  1. Came here to report the same issues... Ignaxious failed 4 times in a row by squads that would normally have melted him with time to spare (3 of them having previously done Knaelbelag successfully, although without being able to break the defiance bar).
  2. Agreed - I've been saying this for months... I also have 4 PvE-flavoured guilds and a 'personal guild-bank', none of which I'm prepared to give up ...it's never mattered as the guild I mostly run around with in WvW has never cared about repping but now I almost certainly won't be able to play with them any more as there's no way for me to make sure I am in the same alliance. In fact none of my guild have enough active WvW players for any of the guilds to be welcome in an alliance . I also don't understand why anyone would be against the idea of a single, extra guild slot given that this change has been imposed after so many years - you'd get the extra slot too. Or they could make it optional ...you know...buy an extra guild slot for 500gems... that's the GW2 way :P
  3. Problem is identifying who made the portal I guess :/ Yeah - the problem is that using portals is now the de facto strategy on Drakkar to make sure there are enough people for each of the champion split phases. Usually there are several (either mesmer or White Mantle) portals thrown down. The only 'absolute' fix is to prevent portals working on the split phase and I don't think that would make people happy either. The trolls have to place their portals right on the edge of the cliff and generally they're not so suicidal as to throw themselves into the void as well; thus anyone that uses the portal and moves without looking which way they're going will fall to their death but you can avoid dying by not moving the instant you exit the portal - just take a second to orient yourself and if it's on a cliff edge just back away slowly. P.S. The really annoying griefers on Drakkar are the jerk rangers that pew-pew the 'elite' Svarnir mob on the first phase through the wall geometry. More than once they've managed to but out the whole encounter because no one can hit the damn thing once it's behind the wall, so there's no way to get to the second cave.
  4. Okay that makes sense thanks - I don't think I've ever opened a BL Chest that had 5 slots ;)
  5. The notes for today's update seem to indicate that the 'new' Black Lion chests should have 5 slots."Inside each Black Lion Chest, you’ll find a guaranteed Fine Black Lion Dye Canister—Blue, a redeemable Black Lion Statuette, and two common items. You might also find something rarer in the fifth slot, like exclusive items, glyphs, and skins from the Plasma Weapon Collection and Fused Weapon Collection. "The ones that I opened only had 4 slots though.... is the 5th slot a lucky dip extra or is this a mistake in the above text? It's a bit misleading anyway...
  6. yup I have the same low res effect - mostly noticeable on the TP buy / sell transactions logs
  7. Try using the standard issue Invitation to the Festival of the Four Winds which does work correctly for me
  8. Yup - it did the same to me from Lab Cliffs to (presumably) the Crown Pavillion, which is what the new 'standard' party invitation does
  9. Also can't connect to login servers... I wonder which mount skin shall I pick this week? ;)
  10. Also getting the network error issue - I've tried 4 characters so far, all in different maps...result is the same ...times out after about 35-40s and reports the network error dialog.[edit] worked eventually on the 6th character - seems ok now.
  11. Whilst true, the point is that a VM can run on any hardware that's capable of supporting it. I don't know what Anet's arrangements are vis data centres, but if there's been a hardware failure (and I'm dubious that that's the explanation here), then it isn't that big a deal to move the VM to another piece of hardware (presuming there's spare kit in the datacentre they're using!). As I've already said elsewhere, I just hope they give us some sort of proper explanation of what went wrong, and not simply a vague "Yeah, we know what happened, fixed it, and we've taken steps to stop it from happening again". Yes I know - sorry - I was being a little flippant and overly brief … it's just that some people assume a VM works like magic :-D. I am also dubious that it's something as simple as a hardware failure - there are usually many levels of redundancy and consistency checks that will alert admins to there being a problem long before the system falls over in a virtual smoking heap. If we're lucky Anet will tell us what happened once they're done putting the jigsaw back together
  12. implying they were even in the office at all.. pretty sure they have been work from home for the past month and a half. Depends, if a server went completely dead, hard to replace that from home. If some hardware adjustment were needed or a back up tape needed to get changed, hard to do that from home. Because everything is like in the cloud nowadays, doesn't mean you can do just anything from a console at home. ;) I suppose all their server are virtual machines, so could be done remotely. Maybe the time is needed to check consistency and identify what caused the rollbackVirtual machines still run on actual hardware somewhere :) Especially when you need to store nearly a decade's worth of game data for an MMO as large as this one
  13. The last time there was a rollback was August 2016 - IIRC that one was a little more 'controlled / intentional' than this one thoughhttps://massivelyop.com/2016/08/24/guild-wars-2-suffers-technical-difficulties-pushes-out-birthday-presents-following-yesterdays-rollback/
  14. Can confirm on the new player part. Got the game like 5 days ago, spent time and money during the weekend on it. Lost 3/4 of progress. Not the experience I was looking for. Not the best experience I know, but as someone who has played for getting on for 8 years I can say that these occurrences are almost as rare as Quaggan appearing on Mastermind. The time it happened was in 2016*, and on the plus side, goodies were forthcoming in response :)https://massivelyop.com/2016/08/24/guild-wars-2-suffers-technical-difficulties-pushes-out-birthday-presents-following-yesterdays-rollback/ Edit: also, this just in....https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048145813-Account-Character-Rollback-Issue-5-11-2020- *a rollback, not a Quaggan appearing on Mastermind... like that could _ever _happen...
  15. Yes it's annoying, but in the scheme of things it's only a game. Remember there are people out there dying from the crappy virus that's forcing us to sit at home playing games instead of doing our day jobs, and even more people who have are working double shifts at their day jobs caring for those sick people. Perspective is important ;) That is a completely different issue so take your perspective and shove it. Okay... if they don't fix this I've lost progress on a number of quests (including a lege weapon), at least 300 gold from the weekend's raiding / fractals / trading, plus probably another 200 gold of materials that were on the TP, 2000 gems (traded for in-game gold) ...and that's a bare minimum. And while yes it sucks, it doesn't take away the fun I had playing the game on Saturday / Sunday with the only friends I get to interact with these days, nor is it all that important in anyone's real life... if it is that important to you I would say you need to get out more, but that's probably a bad idea right now :) As other people have said, anyone that's lost real money in terms of cash->gem/gold purchases; those things will be tracked independently for audit purposes, so reimbursement is almost certain. The rest of it is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. I have 45 characters that I use, character progression is important, gold not so much. Takes time to set each character up and the logistics of getting/making the equipment needed and setting the skills to be used, I don't use other peoples set ups. If roll backs started to be a more common thing, there would be no point in playing this game. I appreciate you have your own perspective on this matter, which is obviously not the same as mine and I don't require you to tell me how I should think, so best leave it at that. No... I understand your frustration... I really do. I also have several characters (although not as many as you) and builds I'm working on and I know that sinking feeling you get in your stomach when something like this happens all too well. I was just trying to share that, whilst it is a total pain-in-the-proverbial, it's worth remembering that it's just a game. As everyone (on the EU servers) is affected I'm sure Anet will be doing everything in their power to get the database sorted out as soon as possible. AFAIK this is the first 'unintended' rollback that's happened in the 7-8 years I've been playing. It's not a common experience (there was one a few years ago that was necessary and announced in advance - they don't do this lightly because they're fully aware of how invested we all are in their moving pixel show). [Edit] - after a bit of digging, the last rollback was in 2016 …https://massivelyop.com/2016/08/24/guild-wars-2-suffers-technical-difficulties-pushes-out-birthday-presents-following-yesterdays-rollback/
