    Hello all.

It was announced month ago but the 5th extension is coming this year (after the last part of the 4th extension for people who haven't read it before).

Today a little teasing about it.
    https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-our-latest-quality-of-life-feature-cosmetic-inspection/

I will not speak about the new feature released tomorrow but it's to speak about the picture teased in the news.
What does the news image remind you of?

For me, it's remind me the old ascalon from gw 1. So a little back in the north land of ascalon ?
(A travel in time maybe ?)

What does this picture make you remind ?

    A forest.

At the end of the "The Crystal Dragon" story instance, the screen was shaking so extremely that I am actually feeling dizzy right now. This must be a bug. And if it's intentional, it should still be changed.

Yes its a very old intermittent bug that has been there since that episode was released.

As the person above has mentioned there is a checkbox to turn camera shake on and off, its in the otions settings, which you should be able to open it by pressing the F11 key if there is no on screen interface.

This may sort it out but its such a long time since I've done it I cannot remember if it did.

The shaking camera happened to me on two occassions with different characters and was that bad I restarted the game and did the mission again. The effect was nauseating.

A thread was created in March 2023
    https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/128842-bug-the-crystal-dragon-insane-camera-shake-bug-that-persists-unless-swopping-characters-or-exiting-the-game-spoilers/#comment-1868617

@Rubi Bayer.8493 did reply in the thread and stated that she had brought it to the attention of the Developers. It looks like the bug is still there.

i havent done the event much since the 2nd part of nayos opened, does the northern beacon scale with people on the entire map?
if it only scales with people on the eastern part of the map, it should be doable with few.

thunderhead peaks also has the advantage that the metas are on a timer and do not occur at the same time.

when the last part of the map is released,  it might make sense to do heitor meta to unlock the fangs that gnash to then progress the map to the 3rd meta -> new map.

Yes it should be dooable with a few. On the three instances I mentioned in my original post I saw one other player trying to light the Northern Beacon on one occassion, they gave up after handing in 1 item. On the other two occassions I was the only one taking part. Two of these instances were during the afternoon UK time and one was around 8pm UK time, so it wasn't the wee small hours. There were people on the maps but they were doing the other meta which was successful.

Scaling with one player is still quite bad.

Totally agree about Thunderhead peaks, as with Nayos it has two Metas but both occur at different times unlike Nayos so doesnt have any issues with conflicting events.

I'd like the wall on the branch (leading from the Heitor fight to the 2nd waypoint) to actually collapse after defeating Heitor. (This could be a new event where an NPC leads an artillery barrage.) It would make the map feel better, like you're actually progressing from zone to zone through the meta. I know it's not needed, but it would make the zone feel more natural.

Yes that was an odd move, and I was expecting this to happen as part of the storyline or directly after Heitor was taken down. Possibly a piece of the plot cut due to time constraints?

Or they could just put pauses on both metas if certain conditions are met.  That is the east meta would pause at lighting beacons if the west meta was moving to the boss, and the west meta would pause after information collected if lighting beacons was active.  The notice would change to NPC XYZ is waiting at location 123 while NPC ABC leads the assault on loation 456.

Could be a possibility, having the pre-meta events progress to a certain point and both having to be completed before the metas start properly, giving the players the choice opf which ones to do.

It will be interesting to see how they work in the final area of Nayos, clearly we're going to be attacking Eparch in his Citadel. If this is another Meta, what happens to the Road to Heitor and the Fangs that Gnash? Do they both get abandoned in favour of the newer event? I hope they can come up with a solution that causes players to spread out and do all of the metas.

  4. Could something be done about the fact that (well it seems to be the case on EU servers) people are favouring The fangs tht gnash meta over the Road to Heitor Meta?

On three occasions today I've seen the Fangs that Gnash progress to the Wyvern fight whilst the Road to Heitor has been on the lighting the Northern beacon stage. This has  then failed due to the larger number of players being at the Wyvern.

I appreciate the Wyvern fight is the newer of the two and obviously there are a lot of players approaching that for the first time., but if my experiences today is anything to go by it isn't boding well for the Heitor meta.

Perhaps there is solution? Similar to the two Light of Deldrimor pieces from Thunderhead Peaks, which are combined and allow players to open a chest with better loot, perhap key pieces could be placed into both Meta chests in Nayos. Having both and combining them could open a chest on the map with a chance of a better reward.

  5. Just wanted to add something to this discussion.

I've completed the whole achievement a number of times and now and then I pop back to Seitung just to go round a few of these boxes. One of them that I tend to do is the one everyone seems to have issues with, box number 12 (as per the wiki entry at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spiritual_Childcare

Recently I added one extra box to the path I take, box number 13, the mechanics of which are similar to box 12, you have to interact with three planters in the correct order.

What I've discovered is that if I do box 13 and then head to box 12, box 12 becomes bugged. This happens every time. If I redo the boxes the following day and don't do box 13 then box 12 is never bugged!

    It's a really odd issue.

  6. To the OP,  for info you should be aware that there are a number of achievments involving the Crash site jumping puzzle.

The new return to season 2 achievment , which is called "Reconquer the crash site climb" isn't to jump off the topmost part, it is to reach the top. Unfortunately that is currently bugged.

There are also  two old existing achiemements called "Dive Master: Prosepect valley", which is to jump off the highest point with the diving goggles.and another one called "Prospect valley crash site climber" which again is to reach the top of the jumping puzzle.

  7. Definately something wrong.

I'm running an Intel Q6600 @ 2.4ghz, 8Gb Ram, Windows 10 and GW2 both running from the same SSD and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 with 4Gb ram. That processor was released in 2008.

    Loading times as follows -

Pressing Play on the launcher to showing character select screen is 8.65 seconds
Entering game with a character and the map loading is 16.9 seconds

The processor, graphics card and memory you are using far exceed my spec and although I've turned some things down I still get a smooth playable game. Sure it definately slows down to single digits with some encounters (Svanir shaman I'm looking at you), but it works remarkably well during the Nayos Wyvern meta!

These are the settings I use for the graphics. I know I could get better frame rates by dropping some of the settings even more, but with those settings it just looks nice.

    https://ibb.co/WsS7d3x

  8. During the Hidden Arcana Living Story 2 mission, you have to defeat the Distorted Facet of Darkness. To do so you walk into one of the clear crystal bubbles he spawns which then surrounds you. You then move onto a Vortex crystal, which drops the clear crystal bubble onto it and then smash the Vortex crystal which then fires a shot at the Distorted Facet of Darkness and reduces its health. To defeat him you do this repeatedly until he is dead.

There is an achievement called Exposed weakness, which requires you to drop the Distorted Facet of Darkness' health from 75% to 0 in less than 15 seconds. To do this you stack the crystal bubble onto multiple Vortex crystals and then when you have enough primed, you hit each one oblitering the Facets health.

Now I've done this achievment years ago. Today however I was running one of my Alts, a core Necromancer through this mission. I noted that when I dropped the clear bubble onto the Vortex crystal it automatically fired at the Facet. I didn't have any pets or minions up and I wasn't using any weapons, it just autodetonated. I've done this mission multiple times over numerous alts and this wasn't behaviour that I'd seen before - the Vortex crystals should remain until you conciously attack them.

If this is happening then there is a possibility that people will not be able to obtain the Exposed weakness achiement if they're attempting it for the first time.

    Needs looking at.

  9. Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang

Simultaneously the noise of Ele pistol autoattack and me hitting my head against the wall to dull the pain of using this.

What a woeful weapon. Underpowered, lacking in fun, awkward mechanic to get the special attack on skill 1 and its mind numbingly boring.

You have the ability to pull the data from the servers Anet. How many Elementalitss are using pistols in competitive modes or even PVE? I suspect very few in pvp/wvw and even the ones in PVE are probably spamming pistol skills so they can get Artisan of Arms: Elementalist's Pistol achievment done.

You need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

Edit - weapon effects are also lazy. Skills 1 and 2 share the same graphics. Also agree with Randulf below - what on earth is Air skill 3 supposed to be?

i don't think they want it connected until they merge the meta events in the final iteration of the map. some players are hoping that they'll leave all the areas and meta events separate, but you can tell the entire map was designed around having one long event chain from east to west.

I hope to god they don't link them all up. It would be like Dragons end all over again.

Isn’t this purely hypothetical, though, since SotO gives you access to skyscale in all the expansion maps even if you don’t have it unlocked?

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy trying to find unorthodox and unintended ways to navigate maps, but all these maps were built with flying mounts in mind because there’s no way to access them without having at least limited access to a flying mount. Giant wall notwithstanding, Nayos is much nicer to navigate without flight than Amnytas.

I'd forgotten that they gave it to new players, however thank you for reminding me and yes I would agree Nayos is a bit easier, Amnytas is a pita.

  12. If you don't have a flying mount or rely upon a friend to use TP to friend or a Mesmer/Thief Port, how exactly would someone cross between Heitor's Territory and Nyedra Sound?

There doesn't appear to be any holes or paths through the rock walls that forms the eastern edge of Nyedra Surround.

What intrigues me is the fact that behind Heitor's Gate is a weird Kryptis device called a Nebular Fount. If you trace a line from it across the Wailing Chasm point of interest, you end up at a pile of rubble. If you fly up and over and to the opposite side of this rubble , there s a corridor that leads down to the Forward Bivouac Waypoint.

So was there an event that was canned that was supposed to blow the rubble apart using the Nebular Fount following the defeat of Ignaxious?

  13. As per the title, the thief axe skills 1 and 2 and subsequently skill 3 when you direct the rotating axes into a target do not damage the Inquest rifle, lightning and thumper turrets in Sandswept isles.when you are at range. These skills have a range of 900 units but to damage to the above turrets you have to be literally on top of them. If you are further back you just get a load of MISS shown on screen.

but I ask that you resist that urge and resort to useful, helpful advice instead. I would prefer a positive feedback and if you can't manage that, kindly move along.

Don't put 10 people up against 45-60. It's just not worth it. Irrespective of your skill levels you will all die due to the bigger group having more boons and damage spells.

Take your group of 10 and attack a target held by an enemy on the opposite side of the map to the enemy Zerg. Don't bother defending, it isnt worth it. Don't worry about winning or losing since it has no consequence. Just go round and round the map in circles capturing stuff like everyone else does. That's what the game mode has become sadly.

    3. OP/toxic on mech

It was alway going to be this way. It needed a complete redesign in terms of purpose, as well as usage.

Some people who replied to you may not have seen Lord Hizens beta video using the SB with the Mech and bearing in mind this was prior to these improvements. There isn't much risk playing a Mechanist at the moment, wait till this improved SB goes live. It will be rediculously busted.

Video can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBmaOZsSXTY and the Mechanist footage can be found at 3m 18s.

  16. 1) The original Tyrian Maps - loads of quests, events and variety of terrain.
    2) HoT Maps - loads of quests, events and the twisty maps.
    3) PoF Maps - loads of quests, events and some truely stunning maps (hmm there is a common theme going on here isn't there?)
    4) in game music and sound effects.
    5) Jimden the Asura who has an owl phobia in Snowden drifts

  17. technically all of the above are correct from information contained in the screenshot. Though I suspect that the OP is referring to the mass of Rangers/Revenants/Necromancers that appear to have been reported by them.

Underneath all that visual clutter is another AFK (or not?) Farm at this particular Poi

To quote someone who has a lot of posts with this phrase, "report and move on"....

  18. Not sure if it is still happening, as it jas been quite a while since I've played in this zone, but there was always an issue with map closing messages towards the end of the map event chains on this map. This was despite there being sufficient number of players who subsequently were able to finish the meta. If you swapped maps due to this message you invariable ended up on a new map.

So I have this issue in-game with my cursor highlighting and a huge circle around it. Any ideas how to fix this...?

You've probably set the in game "Cursor Contrast" to High.

To check, press F11 to open the game Options, about half way down that first page you should see "Cursor Contrast". You can set it to Off/Low/High.

Excuse me to have to say it but GW2 is a game, it's not work. You play a game to have fun, not to be on a tight schedule with strict goals to reach.

If the devs were to start to make the game the way you want I can garantee you that a large part of the playerbase would just quit.

Another Captain obvious reply. Yeah I know its a game and the aim is to have fun but here's something that might surprise you. Most events are on schedules in this game. They also spawn multiple times during the day.

Can you also tell us how you manage to know that a large part of the playerbase would quit? I mean do you work for Anet and have the data?

I think you're just picking holes in things for the sake of it.

I believe the issue is that the AFKr's affect the one that play to win. The game is coded in a way that the massive attribute pool of the mobs increase even more as there are more player characters around. Due to that, the more AFKrs, the more challenging it is for the one that play to win to actually win.

Also, your "suggestion" can only generate a wave of complaints from players that don't manage to find convergence where the various pre phase haven't already been done and thus they find themself unable to participate to the fight.

Yes that's fairly obvious from the OP and from the replies and yes I know how events scale due to numbers. I'm also well aware that the more AFK'rs there are the harder it is for those trying to win. I didn't just start playing the game yesterday!

That's the whole point of my suggestion. If you are not doing anything you shouldnt get any rewards. It would become pointless to just sit there AFK since you aren't going to get anything at the end of the event.

As for complaints from latecomers? Sorry, we all have clocks on our screens and can work out how to use /wiki et. You arrive late, the boat has sailed without you.
