  1. After playing it a bit in PvE, I came to the conclusion it's not fun to play the interrupt spec because the game has no cast bars and the animations of NPCS (and probably players) are constantly being blocked by stupid damage numbers. I could eventually adust to the lack of cast bars, but the animations being blocked by a bunch of damage numbers is seriously irritating. I guess I'll stick with my chrono build for the time being.
  2. And yet another question! If you are using two of the same weapons such as staff / staff and get locked out of a skill on your first staff. Will that same skill be locked out on the second staff if you switch to it? Okay, cancel this last question. Someone answered it in Lion's Arch chat. The skill will be locked out of both of the weapons.
  3. And one other comment. Can the staff ambush skill be interrupted? And if you are interrupted casting ambush, does that lock you out of the entire staff 1 skill or just ambush?
  4. Okay, first off I haven't started any WvW or PvP content, but if PvE is any indication..... how in god's name do you guys consistently interrupt? I'm lucky if I get one interrupt off in 5+ attempts on NPCs. Are player caster animations easier to see in PvP? I know full well power block mesmer is not for PvE, but I'm trying to get used to playing it before I try it in PvP. Am I wasting my time? Should I go back to my easier to play chronomancer build focused on phantasms and stealth? It's easier to play, but I don't necessarily want easy. I want something effective and that spec lacks the mobility I want. This is the spec I'm using for the power block mesmer. I chose the axe over the sword because I always have problems positioning with the sword. Build Editor - Gw2Skills.Net
  5. There is no reason for GW2 to create a gear treadmill (grinding) system. Nearly every other MMORPG including WoW already has that feature. So please move along. One of the reasons I refuse to return to WoW is the endless upkeep of gear. I spent excessive time in content I did not want to do because it was built into the gear grind. Now... if the gear grind let's me progress in the content I want but at a slower pace I'm fine with it. And I'm fine with players in super high end content getting "slightly" better gear. But most games don't work like that. The top gear ends up making a huge difference. And most high end players complain it's not worth struggling through super hard content if they are only marginally better than the rest of us peons. So we end up with a system where everyone is constantly spending their time chasing higher levels of gear instead of playing aspects of the game they enjoy. And in the end, this leads to players quitting and not wanting to return because they realize how far behind they are on gear. Yea, I know their are ways for devs to solve this but they never do. The only solution I can think of is to let players progress at a slower pace in content they choose to do, even if it's not the highest end content in the game. Will we ever have a game where players start off with all of their skills and attributes at character creation. And the game's progression system revolves around the changing world rather than the individual player? The individual player can stand out by his reputation amongst players and his impact on changing the world rather than his ability to master "instanced content" for better gear? A non static world with a real history that isn't simply told through trite stories (aka Living Story).
  6. Just happened to me on 05/18/2022. How can a bug like this persist for so long? Sheesh.... I really don't want to redo this part of the story again. Canach is standing there constantly putting up a shield after I already defeated his vision. Nothing else I can do other than reset the entire segment of the story. And if I have to repeat this again to get it to work I'm going to..... **bleep**
  7. Why in god's name is a single point of interest buried that deep in the maze and the only way to reach it is completing the final meta event in Silverwastes? Most of the time there are not enough people in the zone to complete the event. I just had a night where I sat around and the zone failed twice trying to complete the final siege steps. But what makes it worse is this is an oldschool zone so I get no mastery experience for other expansions while trying to finish the meta just to reach a point of interest for map completion. Would it be so hard to move that POI to the edge of the maze so you can at least finish the map without having to open up the tangled depths maze? Most people go in there for the treasures. A point of interest should only be used to show you there is something important down there. It should not be used as a crutch to force us into a meta event we have no interest... an event that could easily fail without enough people in the map.
  8. I don't mind weekly time gates. What bothers me is when devs move to daily time gates. This forces me to log on each day to acquire the required resource or I feel like I'm falling behind. Whereas with weekly time gates I can play one or two days a week grinding out that resource and then spend the rest of the week doing whatever I want. And I don't need to log on each day. It's one of the reasons I hated WoW Shadowlands. Everything turned into a daily time gate. That's excessive and unnecessary and falsely makes it look like players are logging on for fun when they are really logging on just to do the daily time gate.
  9. I didn't read through the entire thread, but I just had one of those experiences where I needed to spend 10 to 15 minutes googling information because I was trying to finish a jumping puzzle and kept missing my jump by a tiny bit. After watching numerous videos that were unhelpful, I finally found out I needed more gliding mastery to do those jumps. I spent over an hour thinking I just sucked at jumping. Why doesn't the game give you a skill check warning when doing those jumping puzzles? Would it be so hard for a message to flash across the screen when entering any puzzle event saying "You lack the required skills to finish this event?" It doesn't even need to tell me the specific skills I lack. JUST GIVE ME A kitten WARNING so I do not waste my time on the impossible?
  10. Another user interface complaint. The FREE CAMERA options doesn't work the same when you are on a mount. When I'm NOT on my mount, I can freely move my camera while clicking on enemies while moving forward. When I'm on my mount the camera acts like the FREE CAMERA option is not checked. In other words, when I'm on a mount and let go of my left mouse button, the camera lines right back up behind my mount. This doesn't let me click the enemies in the distance (and not in front of me) while on the mount. Let the FREE CAMERA option work whether or not you are mounted.....
  11. The point is I hate having to change those "individual" settings when I could easily save a single overall setting that works best in 90% of content. Even though I haven't played WoW in over a year, I remember it having more options to tailor the graphic settings to exactly what I want without the need to constantly change. I would love to play gw2 with two graphic options. The best performance option and my own saved settings option. How hard would it be for them to program a simple save feature for graphic options I want?
  12. I might be overlooking it, but is there a way to save your own in game graphics settings? Right now I only see three options to choose from: 1. Best Performance 2. Autodetect 3. Best Appearance My issue with these 3 setting is none of them accomplish what I want. When there are tons of people moving about during an event, I always choose Best Performance. I have no issues with that. But when the event is over, I have to choose one of the other two options and both are not ideal. The Best Appearance option is too much. And the Autodetect ignores things I want and adds things I don't want. So when I leave an event and need to change away from Best Performance, I'm forced to manually change each setting again and again because there is no way to save my own personal settings. How about adding that as an option? SAVE PERSONAL GRAPHIC SETTINGS?
  13. Yep, the noob questions continue. Was playing around with pvp gear options and noticed the Rune of Zephyrite is not an option. Does that mean it can't be used in PvP? Am I missing something? I tried looking at the wiki page but it didn't help..... Looks like it would have been great to use with JAUNT.
  14. Like I said, I'm still learning about armor so ignore that for now. As for the build, it's mostly for wvw. I plan to create an engineer for group pve content. I have a free level 80 boost to use much later for the engineer.
  15. So I kind of settled on a build for my Mesmer that will focus on the infinite horizon trait. The goal is to create clones. And to get the buffs from phantasms (specifically the fury) to transfer to me when the phantasms become clones. The secondary goal is to obviously keep my endurance high enough for cloaking. The phantasms transferring fury to me will help a bit with that and let me use some of my stats for something other than precision. Ignore the gear on the build. I'm still clueless when it comes to that. I chose the scepter and sword because both give a lot of defense with the blocks and the scepter also pumps out a lot of clones. Build Editor - Gw2Skills.Net
  16. Okay, was playing around with the build editor. I'll have my spec to post tomorrow for analysis. But for now I have another one of those noob questions in reference to the superior runes on armor. I'm looking at the running speed bonuses. Which do you think would be better for a mirage mesmer? 1. Superior rune of the zephyrite: It gives a total of 6.75 seconds of super speed when using an elite skill. 2. Superior rune of the traveler: It increases your base running speed to 25%. At first glance the traveler option seems better because it's always there. But with the mirage elite skill jaunt, you can have two uses of your elite skill every 30 seconds. That's 13.5 seconds of super speed every 30 seconds. To me this seems like the better option because my build doesn't really have any counters to being crippled.
  17. Okay, thanks for that info. Makes it a bit easier to play. I'll stick with mirage and the infinite horizon trait. I'm only level 74 right now so will practice a bit on the training dummies to get a feel. Now I need to play with the traits to see the best way to balance consistent clone creation, endurance gains, and trying not to be a glass cannon.
  18. Great, now you guys are scaring me away from Virtuoso.... I originally wanted to try mirage but the spec seems so twitchy because you only have a small timeframe to take advantage of mirage cloak and ambush skills. Literally split second timing. Not sure I can handle that consistently in a hectic pvp environment. Anyway, here's another noob mesmer question. For mirage's "infinite horizons" trait, do your illusions cast ambush skills on their own after you mirage cloak? Or do you have to cast your own ambush skills for the illusions to cast theirs?
  19. Yea, but the gear you get might not be enough to try for the spec you want to play. I would need 100% crit for the bleed condi Virtuoso spec I want to try. I definitely plan on playing Virtuoso. The only thing I am not sure of is whether to try the blocking build or the bleeding build. Seems like the bleeding build would do better in large groups, but if I want to run around with 1 or 2 friends than I'd die to fast because it has near zero defense.
  20. An exactly which mesmer spec would do best against thieves and rangers? Figured I might as well try the offensive full crit bleed Virtuoso build and mostly use shatters to get a crit for the bleeds. Guess it would work good in zergs. But I plan to run around with a friend or two so you are probably right to focus on the Virtuoso block/evade build. I do know for sure I don't want to rely on clones or worry about mirage constantly needing to build endurance to have evades.
  21. Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I'll be playing a condi bleed Virtuoso because of all the phantasm limitations making my Chorno phantasm build seem useless. Glad I asked these questions before hitting 80 🙂
  22. Looks like I settled on Virtuoso condi bleed build. because the phantasms only attack once in pvp then turn into clones. That ruined my chrono phantasm build I wanted to try.
  23. What do you mean? I was reading how some classes can steal boons and was wondering if that continuum shift shatter skill could be stolen while you wait to use it. You hit the key once to prepare and a second time to use it. Can it be stolen while waiting to use it the second time. Maybe I meant stripped away instead of stolen?
  24. Wait, so a phantasm only does a single attack in pvp? That seems kind of useless considering many of them have moderately long cooldowns. They just despawn or stand there useless after that single attack?
  25. I was reading how some classes have a way to steal or strip boons. I wasn't sure if the Chrono continuum was considered a boon that could be stripped if you wait to use it.
