  1. There's a big difference between teleport hacking the game and teleporting a single character around to different nodes, compared to parking alt characters at a node and character swapping them out to mine the node. Knowing the difference is important.
  2. TBH the defenders of gaming purity are far more toxic to the community than any unattentive farmer could be. The defenders are mostly driven by selfishness and a sense of entitlement. That it's "their game" and everyone has to play it their way. There just needs to be some sanity here and respect what others enjoy as their play style too. This games audience goes from adrenaline junky teens to casual grandma's in their 60's. There's going to be a very large difference in play style. Now, AFK farmers that haven't moved in hours and those botting, teleporting, etc. are an issue too. Everyone needs to chill out and remember it's just... a... game...!!!
  3. Let's face it, they'd be better off resurrecting EotM. As the value of worlds was decimated, so were the weekly matches. The players that cared and played to win were lost for good. The only players left just want to log in, smash stuff, and log out, without any other concern. Alliances is just going to be a continued design failure because the people playing don't care about winning the week anymore. No matter if the teams are labeled Worlds, Guilds, Numbers, or Colors, a weekly match is the core issue. Short matches like EotM is likely to be the better design for today's players.
  4. That's a description of a problem with the collision-attributes of static objects (e.g. walls or gates). The mesmer pull is incidental. Let's see if I was a Dev would I rather,A:) Dive into the collision systemB:) Alter the one skill causing an issue. (which some players don't like anyway)
  5. Mesmer pull when spammed was barely tolerable a couple years ago. Now, after PoF, it's really not that tolerable any longer. There's simply been far too much visual and sound effect spamming that's been added to the game, especially from Scourges. The effects completely drown out and conceal Temporal Curtain's usage.
  6. They introduced instanced stories with check points. What they should do is increase the usage of check points then. I DO like instances and not using the open world for personal/living stories.
  7. Suggestion, how about on Reddit instead? Threading on Reddit is better than on this format of a forum. Also, this is so heavily moderated that it doesn't allow for a spirited conversation and openness.
  8. The higher you try to push FPS, the higher the CPU load will be. I never let a game just free spin and always have a maximum FPS set. You really won't notice if GW2 is set to 60fps but, your system will be MUCH happier for it. Even 30 fps is barely noticeable at all. If anything, I notice varying FPS more than a static lower FPS.
  9. So after all the tweaks and cleaning, are you still having issues? When was the last time the system crashed?
  10. I'm going to guess it's a Superclocked or FTW version? The EVGA factory OC'ing plus Nvidia boost brings some cards up to 20-25% over clocks. Which is hitting ridiculous levels of OC'ing. Since it's EVGA, I'd download EVGA Precision and use that to tweak settings. For a 670, I'd down clock by 50mhz and bring up the voltage to 1.012. There was a bios update from EVGA for that card. You can find it on the EVGA forums. It's likely not going to help the GW2 issue though. Have you cleaned the cache and local.dat? My wall of text above from Oct 18th has more info. Once the game creates a new Local.dat, I copy and paste the file into the same folder to create a duplicate. This way I can rename and run off duplicates and not have to worry about putting in my login info again and again.
  11. Minimum processor state> @Sir Vincent III.1286 said: Also sounds like the cooler had/has poor contact with the CPU lid. Either that or you should have a CPU cooler with far more mass. Even without the fan, a cooler should be able to absorb the thermal load passively. Spikes occurring in less than a couple seconds shouldn't occur. Adding more fans is great for redundancy. Try to make certain you have a continuous flow pattern throughout the case with the fans in a push-pull fashion. You can place higher flow fans on the intake side with filters. This creates positive pressure in the case and prevents the infiltration of dust from any seems, gaps, or holes. Also don't oversize the case.
  12. It's been 2 weeks since my last crash and I decided to start rolling back changes to see what triggers a crash again. I just crashed after changing the Windows Power Management back to "Balanced" a couple hours ago. I believe the issue for my system is the PCI Express Link State Power Management setting. While in "High Performance" mode the setting is turned to "off". When the Power management is set to "Balanced", the PCI Express Link State Power Management setting is set to "Moderate power savings". Believe this is the issue with Nvidia and Windows I've been hunting/cursing. A quick Googling came up with results for the two and I'm not even going to bother reading them atm. The only other difference between the power modes is High performance keeps the CPU at 100% at all times. While the Balanced setting allows the CPU to throttle to 5%. So I created a custom Power Plan based on the high performance mode. Then going to change the Minimum processor state to 5%. So I should have the stability and CPU throttling restored. Crossing Fingers it's the fix for me. Only other change is that there was an gw2 update tonight. Which throws a wrench into what caused it but, going with the game not being the issue for now. One change at a time :)
  13. For the Fall Creators update, Windows 10's Task Manager is going to start showing GPU load too. So with Windows "Game Mode" and them now mapping GPU's, I don't quite trust this issue not being software still. When Microsoft makes public announcements that they are aware of issues, I'm going to believe the issue is pretty wide spread. Ok first, before we delve into system, how about we clean up GW2 first? You might try deleting the gw2cache and local.dat. You'll have to have windows explorer set to view "hidden" items. Also, to not be running the game, so log out. The "Local.dat" resides in the folder:C:> Users > (Your windows acct name) > AppData > Roaming > Guild Wars 2Just delete the Local.dat and GW2 will recreate it on the next running. NOTE: make certain you have your account name and password as you'll have to type it into the launcher again!!! May also need to reset a few settings in the Games "Options". The cache is located at:C:> Users > (Your windows acct name) > AppData > Local > Temp > gw2cache+random numbersDelete the cache folder entirely. The game auto repairs the big .dat data file. You can use -repair to force it to repair the .dat. Not a bad idea to try it too. The last GW2 thing I can think of is going to the Guild Wars 2 installation folder, wherever you installed to, and find the GW2-64.exe. Right click on it and go to properties, compatibility, then tick on the "disable fullscreen optimizations". For your computer, physically clean it! Might also be a good idea to reset, take out and put back in, the video card, ram, and power supply cables. You can leave the CPU and heatsink along! If it's a laptop or you don't know what you're doing, just try to clean out the dust, etc. As I posted previously, it's important to get an exacting timeline of when the issues began to occur. If you are full blown crashing windows, you'll get a Critical level event with an ID of 41 in the Event Viewer. If the Nvidia driver hangs and recovers, you'll get a yellow warning with an Event ID of 4101. Seeing when these occur in relation to updates and software changes can help you diagnose the issue. You may notice a correlation between an update/software installation and errors. For hardware monitoring, you can try the portable HWiNFO64. It has a logging feature which you can use if you know approximately when a crash will occur. You may see voltage drops, load spikes, Temperature spikes. It also shows if you've hit the Thermal Throttling on the CPU. Quick summary of things I've read people trying to fix this.Uninstalling the Video Driver in Windows safe mode with DDU. To do so make certain you have your USB mouse and keyboard plugged into USB 2 sockets. Download the latest driver from Nvidia's website before uninstalling. For the rest, you can google how to enter safe mode for you system and how to use DDU too. Oh and turn off Nvidia GeForce Experience options or better yet, just install the drivers and not the bloatware for now. Turn off or uninstall any graphical overlays.Turn off Windows Game mode entirely. Check if there was a firmware/bios update for the video card. Might be a known issue already resolved by the manufacturer.Check if there was a firmware/bios update for the motherboard. Might be a known issue already resolved by the manufacturer. Right click on your desktop and go to the Nvidia Control Panel. Under Manage 3d Settings, you'll see power management mode, change it to Optimal Power. If that doesn't help try Maximum Performance. Right click on the Windows Start menu >>> Power options >> additional power settings >>> change the power plan to "high performance". Lastly, we have down clocking the video card and adding voltage. Messing with voltage is the last thing to try. This is the throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks list. :)
  14. There are no cure all's for this but, we can post things to try. For downclocking, since you have MSI Afterburner installed, see if you can slide the "core clock" slider to the left for negative mhz. Try just -50mhz to start. I'd be concerned if your PSU can handle the new card but, the power requirements from the 770 to 1080 are not that dissimilar.
  15. This can help get us started. Download and run it.https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ so, the GPU Core Clock is running at 300.0 MHz, and the GPU Memory Clock is running at 150.0 MHz. anything else I need to check?Tell us what the name of the card is and the default clock speed. I'm assuming you gave us the current speed which is the card throttled down at idle.Could be helpful to try Hardware Monitor. https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.htmlThen play the game for a couple minutes and it'll tells us what was the actual max clock speed the graphics card hit. Nvidia boost can go quiet high.Next will probably be to use something like Leamas's Nvidia Inspector or software from the cards manufacturer to turn it down a bit. Also, they might have been a firmware update to your card which most folks never research as the computer ages.

  17. Thank you Moostarmac, there seems to have been more of an issue with Windows and Nvidia than ATI.
  18. Runs fineRuns fineRuns finelarge windows update, nvidia update, GW2 updatecrashing Let's look at what changed here? And, since it can run stable at higher OC's for other software, that's not degradation, yet.If it was unstable for every game and benchmark, then I would agree with you it's degradation. The fall creators update is about to roll out, hopefully it with contain more fixes.
  19. I do not understand the rabid desires to buy new components instead of finding the software issues. Sure, if you have identical components on hand to swap, then swap them out. To recommend to others to spend hundreds to thousands on components, instead of thoroughly diagnosing software issues first, is reckless. After carefully reading hardware logs again, I finally noticed the Nvidia Boost was going over 25% above reference clocks while playing GW2. Now that I limited the boost to just below 20% and raised the voltage ceiling slightly, it's been rock solid. Again, this all began after the Windows 10 Creators update which was supposed to increase gaming performance. Logic would suggest, as I stated previously, it was a Windows, Nvidia, GW2 issue and not hardware. .... cue the software apologist, even though Microsoft admitted there's been performance issues from that update. Also, that it forces drivers to update on the system and can create issues.
  20. Yup, I've been researching this issue and it's been around for a decade. I just dropped my OC by less than 5% and it's been running solid. What's hilarious is that I run the frame limiter and GW2 never maxes out my card anyway. If people are having issues, set the limiter too. It's error protection more than anything.
  21. You can play it with an entirely different rig! Sure, I can run my computer on every other piece of software for hours on end without the slightest issue too. It's only playing GW2 on my OC'd Nvidia card that a hiccup occurs. Tuning the OC down to a slightly less of an OC is not a "hardware failure" either. Especially when I can jack it up further on every other piece of software I've tried. If you Google the issue you'll find it's been happening on and off for almost a decade. Solutions are mostly around properly uninstalling/installing drivers to changing the power management setting in the Nvidia Control panel to maximum performance or adding some voltage. For GW2, memory leaks are a known issue and causes crashing too. That's why clearing out the cache is a good idea from time to time. For mentioning Windows 10 Creators update, that's because it can trigger windows into installing the latest drivers. Those drivers may be incompatible with the combination of components in our computers. So it's important to look back and see when updates occurred.
  22. New Nvidia drivers are out, wondering if it's helping you?
  23. Been having a similar issue since, as best as I can recall, mid April when the Windows 10 creators update came out. There was also the 4/18 game update too and that was the earliest recorded issue in the windows event viewer. Didn't get any help from the dev's and it seems no one knows exactly what causes this. It's an Nvidia driver/Windows/GW2 issue that'll we'll have to wait for them to fix. I'll just copy and paste from another thread:Download the new Nvidia drivers and have them ready, then use DDU to uninstall Nvidia Drivers. You can google how to use DDU and where to download it.After the video drivers are done, delete the audio drivers. Try out the windows drivers to run the audio. Then clear the GW2 cache by deleting the GW2cache folder in (C:>Users>your windows account name>AppData>Local>Temp>gw2cache)Next is the local.dat file by going to (C:>Users>your windows account name>AppData>Roaming>Guild Wars 2>local.dat)Note: When you start GW2 you will have to type in your user name and password in the GW2 launcher again. Also, reset some user preferences in GW2. Most are saved in the cloud. You can also try turning down the clock on the 1080. I'm going to guess you have it OC'd or factory OC'd. Turning it down slightly may help. I turned mine OC down by just 50mhz and it helped. I used EVGA Precision since it's an EVGA card. Use whatever tuning software your vendor gave you with the card purchase.
  24. I was able to push the game and get it to pop still. Though it runs pretty stable on lower settings. Hopefully the Dev's will put some effort into streamlining and increasing efficiency. Until then, you'll have to come up with something to get your rig to run it. Wondering if your video card is factory over clocked? Might try EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, or other tuning programs and tone down the speed a bit. Say lowering it by 50mhz or so and see if it runs stable? Can even increase voltage ever so slightly too. For the game itself, it pretty much runs as a portable app. You can simply download a fresh exe from https://account.arena.net/welcome , plunk it in any folder, run it, and it'll download a fresh copy of the game. The cache and the local.dat are the two items ever really needing to be cleaned/deleted. When you start the game it recreates these folders and files automatically. So it's just delete, delete, and run the game.
  25. Not to jinx the game running but, GW2 hasn't crashed for me since the Friday update. WOOT! Only change on my end since my earlier post was deleting the audio drivers and using the windows drivers. Since I recalled there being a conflict with Nvidia and Realtek in the past. Then uninstalling/reinstalling the Razer Synapse too. One of them has fixed the issue that I've been having for 6 months! Morfedel, have you tried uninstalling the video drivers in safe mode with DDU? Download the new drivers and have them ready, then use DDU to uninstall Nvidia Drivers. You can google how to use DDU and where to download it.After the video drivers are done, delete the audio drivers. Try out the windows drivers to run the audio. Then clear the GW2 cache by deleting the GW2cache folder in (C:>Users>your windows account name>AppData>Local>Temp>gw2cache)Next is the local.dat file by going to (C:>Users>your windows account name>AppData>Roaming>Guild Wars 2>local.dat)Note: You will have to type in your user name and password in the GW2 launcher again. Also, reset some user preferences in GW2. Most are saved in the cloud. Keeping fingers crossed this fixes your issues!
