  1. Wow, salty people all around here.

I played a super evasive condi d/d trickery/acro/daredevil build for a while for fun, where the combination of Death Blossom and Lotus Training dodges would give me lots of "damage while evading" although I had to sacrifice too much damage so it was basically almost a troll build.

With the Trickster trait that reduces trick cooldowns, you can use Withdraw every ~14 seconds. With Vigorous Recovery from acro which gives you vigor on heal and Endless Stamina which increases vigor effectiveness, that means you not only evade via the Withdraw itself but also start regenerating lots of endurance right after it, allowing you to start dodging again pretty soon. Also don't forget the Steal with reduced cooldown (24s) which also gives you back 25% endurance.

You can also cast Roll for Initiative every 32 seconds which evades and gives lots of ini to allow you to keep up Death Blossom. Combine that with Upper Hand from acro which gives ini on evade every 2s, and you have a high Death Blossom uptime.

Then there's Instant Reflexes which can kick in every 40s, and Dagger Storm whose cooldown is reduced to 72s thanks to Trickster.

Oh and Hard to Catch from acro which can kick in every 30s and COMPLETELY REFILLS endurance when someone tries to CC you. Yeah.

I didn't even use sigils of energy on that build and it was already ridiculously evasive. I can very much believe OP's 6 minute story. It might have been a troll build made explicitly for that exact purpose.

EDIT: There's more to it that I forgot, LOL.

Traited Haste has a 24s cooldown and breaks stun. The 32s cd Roll for Initiative is also a stun break. Traited Bandit's Defense (via Brawler's Tenacity) has a 16s cooldown, breaks stun, blocks, and refills 10% of your endurance. So while your Hard to Catch is on its 30s cooldown you still have THREE stun breaks with 16s, 24s, and 32s cooldown, where the one with the shortest cd also blocks and refills a bit of endurance.

Do not underestimate a good troll thief's absurd survivability. :D

@Kabuki Theatre.9752 saidWhat EXACTLY is the point with flying mounts GW2 wants to make SO COMPLICATED???

No matter how ridiculous any aspect of this game is, there will always be vocal group of people on this board to passionately argue that it has to be EXACTLY that way, or the game would catastrophically collapse overnight. The real reason is because they released an entire expansion with four days of new gameplay. And it turns out that mounts actually WERE the expansion. So they need to string you along, for 2-3 years with new mounts, new mount skins, and new mount abilities, to fill in for all the alternative content that never was.

Ehh, no need to exaggerate. PoF provides amazing new maps, new enemies, great story instances, a new elite spec on every class, great new items, and so on.

As a software developer, I'd categorize that as a bug.

I've experienced a different kind of dialogue bug a few times. Once it's triggered, no matter how far you get away from the spot / the NPCs, you still hear it and the text appears in the chat. Happens somewhere in Dragonfall too. Don't remember where exactly, but I run through one of the camps with my mount and get to listen to the dialogue for two minutes while I'm already at the other end of the map. ^^ It's one of the "ambient" dialogues that happen between two NPCs. One of those that takes a bit longer / has more meaningful content than just idle chitchat.

  4. YES GOD YES. Not just interruptible, I want ALL CC to work on downed enemies. I think Daze in particular has no effect? It's so freaking annoying to get an already challenging player barely downed and then you can't even CC them to prevent them from downing you too.

What's also super annoying is the necro's blood draining thing, from which you can't evade. Does a lot of damage and heals the necro too.

Especially as a thief player my downed state feels ridiculously underpowered compared to what some other classes get. All I can do is troll the enemy a bit by teleporting away before they stomp, then going invisible before they try to stomp again, but all it does is waste both our time. The stealth in particular is practically completely useless as it's not like you're going anywhere, and you've probably already used up your teleport, and it stealths you for maybe 2 seconds...

That being said, the Daredevil elite skill is amazing against downed enemies, if there's no enemy players to interrupt you. It's a 3-step combo where the first includes a small leap towards the enemy, the second is a launch attack which prevents your enemy from doing anything, and the third is an auto-stomp. OH AND THERE'S A CHANCE YOUR LITTLE ASURA THIEF WILL LITERALLY YELL "GET REKT". Literally the most satisfying skill in the game by far. xD

  5. Wow guys chill. :D

@"Inculpatus cedo.9234" said:I think the second poster thought the OP was referring to the Open World Map feature that offer a change of maps to a more populated (living) map when the population is low (dead).

Pretty sure this is what OP meant. It happens in the "PvP lobby" aka Heart of the Mists. "When I log into PvP" sounds like clicking on the "enter PvP" button in the PvP window, which teleports you to the HotM. (Protip: relatively quick teleport to Lion's Arch from anywhere at zero cost, since the Lion's Arch portal is right behind you when you teleport to HotM.)

  6. @Kelieto.6375 said:Of course it is worth it! I don't know why people here are saying it's subjective. Every mount Anet has released so far has objectively been worth their investment cost and I expect it to be the same for future mounts if we get any more.

Objectively worth the investment cost? That would imply that you can make gold (faster) with it, and then I'd ask you how long it takes to reach the break-even point. ;-)

Given that it doesn't offer much higher mobility above other mounts, it's probably objectively a waste of time and gold, but let's not forget that we play the game to get a subjective enjoyment out of it. For many (hopefully most) people that doesn't involve obsessive gold hoarding, so subjectively it might be very much worth it.

Sorry, just had to nerd that one out.

  7. No, I've optimized the keyboard commands so I can hit everything with minimal movement.

    • W, A, S, D\: Movement.
    • F, Q, E, C, R: Weapon skills 1 to 5
    • Alt + (F, Q, E, C, R): Healing, utility, elite
    • TAB: Swap weapons
    • ` (accent): Stow (don't use it much, not that skilled ^^)
    • 1 - 5: Special class skills
    • Alt + ` (accent): Griffon
    • Alt + (1 - 5): Raptor, Springer, Skimmer, Jackal, Beetle
    • Alt + X: Warclaw

(For those not familiar with the US English keyboard, the ` (accent) key is to the left of "1".)

  8. Any guilds doing casual sPvP currently looking for members? All I want is not joining sPvP matches with randoms.

Unranked or ranked I don't care so long as the guild isn't elitist or full of people who get salty when you're not as good as they'd like you to be.

Also I'll 99% stop playing again in two weeks. Will be back to 40h job and other obligations after a short vacation. ^^

  9. I think ArenaNet did a fairly good job of giving them all their unique uses, so it doesn't make much sense to rate them. Apples to oranges to pears to bananas, you know.

One exception: the Raptor and Jackal barely have a difference, not counting the sand portals. I almost only ever use Raptor for quick travel on land because it allows me to jump over substantial gaps with ease and is usually a bit faster than the Jackal.

I don't use the Beetle much either because having to build up stamina is dumb and I can't control it well so I can barely make use of its high speed. If I got the hang of drifting it would probably be useful on some maps though.

I could rate them according to how frequently I use them though, which would be roughly:

    • Gryffon: quickest general map travel
    • Raptor: quickest land travel
    • Springer: climb steep hills
    • Skimmer: travel over water and sometimes terrain with small gaps / many enemies
    • Jackal: sand portals
    • Roller Beetle: when I think "there seems to be a direct land connection to my destination so maybe I can go there with super high speed" but give up 10 seconds later 90% of the time
    • Warclaw: WvW
    • Skyscale: haven't unlocked yet but will probably just replace Springer in some situations
  10. Hard pass on Exordium. I hate all the flashy stuff in the game. Wish the overall graphic design was the opposite. My thief wields two Aurete Dirks and wears a brown freaking Studded Armor with no gauntlets or pauldrons.

Switched recently from Claws of the Desert and a full Sneakthief outfit. The plainer the better, LOL. Bonus: people think you're a noob so you can surprise them. Assuming they don't have standardized models turned on.

  11. I don't want to see naked people on the battlefield, so no. I'm already annoyed by all the super flashy ridiculous outfits many people use. Mixing that with naked characters would produce a totally absurd combination.

For people aiming for a "barbarian" look, there is the "scallywag chest" heavy armor skin. Although it doesn't work well on Norn, Human, and Sylvari female characters, because for those it turns into a full chestguard, obviously designed to hide humanoid breasts.

Ignore the ridiculous pauldrons and headgear and note the chest skin seen here on the male characters, as well as the female charr and asura:

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scallywag_armor

A proper "barbarian" look could surely be designed for humanoid females too, if Anet weren't lazy. Well, maybe there already is an option, given all the skimpy outfits they made for female characters.

  12. I've noticed that when I get off my mount with my Daredevil, I only have 2/3 of my endurance.

I can't see a logical reason for this. After I dismount, my character should be in a "fresh" state to engage in a fight, unless other characters also receive some penalty upon dismounting.

Starting the fight with 66% endurance is already bad for a dodge-heavy class, and on top of that it means I won't get the "while endurance is full" bonuses that some trats grant. (Stuff like "deal more damage while endurance is full".)

I guess it might not be so important in PvE but we have the Warclaw in WvW now after all.

    EDIT:

Had not seen this thread, which complains about the same:

  13. @"Nury.3062" said:Already said it before. Every race's child version as mini (real size). Imagine bringing your cub or salad with you to show him the wilderness and how to survive in Tyria.

Hahaha, LOL at "salad." I'm afraid Sylvari don't have children though. They awake in adult form beneath the Pale Mother. There was a funny line about that during Helloween, in which a human child in Lion's Arch can be heard saying: "I think Sylvari should get candy too, since they don't get to be kids."
