  1. Not quite the point of this thread; I understand there are other classes, but I'd like to talk more in-depth about possible changes to Dragonhunter Guardian. It has so much potential in its unlock, but it's wasted. Hello Bastrii, Unfortunately the first thing you did was compare GW2 to other MMOs like WoW. This game is specifically meant to not be like those games. Secondly, unfortunately GW2 is very unbalanced like others have mentioned before me. To get to the root of the problem you are trying to make dragon hunter something it is not. It is nothing even close to a healing build. Support yes but healing no. Another thing to keep in mind is that no build is going to be dps/healer and be able to kill things in one shot. Dps can but you give up the healing for that power and vice versa. The other thing to keep in mind is where you are using this build/class. Open world PvE, raid/fractal PvE, WvW and PvP. There are different builds for all playing platforms but remember a mixed build won’t work in anywhere but open world PvE and you have to realize that by having a mixed build you are basically making a survivability build. One in which you can kill things but it will take longer to do so. I am a main ranger but I have played all content and classes. The dragon hunter in my experience is strictly survival or dps. It really isn’t meant to be a healer. If you are looking for healing then look to druid, firebrand, tempest and scourge. If you want heals for guardian then I would go firebrand since there is major healing but do not expect it to be dps if you go the healing route. You can certainly make it a happy medium but remember it will take longer to kill things. ANet I highly doubt will change the dragon hunter to be what you want since it’s other elite specialization covers healing. While vanilla guardian covers boon support/dps and dragon hunter used to cover dps. I understand wanting everything in the esthetics of the build you like but when something else in that same class covers healing it is unlikely they will change it to make two elite specializations to cover the exact same use. The best thing for you to ask would be to free the weapons from elite specializations and allow vanilla, and elite specializations to use the elite specialization weapons. Then you could create a guardian with long bow or a firebrand with long bow and have it closer to the healing ranged attack you want. If you want help finding another class or finding a decent survival build or any build feel free to message me and I’ll give you some pointers and links to builds. All I ask is you don’t give up on the game and try some other classes or builds and to keep your mind open to the different possibilities even if they might not hit every note you want but might be able to come close.
  2. I always saw The Beast being a Mesmer. Not for me, picked guardian cause of the blue magic. Pink doesn’t really fit. If it was red or purple it would make more sense. Plus I picked it cause you can used torches on it and there are candelabra torches, plus they can also use focus and there is a mirror focus. Mesmers can use Tourchs and Focus, but have pick magic. Mesmers also can wear light armor like Beast does.True, though I use an outfit that looks exactly like the outfit from the dance scene, but for normal armor i managed to find some heavy pieces that look like his clothes at the beginning of the movie. Light armor sadly doesn’t have too many coats for guys in it, especially ones that look good on charr. Unless you were planning to make the human version. Then I’d completely agree.

  4. if you take a look on google and search GW2 cosplay you can see quite a few people that have made characters from other games/movies/cartoons. There is actually a really good Skeletor i've seen recently. Also Beast has been used many times (even I have a version) I've also made; Hawkeye, Jack Torrence (the shinning), She-Ra, He-man, Sarah Sanderson (Hocus pocus), Selene (Underworld) and Aurora (Malificent), just to name a few. I do try to match their "powers" in whatever story they are in to a profession that matches them in game or a profession that has the weapons they use, such as my Hawkeye character is a Ranger. Though most of them don't have full loadouts because they are cosplay characters for contests or they were just an idea. Though my Hawkeye is a vanilla ranger build because that is the easiest one to use longbow on. Lets see;Hawkeye (ranger/vanilla)Sarah Sanderson ( Necromancer/scourge)She-ra (1980s) (mesmer/vanilla)The Beast (Guardian/vanilla)The Grinch (Mesmer/below 80)Selene (Engineer/scrapper) (thief would work better but I specifically needed a scrapper at the time)Jack Torrence (Ranger/Below 80)Aurora (mesmer/Below 80)Jack Sparrow (Engineer/vanilla) he's an asura, quite adorable If you ever need help with character design please feel free to message me. I love making new toons and trying to match them up with the right class and make them look as good as possible in game. Good luck and as I said take a look at google, you might get some cool ideas from others. Another good place to check out is GW2 style (www.gw2style.com) . its a great website where people post their looks.
  5. As the others have said it’s not hard to level characters up and go through the story especially if you aren’t waiting on anyone and of course you can skip to living world season 2 with your new character once you reach 80 but one thing I wanted to bring to light is that if this is your first character you made you won’t want to delete it because of its birthday. It would be easier to create a new character with a new character slot since you’d be restarting anyway and just change a letter or add a letter to the name to make it slightly different. Why I suggest this is because with each bday for your character you get special items and if this is the first toon you made it would be the oldest and I don’t want you to lose out on those gifts since the new toons bday would be on the day you create it. But if this is a fairly new character that you are deleting then you wouldn’t have to worry about that. If I recall correctly they don’t have changing races because of the spaghetti code and the specific race based story choices. They would have to totally remake the main story and I am one of the people that love the original story and cut scenes where we can actually see our characters and would prefer they leave it how it is. Hope this helps :)
  6. Sadly you’ll have to do many jumping puzzles to get the star of gratitude. Each item is in a chest at the end of a jumping puzzle after doing the first bloodstone collection. I was gonna link the dulfy guide but it seems it’s been taken down. I’m sure you can find some on YouTube. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Star_of_Gratitude The grubby packages are the ones that require the jumping puzzles. A lot of them are easy there is just maybe 2 or 3 that are hard. Usually you can find someone to port you with a Mesmer but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a lot easier now. Last time I did the collection was back before HoT Wish you good luck and happy winter’s day. Feel free to message me if you need help.
  7. Hello Guardian, First thing I’d like to address. Crafting in this game can be complicated but you quickly learn how things work by actually doing crafting. Since you’ve only been back less than a month. Either you already had leveled your crafting from way before or you just charged in to make ascended items which is why you were so confused and lost. Those coming into the game brand new will have to start from level 0 and by the time they get to 400-500 crafting they’ll figure out how things work. Also the great thing about this game is you’ll always have helpful people that will help. Ask in any of the main cities and the new people will get help. Secondly, you have been back for less than a month. You haven’t played through HoT or PoF unless you went to PoF to get mounts. Either way if you haven’t played through the expansion areas you SHOULD NOT be doing Raids. There are many mechanics introduced in HoT and PoF that are in the raids and you’ll have no idea how to handle them. (Despite watching videos, without playing that content you wouldn’t know how to recognize the indicators of those mechanics) Also since you haven’t been in HoT you don’t have gliding or mushroom jumping which are used again in several of the first raids you’d in counter. Raiding groups and specifically mesmers wouldn’t want to have to port you up in each raid. So please go through HoT and PoF first. Get your masteries leveled up: gliding, bouncy mushrooms, itzel poison lore ,etcetera. As well going through those zones you’ll unlock the elite specializations which are generally needed in comps for Raids. Very few vanilla builds are used in Raids because they simply don’t give out as much as the elites. Thirdly, many people in this community don’t want others to be able to look at our gear. That is why there isn’t a check gear and thus why speed run groups or static raiding groups ask for KP. It is essentially the player base’s way of checking your AR. This issues is solely the elite raiders asking this, it is not ANet creating this and many would be upset if raids were locked behind another wall. For yourself I would recommend searching for a guild that does training raids you can find them here on the forums. Finally, GW2 raids aren’t like other games raids. There are many more mechanics and they are much more complicated. As others have stated raids can be done in exotic gear. The biggest thing is knowing mechanics and knowing your class. Knowing your rotation helps but with the mechanics that rotation will be interrupted and knowing your toon will help you adapt there. It sounds like you’ve done fractals, which is a good start. The biggest thing you have to realize is raids aren’t like normal raids they take a lot longer and a lot more concentration. Knowing the mechanics and knowing your own class and knowing what builds to bring depending on comp and the specific fight. In the end keep looking for actual training groups. Weather in LFG or finding a training raid guild. You’ll get there. But first make sure to get your masteries and your elite specializations via going through the HoT story and PoF story and exploring the world. Welcome back to GW2 by the way.
  8. I've been around since the first year this game was out and I still go back and play the personal story. Frankly I want to keep the cut scenes. I extremely dislike the new way they have made the new Living World episodes and everything after the personal story. The cut scenes allow you to see your character up close and personal with actual facial animations and proper emotional reactions. The new way has cut all that out and simply has characters doing emotes and their jaws opening and closing. There is no proper animation. I've never understood people liking to be able to hop around and move while a serious conversation is going on. As well doing it the new way has resulted in not being able to skip anything. Which means you go through all the talking just to do one achievement. At least in the old personal stories you can skip cut scenes if you really want to and it allows people in a group to individually skip cut scenes rather than having to stand there and listen to it all. As well having characters speak in the open world has been HORRIBLE for immersion. Having 20 or more people stacked upon the NPC so you can't see anything but the chat bubble above their heads. As well this is an MMO many people before you have suggested making everything solo content. I prefer to keep dungeons to 5 man and the zhitan fight actually happens to be one of my favorites. I was very disappointed with it when they changed it to be single player especially since if you had a good enough group you could run it with 3 or less. Having it as a solo fight degrades it and makes it look to simple to kill this huge dragon that has been the bane of Tyria's existence for quite some time. This is a multiplayer game. Don't make it a single player game. There are many many RPGs that can be played on their own. To add to that the original content is all spaghetti' code. It is extremely hard for them to update it without breaking many things. It is the reason why Dungeons were replaced with fractals. Its also why LW season 1 hasn't come back to the game except in fragments that aren't actually the original instances, instead they are remade to fit into strikes or fractal format and are literally built from the ground up. To do what you a proposing it would basically be a whole expansion worth of content for them to rebuild and if they had to bring back voice actors several voice actors have left over the years including both the female and male charr voice actors from the original story. though I would love to see Living Worlds Season 1 back, i would prefer it not to be made into similar instances like the new living world. Instead have it like festivals and have it as close to the original as possible. The cut scenes that are in the original content are wonderful and have great art and animations. I would love more cut scenes like in the personal story or like the cut scenes for Ice Brood saga that are actually properly animated and you can see everything. Standing there listening and reading speech bubbles is immersion breaking and takes away from the beautiful art and animation that we once had.
