  1. Yes, and everyone knows this. We also know that you can't just reset the instance at will to do the same events over and over again. The issue is not that the tower is impossible to complete, but rather that it's a major speed bump in the story. Having to wait for others, or wait for the events to respawn / instance to reset isn't fun for anyone who is just doing a story playthrough.
  2. I recently came back to the game and decided go through all the story on a new character. LW1 wasn't out last time I played so I was looking forward to doing it. I reached the tower and now I'm stuck because I can't solo the whole thing (2nd floor boss is a road block) and no one is doing it. The LFG for old Tyria is dead as a dodo, and when I asking in guild/map chat the usual reply is something like "Yeah, it sucks. Just skip it". This is terrible game design. I'm sorry, but there is no other way to say it. Story mode should be tuned for soloing. This goes for regular dungeons as well, even though they don't block story progression in the same way.
  3. It works. Praise Joko! And it's probably the first time I've ever seen compability mode actually work. But Vista...what the skritt?
  4. The command line does nothing for me. The launcher/installer doesn't even show up in the task manager. That the error message shows up when you click somewhere in the launcher window doesn't mean that it crashes right then and there, it's just that windows hadn't noticed that it was broken until that point.
  5. Praise Joko, it's not just me. When my launcher crashes I get a "Chromium Embedded Framework Host for Guild Wars 2 has stopped working" error message.
  6. To answer the original question: yes, and in a good way. Since the purpose of the game is enjoyment, I prefer to do the things I enjoy and skip the rest. Farming gold is one of the things I would rather pay to skip, specially since it's extremely inefficient compared to making money IRL. In either case you have worked for your gold in some way. As for impressing people with gear or titles, no one will know how you got your stuff anyway. Even if something is raid-only, you could have paid for someone to carry you through the raid until you got what you wanted from it. And for everyone who is impressed by your shiny gear, there is someone who will think you're a no-life for having it. I play to fulfil goals that I set for myself; achievements, crafting gear, coming up with fun builds etc. It's OK to only do the fun parts.
