  1. Actually that is exactly how every PvP game has worked ever. Matchmaking puts you on a team with other people, pitting you against another team that was created the same way. And for every match you play, you get new teammates/opponents. It's litteraly how all ranked PvP games work. And it's no accident that PvP ladders are being implemented like that to this day, because it works. The Server thing in WvW was an experiment that simple didn't work out long term. Matchups have been kitten for a long time and I would rather have them fix that, than give me some imaginary identification with a server name that doesn't impact my gameplay at all.
  2. If you want the charges to do nothing beyond counting towards the number of "stacks", its even worse. F1 would deal less damage than shattering without clones since damage per clone goes down per charge, only total damage goes up. F2 and F3 wouldn't be affected at all, since there is no effect per charge exept the actual shatter. F4 would be the only skill affected positively, granting longer distortion.
  3. Yes but that is why Virtuoso has projectiles, to give people time for counter play. A Mirage or Chrono could one shot people from stealth way too easily in PvP.
  4. You would simply identify with your Guild/Alliance instead of your server. As I said, I would be very surprized if you could name even 100 players on your server. All the other nameless faces already don't matter. They're only part of your team in theory, in practice you never interact with them anyway.
  5. Right, what I remembered was the fact that a single guild can make up the majority of an alliance (or all of it, but in that case you wouldn't make an alliance i guess). But I think the general point still stands. I doubt anyone has a community larger that 500 people on there server right now. I would be surprized if anyone had even just 100 other WvW players they can reference by name.
  6. As far as I can tell that already happens. Guilds and commanders switch server on a fairly regular basis and teams keep being reshuffled through server linking. If anything the new system will give you more stability, assuming you join a large community guild. If I remember correctly, a full guild will make up the majority (or all?) of a team. So your environment will be more stable than the current server environment with guilds and commanders constantly switching around.
  7. I know that this was addressed to Rubi, but I’ll just get the discussion started in the mean time. I genuinely don’t understand the issue. If there really is a community of players who want to play together it’s easy enough to use the additional guild slot to make a community guild. And if you can’t get people to join your community guild, maybe it’s not really a community. Maybe it’s just random people who’s name or guild tag you recognize but don’t actually know. Not trying to be a kitten, I just genuinely don’t understand what these communities are that supposedly exist right know but somehow can’t be transferred into a community guild.
  8. Seems to me if you can’t get your server to join a WvW guild voluntarily and instead need ANet to force them into one, maybe the number of people who will miss their server isn’t that great.
  9. Yes, both torch and shield is fine. Shield is probably a bit easier to play and has great survivability. Torch is a good alternative to shield for the invisibility, but shield is more commonly played. For the traits I would switch Dueling for Illusions, since you rely a lot on your shatters for burst damage. The "standard" traits are Domination 1,1,2; Illusion 1,2,2; Chrono 2,3,2. It's worth mentioning that there is a signet version using Inspiration instead of Illusion for distortion spam, but I'm not sure I would recommend that build. I think if you want to go with power chrono it's better to just learn it properly. But let me stress again that power chrono is very difficult to play. While I don't want to discourage you, I think it's best to be realistic. As power chrono your skill as a player does all the heavy lifting, no tanky gear or forgiving mechanics to fall back on. Thankfully, that has been fixed, Mirage has two dodges now in PvP and WvW. If you can't use dagger you might still have an easier time on Mirage with axe/pistol + staff (or even scepter/x + staff). In WvW the gear does so much that if you haven't played on a tanky condi build for a while you will feel immortal. Now again, if you like your power chrono, go for it. However, in my oppinion there is no need to make your life unnecessarily difficult. Yes, some people will say that Trailblazer or Celestial is for noobs, but I don't think there is any point in having too much of an ego over this stuff. Personally, I would much rather 1v2 a Willbender + Harbinger on my Celestial Mirage than struggle against either of them 1v1 on my power Chrono.
  10. @op would you mind posting your build? It's easier to give some tips when actually knowing what you're currently playing. In general Greatsword/Staff is probably not a combination I would recommend. Greatsword really only shines with full Berserker gear or at least Marauder. Both requires you to be really quick and synergizes better with sword/torch. But in WvW it's just much easier to play a condition build with Staff + some other condi weapon set. Go Celestial or Trailblazer gear and you'll do just fine in most fights. If long term you would be interessted in learning Mirage, i would recommend doing that. Dagger Mirage is probably the most busted build Mesmer currently has in WvW roaming. There's really nothing it just loses to by default.
  11. What on earth are you on about? People disagreeing with you is not "bullying" or "harassment". If you only like EBG and refuse to play on the other maps that seems like a you problem. I see plenty of action on borderlands and prefer them over EBG.
  12. True but the percentage of players raiding is probably single digits. Unless the new player already knows that raiding will be the goal I don't think it's worth recommending raiding gear.
  13. Same here, can't find a toggle to fix this. Probably me being blind, can someone describe precisely where this toggle is supposed to be?
  14. wtf? I just destroyed some people in competitive with axe chrono. It was kitten ton of fun.
