  1. Yup - a whole other issue contributing to fussy rotations and piano style play. Have an extra 5 keys to press to be effective (or perhaps not, some toolbelt skills aren't worth the animation time). It's why since returning I've mostly played mech. The stupid green robot I could live without, but the design of the elite is cohesive and allows you to play without the nonsense of my old HoT 4 kit build: both builds get stuff done, but one doesn't require me to have more dexterity than a piano recital (1 kit, 3 mech skills).
  2. I'd like this as well, pretty new to PvP (started ranked this season). The problem of learning a single spec for ranked to play, not even well, just not horribly badly is quite time consuming. But your ranking being generic is pretty awful - I can play a single spec at better than utter nub level, and a couple other specs on other classes badly - but I get matchmade as my best performer even on a class I have never played before. It does seem actively insane, unless they want me to roll a useless alt account just to learn a spec . . .
  3. I mean you'd think that, but unranked is a weirdly toxic place, and is an awful place to learn anything other than gross character control and rotations, as games there bear little resemblance to ranked matches.
  4. Returning player that's only started PvP about 6 or 7 weeks ago. It's really crappy - got carried to the top end of gold 3 during placement playing bunker mecha. Now I have several problems. I only really know 1 build for PvP but I can't learn anything else without throwing games at the level I'm matched at. I don't even think bunker mecha is really that good, but I perform worse on everything else Getting flamed out by veterans regularly - because I'm getting matches way past my competence level, seeing people in the top 50 who destroy me in moments. Decayed down to silver, where I had better matchups - I suspect silver is a more appropriate level for me to be playing, but quickly got back to gold 2. I'd have loved to have been clamped to a maximum level, as it would let me learn without getting wrecked and feeding constantly. Mainly started PvP as a more interesting way to unlock ascended armour as fractals are so dull, but the 'new' player experience has been crappy enough I'm not sure I can be arsed with another season of ranking rewards up again.
  5. I think the desire to get out is worsened by low population and awful matchmaking. I'm a relatively new player to PvP, maybe 5 weeks, and I'm not that good. Still ended up in gold 3 playing with and against names in the top 100 - which is not okay. Generally such games are a total curbstomp with the higher ranked players cussing out us newbies / baddies nonstop. There is no incentive to do anything in such a situation except collect my loss reward and move on. It's not even as good as World of Tanks (which sets a very low bar for both player behaviour and incentive structure) as there is no 'valiant defence' reward for topping the scoreboard on the losing team. Expecting players to be free content and get chain farmed whilst being flamed out by the veterans seems perverse at best. Why wouldn't they AFK it out? Just to be clear, I think I have AFKd once after 2 of my team were autorunning in the spawn corner, but going 3v5 whilst being spawncamped isn't an exactly an attractive proposition.
  6. Played GW2 on and off since launch, with large gaps (last played pre PoF until this year). Started sPVP for the first time in the last week - I'd probably do WvW, but gearing seems like a nuisance and when I tried it out it was zerg vs zerg which I had enough of in my DAoC days. The good: Low barrier to entry - turn up and play on a level playing field Balanced matches are genuinely fun Players fight back, instead of being dumb immobile hitpoint sponges with CC immunity Conquest is nice and grokable The bad: Match start is slow, and there is usually one or two people running the timer down Most matches are unbalanced curb-stomps Turning a bad match around is rare Partial premade teams are miserable to play with and against (either they are kicking your head in or whinging in chat or ignoring everyone else as they are on voip) The deathmatch mode is wretched, horrible cramped little slugfests Legacy of Foefire is a steaming pile Stronghold is tedious No way to concede - if I have been farmed for the first half, I'd like a way to bow out gracefully - having to be farmed for the remainder is soul-destroying: why no surrender vote 😞 Given up on the ranked 3v3 as miserable - I'll give ranked Conquest a go when it rolls around, but moving towards just grabbing dailies and forgetting it altogether at some point.
  7. Eh. I want to like playing with kits, but piano builds are bad for my wrists - and most of the kits could be replaced with the 1 or 2 good skills you actually want to cast from them.
