  1. Anyone that played since launch knows that all the classes had to be balanced around thief. I imagine its not the same dev team anymore. The old team threw logic out the window in favor of class themes in such a way that every other class had to pass a thief survival test (which for a long time necro never did).
  2. Type Ctrl + F and search "escape". If you do not see anyone other than myself mention Revs lack of escape consider this thread irrelevant and back away slowly.
  3. I forgot mobs AI ..mobs is a huge one its actually the main reason i stopped doing PvE. I dont think they understood how annoying it is fighting against intelligent players tht force you to be engaged in pvp and then going to pve to deal with really bad AI. The story script would have been fine if not for this. In fact the bad AI is why the story felt so boring not 100% with the script itself. However I think you are being unrealistic. Maybe its because you don't know whats reasonable to execute in an online game. Web based client, better graphics, better physics. There is a reason why downloaded games look better than web based games. Unless you want massive downgrades, streaming all that detail isnt reasonable. Upgrading graphics and physics isnt necessary and wont do anything to enhance the experience. For its time, GW2 is the best looking MMORPG. BDO came in later with better graphics, though the art style is completely different. For a small studio like Anet taking devs to develop VR is also not reasonable especially with VR not being mainstream yet. AI to be able to respond like humans? I dont know about that, also that is vague because humans do so many things in so many situations. They could make a vastly more intelligent AI. Maybe you are talking about something like OpenAI to look for optimal ways to drop the players health to zero with movement and skills. That would be interesting. One thing no one mentions is inventory management. This is also one of the main reasons i stopped playing. The filters, the sorting the salvaging. They could have done infinitely better with these things.
  4. They don't really understand how player movement affects combat. They kept designing skills to satisfy their own creative whims without considering how they will be used or abused.Shield bubbles that dont follow the caster.Clunky movements on necro that got it abused by thief. Slow is fine but it shouldnt be slow for the sake of thematicsspammable stealth, blind and teleports on thief that caused way more problems than it should have.Ventaris heal is very awkward in mobile combat. They kept trying to balance on extremes (evade or nuke everything or die, or tank everything or do no damage) which does not work In PVE legendaries are glorified skins, and not a good enough reason to keep me invested when my bought skins were already pretty good. The way the story was told was extremely boring to me. I think the writing was intended for a 10 year old audience which is fine. I just kept thinking, "nobody talks like that" and got bored of following the story after a while.

  6. People are missing the problem with thief. Its problem is that it was built to be extreme. Extreme damage, extreme mobility extreme disengage. Everything about it is extreme. To counter this devs said ok, we will also make it extremely vulnerable to damage. That type of short sighted thinking is what led to literally every single class in the game be re balanced almost entirely based on thiefs potential. Even the most recent class revenant. The moment it got chase that could match thiefs extreme mobility, thiefs extreme vulnerability to damage was exposed and revs chase was immediately nerfed. Off course what followed was thief exploiting revs inability to chase and was able to show off its infinite utility against revs. You cannot balance a game on extremes. Every class has at several points been rebalanced since 2012 because of thief and only because of thief.
