  1. Came here looking for the same thing. After it fires at level 3, the skill simply goes into cooldown with no option to detonate. I'm only able to apply the 2 stacks of pass-through burning, unless it is fired from max range and happens to explode close enough.
  2. If you have any Teleport To Friend items, you can party up with a friend, guild mate, or ask around in Lion's Arch and use that to port yourself to the map. Abandoning the chapter 12 and redoing chapter 11 should also work, but you'd be stuck replaying that entire chapter.
  3. I'm fine with the rewards of this system so far, but I completely agree with all of the other complaints. Particularly having no choice in daily objectives. I'm almost a purely pve player, but I would occasionally do a wvw daily. Now that option is completely gone, because I do not want my daily/weekly requiring me to do wvw to receive rewards. The bigger problem is that no matter what modes are selected, there are only ever 4 daily "options" available. This should be at least 5, so players can skip one if it's something they don't like doing. Or as today as pointed out, is actually impossible to do because a mini dungeon (Valdhertz Crypt) that is known to break has broken. So I guess I'll just be missing out on today's rewards because there is no alternate objective.
  4. This system desperately needs an extra option or two on the dailies. If they don't want us getting extra rewards, just lock out the extras after 4 are completed. And keeping that limited to just 4 with multiple game modes selected means that I will never be seeing WvW or PvP dailies. I don't want to do WvW daily, but I would occasionally go in and get a daily or two done. So good job removing an incentive for PvE players to try engaging with other modes. Now we're not even going to be seeing them in our daily lists to remind us that they exist and have rewards for us. I also noticed that for some reason, if you do have multiple game modes selected there are 8 weekly options to get 6/6 completed. But with only PvE selected, that is reduced to 7.
  5. Good to know. If the others get fixed, or I manage to find a working map, I can at least get the alpine lily with this method.
  6. After further tormenting myself in the name of science, it appears that the third event for A Blooming Errand is also bugged and stuck in an inactive state. Toxicologist Yon in Seitung Provience is just standing in a cave where the 2nd event in her chain happens. I've waited through a good bit of a day cycle, and the complete dusk-night-dawn cycle. She's still just standing there. Just like the NPCs for the other 2 events. So 3 out of 4 steps for this achievement are bugging out. The only completable step is the one that doesn't require an event, just gathering an item in Fields of Ruin. And this is holding up making other any progress in The End of the Celestial Ministry because its later steps are locked behind completing A Blooming Errand.
  7. I'm not sure where to start with the list of problems with these achievements, so I guess I'll go with where I'm at right now and how I got here. I was working on Building a Better Bot/Golem Behavior Analysis, till the latter came to needing a Golem Mk2 kill that was still hours away. I moved on to The End of the Celestial Ministry in the meantime. Progress was happening, though the lack of any relevant hints as to where the needed NPCs are means following a wiki page/guide is necessary unless you really like aimless wandering. Telling me an NPC is in New Kaineng City doesn't really help when the collections map marker doesn't show up unless you're within a fairly short range, which also counts vertical range so you can be literally on top of it but still too far away. If you're not going to give any sort of useful hint, just make the markers show up across the entire zone. The first person to post a guide/wiki update is probably going to be the last person completing it the "intended" way. After wiki'ing my way through a few NPCs, I come to Ju (zero hint on where to find her, btw), who starts another sub-achievement called A Blooming Errand. This little side-step, which is only worth 1 AP has already eaten up an hour of time for absolutely no progress...the "main" achievement is 5AP and an MP (what I'm actually after here). I can only assume the event in Snowden Drifts required for the first step is bugged. Probably due to other people trying to get same achievement. If it were in working order, I'm sure the level 15s here would appreciate others upscaling the event and ditching after they get their item. So even if I skip ahead and attempt the steps, I'm likely stuck waiting for an update or being lucky enough to get into a working map for step 1. After all the previous issues with achievements/collections/legendary crafting relying on completing events in old zones, I'd would think it's clearly a bad idea to do this. Even when events are working, it still creates a bunch of boring wait times. No one wants to spend 10-20 minutes waiting for events twice in the same sub-achievement for 1AP. But now, I cannot progress in this achievement/MP, and I have little desire to continue in the other similar ones because the same thing is likely to happen. edit: more problems Seems that part 3 of A Blooming Errand, an event at Doldevan Passage in Wayfarer Foothills, is also bugged and not starting. TLDR: 1) Lack of hint/info on where NPCs we need to speak to are (telling me "a flower shop in this massive city" is not helpful) 2) The achievement/collection map marker only shows up when you are very close to NPC 3) Marker range also counts vertical distance, making it even more useless in vertical maps like New Kaineng City 4) Bugged events in old content blocking progress on new achievements
  8. Still not getting progress. Got 2 of them 3 times earlier today, and no progress at all.
  9. Anything open world where a small number of players can ruin it by standing in the wrong spot (intentionally or not) is just a bad idea. Making that area GREEN in a game that's spent a decade training players to avoid RED might be an even worse idea. Make succeeding mechanics like this more rewarding or just more efficient. But having it able to easily cause a complete failure is just a recipe for pointlessly frustrating everyone. This kind of "do the mechanics or fail" stuff belongs in raids/etc, where you can actually control who you are playing with and make sure everyone is on the same page. You're not going to get a herd of cats to all go along with it. Whether that's do to language barriers, not paying attention, not caring, being braindead from the previous hour of the meta, or whatever. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's part of why the raids are done by only a small part of the playerbase, but "mechanics" like this just make my eyes glaze over. Three seconds after figuring it out, it's just tedious and boring busy work. I can't imagine I'm alone in not wanting to deal with contrived/cheap mechanics, especially not at the end of something that takes hours to complete. If you want it to be a challenge, actually do something to make it harder.
  10. I got the 2nd one recovered, and there aren't any signs of it being compromised. My level 8 ranger is right where I left her, no items are missing. Not that they could be, since a free account can't transfer stuff. So it appears that a human investigated the account, then determined it was compromised based on the GeForce Now login, even after being told that I had logged in through GeForce Now myself. I find it quite concerning that someone taking such little care has the power to make decisions regarding the security of, and access to, our game accounts. I don't know if the GM didn't read the entire message, or didn't understand what GFN is...which is also not excusable since it's a service Anet chose to be a part of. But it's clear that there need to be some changes in automated security and how their support staff deal with players using GFN.
  11. The second account is being treated as compromised. I'm extremely skeptical of that actually being true, but I'm going through the requested security steps. I think the only chance of there actually being a compromise is if GFN itself was compromised or if someone somehow managed to figure out a long unique password and logged in via GFN after I did (I did check the "remember" box for two-factor), but before the account was locked. Those unlikely scenarios aside, this seems to be an account being considered compromised based solely on a brief login through a service Anet wants their game available on. The only defensible part of this I can understand is that the account sat idle for a year or more. But still, the account is two-factor auth protected and the local play login was from the only location/ISP the account had ever been accessed from in the past.
  12. Well, now I'm even more convinced that GeForce Now was the reason for the lock. I had logged into the game on another account yesterday both locally and through GeForce Now, and that account is now locked. I guess if you want to use GFN for GW2, you need to use ONLY GFN to access the game. This is just ridiculous. If this is the level of official support they are going to have for GFN, Anet might as well just pull GW2 back off of the service. All of the unnecessary account locking is only going to create a nightmare for support staff and infuriate their players/customers.
  13. I did get that account sorted. It took about a day. Would have been closer to 12 hours, but whatever they did the first time didn't actually remove the lock so I had to update the ticket and wait some more.
  14. I can't imagine anything else I might have done for the security lock to happen. It's an account that I'm on for a short time most days to collect login rewards and maybe do some quick dailies. I occasionally move a bit of gold or items to my main account or guild storage. But that has been going on for years with no issues, and I've moved much larger amounts in the past than anything that's happened recently. I would also expect the gold receiving account to get banned as well if that were the reason. Of course it's possible that someone had attempted to use the email and guess passwords enough times to get it locked, but that seems unlikely to have happened within an hour or less of my logging in via GeForce Now. Being an automated detection, I would expect the action to happen quite soon after whatever had triggered it. And the only thing I had done was log in through GFN and do dailies. To me it seems like the most likely explanation. Though I am curious and tempted to test the theory with a rarely used free account I made a while back.
  15. Last night I tried playing GW2 through Geforce Now streaming on an alt account. Did my dailies and logged. About an hour later I went to log back into that account, without GeForce Now, and was met with the error message "The code you entered is invalid." I've since contacted support and was told that my account was "caught in our regular account security review," but that it was rechecked and was now unlocked. That was about 8 hours ago, and I'm still unable to log into that account. I'm confident this will be resolved, but there's definitely a bigger issue here. The support rep did mention that playing via a VPN/proxy is not condoned/supported, and has been associated with account fraud. This is a fully understandable position when dealing with normal VPN service, of which there are countless. But my account was flagged using nVidia's GeForce Now, a service that Arenanet has seemingly opted in to participate in. GW2 was part of the service at its launch, but disappeared shortly with many other games and nVidia moved to only have games who's devs/publishers chose to be on the platform. Despite that, we seem to still have support locking accounts that log in via nVidia's servers. They really need to be double checking before locking/banning when the login is coming through an IP operated by a gaming service Anet already clearly has some degree of official support for.
  16. I'm not sure which software is at fault, but I'm reposting this here from the Asus forums because from what I can tell the problem is only triggered by GW2.In addition to what is posted below, I've also found that it's only the initial launch of GW2 that causes this. The Asus service can be restarted while GW2 is still running, and it will continue without further issues. Whatever the cause is, it's only happening right when GW2's launcher starts. 17. That's definitely it. I had 2 marks left in the bank, that I just now moved to inventory. 2 map loads later, I have 0 marks and 2 "Men at Work" trophies. For the teleports, I've seen that happen along with map/server crashes, being out of bounds, mid-air, or in some spot not accessible on foot when logging out. Maybe sporadic other occurrences that are seemingly random. But I've not seen it happen consistently from a "normal" logout location. Also, there is a brief moment in the video, just after reloading back to the character in Gendarran, where the load screen shown is Queensdale before quickly changing to Gendarran Fields. That moment of confusion for the game is probably related.
  18. I went to look at the new glider skin on my alt account that just got Heart of Thorns unlocked for free last week (already owned PoF), and found that all but a few of the gliders being sold were locked with the message "This item requires Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns". As you can see in the screen shot, I am in a HoT map with gliding already unlocked. These gliders should all be available to me.
  19. This does not explain my experience with these chests at all. I'm at 5/10 and 6/10 with the unchecked chests on the list all appearing as already opened. On one account I've only opened one chest per day, having no additional key drops from mobs. My first two cycles through the list of chests had no issues, despite my doing each run in a different order. Now on my third run, I've had the same chests not resetting for several days. I've been stuck at 6/10 for 3 days, checking every unchecked chest daily. On my other account, I did get an extra key or two from drops in my first cycle. That did not cause any reset delays in my 2nd cycle, even though there was a day or two where I used more than 1 key/chest. As with my first account, all chests reset when I completed 10/10 on my first cycle. Now on my third cycle, 5 chests are not resetting. Whether based on timer or the achievement list, these chests should be reset. From what I've seen it's clearly based on the achievement checklist, but that is definitely bugged and not allowing some to reset.
  20. I started running into this problem on one account a day or two ago. I can't open chests in Iron Marches, Snowden Drifts, Frostgorge Sound, Lornar's Pass, and Mount Maelstrom. Stuck at 5/10 and now just hoarding keys. edit:Make that two accounts. My main is now stuck at 6/10 with the same chests as above, minus Iron Marches, not resetting.
  21. FPS around Champion's Dawn is significantly better with reflections set to "terrain & sky" or "none". I think the reflections and water are the cause of the problem, because they do not appear to be working properly. Water anywhere else looks very different with reflections on and off, but Champion's Dawn's water seems to always look like it's set to "none" despite the massive performance hit from enabling the setting. The southeast corner of the map is also currently causing major FPS drops, hitching, and stuttering. It's making the griffon course in that area extremely difficult. Saw some others mention it in map chat, and a friend had the same problem in that area. The map instance I'm currently in also has a bugged Palawadan meta, which might be related as it's near that area.
  22. I just did the Legendary Forged Rampager with a near full squad and the Captor/Spinning Laser combo, and it was a nightmare. We somehow killed it in time, but people were downed/dying constantly because no one could see the lasers or any of the incoming attacks/AoE. All I could see of the boss was the red nameplate and a faint red outline barely visible in my blued-out screen. Visual noise is a fairly consistent problem in GW2, but this is an entirely new extreme.
  23. Your IP would be visible to the cloud/hosting service you uploaded the image to, but anyone viewing it from there (forum readers) would be connecting to that host and not you. Overall, the IP fearmongering here is more than a bit over the top. It seems to based more around uploading an image to a host you control, and then being able to see the IP address of every other forum reader that loads that image from your server. Sure, that is making your IP visible to that image host, but every thing you connect to on the internet sees your IP (unless you're using a VPN or proxy). It's not giving that image host any means of actually identifying your username (or anything else personally identifiable), as they would only have a big list of IP addresses that had access the image. They would not have a way to determine which IP address is yours out of the hundreds or thousands of other users that viewed the forum post. Every time you visit a page on the internet you are giving that site, its advertisers, analytics services, external image hosts, etc your IP address. It's kind of like an internet PO box address with no name attached. Unless you are actually logged into the site/host, or the one you log into is actively sharing that identity (who's IP is who's) to others, you are just an IP address to them. It's basically the same level of identification that an advertiser's tracking cookie has. Generally, the only people that can actually get something trackable out of it are those marketing and analytics companies working with the sites you visit, because they track it across many sites and that information is shared between them and the sites they work with.
