  1. It's great in open world. I love both condi Mirage and power Mirage - although it is a highly mobile spec, Mirage is actually one of the more chill specs to play, thanks to all the evades. Chrono is great with all its boons...but I still prefer Mirage. Condi staff Mirage:
  2. You could try searching for "gw2 core elementalist" on Youtube for some inspiration. The wvw build videos can often provide ideas for more sustain.
  3. GS Power Mirage is quite fun. Swap in Domination for Inspiration for less sustain but more DPS:http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?PihAEZlVwUYbMImJWyTrPNA-zRRYBKmKQM4yIwSIiMwk5oaGA-e
  4. Not sure just how unique they are, but here are two: Power Druid w/axe-axe & longbow. It intentionally has no toughness, and tries to make up for it with CC utilities and traits. It kills fast, works well, but can be overwhelmed. http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAceNlNwWYOMG2JWsX5tdA-zxQYhojZD+QiQFErEoXhgiHA-e Power Mirage w/Greatsword & Staff. Usually Mirage would be condi, but GS works well with power. Traits provide fury so that it is usually around 90% crit chance, and that high crit chance synergizes with the on-crit Sigil of Strength, so that might stacks up quickly. Inspiration trait line provide lots of sustain, but a skilled player can switch to Domination for higher DPS/higher risk. Staff is also usually considered a condi weapon, but here it provides additional phantasm/clone generation, and is bit more defensive with skills 2,4,5. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PihAEZlVwUYbMImJWyTrPNA-zRRYBKmKQM4yIwSIiMwk5oaGA-e
  5. This is not true. It's become a common throwaway line used to dismiss open-world as 'less than' RAID/fractal builds. Maybe if 'open-world' meant just Queensdale, but its obviously not true that "everything is perfectly viable in Tangled Depths " or "everything is perfectly viable in Desolation", nor is "everything is perfectly viable in personal story". Open-world builds must be more self-reliant than niche builds in a predetermined group composition. Roughly: I first look at what playstyle I want to achieve. I mean, why do I even want to play this profession?? In your case, you've already got a vision for your weapon-sets and elite spec.Since you are starting with defined weapons & elite, I'd ask myself: what traits and utilities support those weapons (i.e., more DPS)? What synergy is there between the elite spec I want and the weapons I want? What stat ranges are needed to get that DPS to where its viable? (e.g., power 2100-2400, crit chance 40-60%, etc.)What gear will provide those stats? What runes & sigils synergize with my weapons skills and stat needs? How survivable is this build? Adjust utilities and gear for survivabilityHow survivable is this build? If not ok, re-evaluate from step 3.Another way to look at it is to find a balance between these three: Maximizing synergies among weapons, traits, runes, sigils.Maximizing stats with gear that optimizes the results of those synergies.Maximize survivability.Note that 'maximizing survivability' is not coextensive with 'maximizing defensiveness'. Survivability can include 'killing rapidly' as a way to reduce total incoming damage. But that method alone can have its limitations when faced with multiple mobs, etc.
  6. This. One fucking hundred thousand times this.
  7. For open world PVE, this is working out to be a very good power Mirage:http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PihAEZlVwUYbMImJWyTrPNA-zRRYBKmKQM4yIwSIiMwk5oaGA-e With fury from traits, and might from sigil, you'll sit at around 95% crit chance and ~3000 power. With healing from Inspiration line and a seemingly endless supply of of clones/phantasms, you can survive quite well. Alternatively, you can take Domination (1-2-1) in place of Inspiration for more damage but less sustain. Greatsword is the main weapon, and staff is an unusual offhand choice, but it has its value. But axe or sword would be another option. For condi Mirage, Hizen's staff/staff build is a good place to start. It's not the most powerful, but high survivability, and ability to solo. You can then later migrate the build to an axe/torch or axe/sword variant:
  8. 'Exclusive' skins that exclude longtime loyal players will almost certainly be a slap in the face to those players. Not really sure what you mean here. Everyone would be eligible to get Twitch drops. Would just have to link ANet and Twitch accounts and watch a set number of hours of GW2 streams. Is super not hard and a lot of games to this already. That'd be really lame to make longtime players have to create Twitch accounts and watch streams to get specific skins. Edit: Minis I could see...kind of like the mini one gets for enabling two-factor auth.
  9. 'Exclusive' skins that exclude longtime loyal players will almost certainly be a slap in the face to those players. I'd be curious what % of the GW2 base ever even uses Twitch. Your view is its a large untapped reservoir of potential players - my view is that Twitch is already a niche audience and so is merely a tiny subset of potential players. Maybe the Twitchophiles are better at being evangelists for games they like than the average player? Maybe.
  10. For OW soling, I use this:http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAMdflNwWYOMG2JWsX5N9S8+cA-zxQYBlQQFzG8hEhKIWhQvSAFPA-e If I'm doing metas , bounties, etc., where I want to do some support/healing, I use this:http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAYdflVwGZcsM2JeST3t1SO3DA-zRZYBRMYFEsripA9cGJKFiQFY3B-e
  11. Specify NA or EU. If you list in LFG & map chat, you'll usually find enough people.
  12. Here is a chrono support build with wells that I use. About 90% boon uptime. Diviner trinkets, Wanderer armor, Berzerker weapons. I'm sure someone will complain they don't like it. :) Since my chrono is an alt, and I had plenty of Wanderer boxes from DS meta, I used that; besides the vitality and toughness make it more forgiving. Over time, you could probably replace it with a Diviner/Berzerker mix. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PiABs6tzlFwWYMMHWJmSX5tVA-zRhYBRL0FExZiBrQhItDhOUYESh0VAecW+fcD-e
  13. You don't specify the game mode, so I'm going to assume open world. Staff/Staff condi Mirage is quite capable - not only do you attack from range but you also evade alot, so escaping damage can be fairly easy. You can then move to a staff/axe variant for staff at range, and axe for melee - again you have alot of evades, so it's hard to get killed. Scepter/torch condi Scourge is quite capable, and can be very tanky.
  14. Normally, when hovering over an outfit you already own in the gem store, you will get the message in red: An exception to this pattern and did show the message that I owned it was: Bandit Sniper's OutfitI wonder if the single-quote character in the names is problematic for their SQL queries, and so they are supposed to be escaped, but several of their outfits do not have proper string_escapes in the text.
  15. This is way too defensive, especially that you are running torment runes. While this would be great for soloing things that are hard to solo, I would not recommend it. I like to solo things that are hard to solo. Sinister....that's an interesting thought. I sure wish I could stat-swap asc armor. But having rabid just makes my life comfortable. This is OW after all, I have no need to min-max. I like sword - personal preference: phantasmal swordsman's aggro, damage, and quickness is really great. Torch CDs are too long and pistol doesn't interest me. Staff is my alternate weapon. Chaos seems to me the more defensive line, I started with that, but I get better dmg w/Illusions.
  16. As far as I know, all the Tengu we had in GW2 before Chapter 3 were adult, male Tengu.Yet this new Tengu is neither adult, nor male. There is no reason to assume or expect little Tengu girls sound the same as adult male ones. If indeed it was a little Tengu, but it was full-sized. The voice did not fit the body.
  17. We've had in-game examples of man-sized Tengu voices all along, such as the Tengu guards near Shuttered Gate in Lion's Arch, or Kensho Arrowsoul in the guild halls. So we have reasonable expectations of what a full-sized Tengu should probably sound like.
  18. I believe its shared cooldown. Wiki page for Sigil gives this example:
  19. I dusted off my Hizen condi staff mirage, and started to play around with varying it to be an axe mirage (in open world). OMG, this is such a fun spec! Very active gameplay, yet not nearly as demanding as my weaver (thanks to the clones), and the reward/effort ratio feels much higher than weaver. It's hard to die to enemies, unless I don't pay attention. This is my current spec, which seems to work well in open world so far, after several hours of play:http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PiwAcyZlRwgYJsDmJW0XavPA-zRIYsSHwXGZmC5WBePLV5sB-e It's not perfect insofar as 1) it lacks condi cleanse, 2) maybe if I "git gud" I could swap some or all rabid with vipers or sinister, and 3) using axe 2 or 3 skills near a cliff could be problematic. But with the evades, condis are not a big deal, and the resilience is so good, I'm not sure I want to make my life stressful by getting rid of toughness. Also, I chose sword for offhand instead of torch for the illusion generation, and the shorter cooldowns - torch cooldowns are waaaaay too high, imo, despite the damage they claim to inflict. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there!
  20. The OP was having problems doing story content, so it is soloing (albeit with a smidge of NPC help).
  21. This is the current iteration of my open world power-based dual-axe Druid build. It has a good amount of CC and blinds. I was uncertain if axe and power would work well together, but I find it pretty strong. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAceNlNwWYOMG2JWsX5tdA-zxQYhojZD+QiQFErEoXhgiHA-e
  22. I was surprised to hear the loud sound that the new Mandala glider makes - it sounds like the horn of a semi tractor-trailer truck! I get the intent to make it sound epic and astral (or some something like that), but the more I hear it, the more it harkens back to "breaker, breaker, we got us a convoy!"
  23. You tried it on those four plant types, specifically? All the other plant types work fine for me - it's just these four. I'll try the repair.
