zones. It's a scaling issue, not a power creep.
  3. You know what, I completely forgot about Polymock. Thanks for the reminder lol
  4. There's no need for that. It is old content that most people don't actively engage with. It's only active right now for the bonus achievements. I myself only returned briefly to that content for the bonus, and I finished so I wont' be returning to that map for a long time. It's not a dead map, per se, but most people are done with that map. The only thing that buffing those enemies will do is make it so that casuals, who probably aren't using the so-called power creep, will be forced to use the so-called power creep. Give it a few days, it will be back to likely not having enough people to even attempt the legendary sand giant.
  5. IF they make GW3 and IF they introduce something similar to the Hall of Monuments, it should be just like it was from GW1 to GW2: purely cosmetic in nature and NOTHING that gives veteran players an unfair advantage over anyone starting fresh. IF they did implement something like that, then instead of Hall of Monuments, it should be called Refractions of Aurene.
  6. It's not meant to be difficult, per se. It's only meant to be a goal that takes a large chunk of time and resources to accomplish to ease accessibility of legendary armor to casuals. It's mean to be something that people work on over time for many months. I don't understand how it took you 2 years when I saw other people brag on the forums about how they can get full sets of WvW legendary armor in a matter of weeks. I don't know what the kitten they're doing differently from you, but you should have a talk with them. You did the WvW way because that is the content you enjoy doing. I refused to make the WvW armor because I don't enjoy that content. I managed to make 3 obby sets but that's only because I spent months farming essences every day, doing map completions and lantern runs, opening hundreds of great arcane chests, doing 3 different map metas enough times and earning enough map currency to get to 90 of those map rewards, and forked over almost 11,000 ectos. That's eleven thousand if you can't math. It's certainly not 'easy' nor cheap. It takes a lot of work. It just might not be as time gated.
  7. Don't know. Don't care. Doesn't matter. Go to the Palworld forums to talk about Palworld. Or, GW2 can keep doing it's own thing. It is an established franchise that does not need to copy other games. Maybe someday there will be some MMO that implements some great new system that no MMO should be without, and then ArenaNet can copy that system in GW2 if they want, but Palworld isn't that game.
  8. Dude you keep trying to draw parallels to more and different games. What more do you want? You got your answer: GW2 is not equivalent to Palworld. They are separate games, each with a different target demographic, running on completely different business models, with vastly different gameplay. Stop playing salesman. This is the GW2 forum and we are here to talk about GW2, for all its successes and failures. Go to the Palworld forums and offer your praises of that game over there. This is not the place for it.
  9. How is making a product that people continue to pay for not a viable business model? Isn't that the whole kittening point of a business model? To keep customers engaged with new products, services, or updates? They have money coming in, and enough of it that they can keep making new expansions. They gave us 5 different Living World types of content for absolutely free (only cost money after it was no longer freely available and some people still bought it). I'm guessing your idea for a viable business model is one that creates wealth in excess for a select few through the exploitation of its workers and customer base. If ArenaNet's business model was not viable, they would have gone under before HoT.
  10. That is an opinion you are having. Fact is the majority of the player base is casual and does not view WvW as a make-or-break deal for the game as a whole.
  11. That's what expansions are: new releases. That's also what the in-game store is for. They keep creating content that people are willing to pay for. That's all they really need to do. If they decide to make a GW3, it will be when they deem it necessary. Today, it is not necessary.
  12. Neat, so Palworld is just an amalgamation of Pokemon and Fortnite; one franchise that has been popular for decades, and the other franchise was the last flavor of the month. Gee, let's take parts of two very different games and combine them to see what comes out. Sure, Palworld may resonate with some players, but that does not mean GW2 is equivalent to it nor should it be. This is one of those live and let live situations. It's better that GW2 and Palworld each do their own thing. There is no need for every game to be as similar as possible to each other.
  13. Yes, flavor of the month. Sometime soon there will be new fad that comes out and these very same people you're talking about are going to be saying "Ok stop looking at Palworld, look at what 'gameX' is doing. Let's copy that and see if we can make some quick cash off it." WoW did it with their dragons expansion after GW2, and Valorant did it after Overwatch and Battlebourne, and Sekiro did it after Dark Souls. Path of Exile did it after Diablo 2. Does Palworld have ideas that GW2 can benefit from? Maybe, but I don't know since I never played Palworld, but I doubt it. Should ArenaNet stop what they are currently working on and give us Pokemon in open world to catch and battle with? Absokitteninglutely not. The two games are not equivalent. Let palworld be its own thing in its little corner and leave GW2 to us.
  14. They aren't innovating. They're a Chinese-based for-profit entity. They rip off successful ideas and pass them kitten their own. All they are 'inspiring' to do is to rip off successful models in an effort to make a quick buck off anyone dumb enough to buy their knockoffs that will likely come loaded with micro transactions.
  15. People have been saying it is a dead game even before HoT, so stop being a doomsayer because it has been said by countless others for over 10 years. Just because a game is 11 years old does not mean it is unplayable. Dated does not mean useless. You're obviously still playing the game after 11+ years. The day none of the group content at any point in time on any given day can be done due to low player population is when you can start to parrot the doomsayers. You use the term 'gamers' too strictly. There is a WIDE range of gamers, and GW2 appeals to the majority first and foremost: casuals. It has been good enough for us all these years, and it will likely continue to be good enough for a few years more as long as they keep producing content worth playing. That has NOTHING to do with the game engine's age and everything to do with the quality of the content itself. You forget that even some games from over 30 years ago are still worth playing. Even now, there are people who STILL play GW1. I myself still log in on occasion just to replay a game I enjoy. I am 1 title away from GWAMM and will be working on it casually over the next few months until I finish it. 19 years old and the game is STILL worth playing. That is the testament of what ArenaNet can do.
  16. That's what I'm waiting on: 2 legendary rings that are not tied to raids, pvp, or wvw.
  17. Already talking about a GW4. Geez man hit the brakes. There is still a lot they can do with GW2 and now that they are no longer tied down by the dragon cycle they can go literally anywhere without having to create a GW3. The only reason GW2 came out was because GW1's engine limited the developers on what they wanted to do (like jumping and active dodging). When they realized they had to heavily modify the game engine, they went ahead and made GW2 with it. GW2's engine is a heavily modified version of the GW1 engine. Aside from fancy lighting and better graphics, there really doesn't seem to much that the GW2 engine limits the developers purely from a gameplay standpoint. SotO is just the first large bit of content that isn't about the dragons. Give them a chance to see what they can do before you go demanding GW3 (much less GW4). I'm not saying GW in space is a bad idea, I'm just saying let's not be quick to abandon ship and start demanding GW3 when it's not necessary. I don't want ANET to take an unnecessary gamble spending tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars for GW3 unless they had the plan, intention, and capability to make it so that it blows GW2 out of the water. If they do make a GW3 (possible, yes, but not really necessary), I want it done right. Space be damned.
  18. A full expansion based purely on WvW is a bad idea. A large chunk of the player base would simply not buy it (myself included). You could simply ask for new maps/objectives as part of a normal expansion to further incentivize its purchase. Now, as far as your "Let the PvE players suffer like I've suffered", do keep in mind that WvW and PvP together are maybe10% of the entire game's content, if that. Like it or not, the vast majority of the game's content is PvE and its associated content. WvW and PvP together are just not important enough to justify basing an entire expansion to sell, as neither of these modes are meant to be the primary/only reason to play GW2. They are supplementary content, not primary. It's great that you enjoy the content, but for most players WvW is just something we're required to do to get Gift of Battle. That's it. It's not meant to be the thing you do all day every day. Also, kitten PvP. I have members in my guild who do PvP on the regular, and you know what I see in guild chat regarding PvP? Nothing but pure misery and disdain complaining about how people are not team players or getting kitten talked by someone else. It is NEVER "Wow, that was a fun PvP match!" It is always "This is the kitten that pisses me off..." or "kitten this kitten, I need to take a break for today." PvP brings out the worst in people, period.
  19. That event can easily be done solo and in about 2 minutes tops. I would instead ask that that particular event be more consistent and clear about how to get it to start.
  20. I'm still hoping for a title about making quaggans extinct. That being said, I think it might be nice if every legendary weapon had its own unique little title. Something like "Asgeir's Pride" for Frostfang, or "Not your sparkly vampire" for Twilight. I dunno, just a thought.
  21. Doubtful. A psychologist would know the meaning of the word 'equivalent' and know that it is the wrong word to use to compare these two games. What little credibility they would have had is gone. I'd just dismiss this whole thing as trolling for the lulz.
  22. Meh, I'd rather they just add more GW1 weapons and armors. Still waiting on Elite Kurzick Warrior, Vabbi Paragon, and Elite Druid armors.
  23. Meh, it's okay. Not great, not terrible. I appreciate that they are trying to build a whole new story that is not related to the dragon cycle, but I feel like they should instead reconcile other issues in Tyria that are not the Kryptis. The inquest is still a thing if I'm not mistaken, and surviving Sons of Svanir come to mind. Plus, Taimi is still supposedly dying and we still haven't gone to the Domain of Winds. This expansion has enough in it to enjoy some modest play time in the form of legendary equipment, achievements, strikes and associated rewards, and an alternative way to get a skyscale mount (especially for that price). It still feels a little hollow, though, but that is probably because we haven't gotten all of it yet. We can't justifiably give this expansion a verdict, but based on what we currently have and know, it's just okay. Here's to hoping the next (and final) major update hits it out of the park. I would keep my expectations low, though.
