  1. We do get some new skins though, the hard light weapons are especially cool. Going to be doing tribulation mode again tonight; my only wish is they'd remove infinite continue coins so it wouldn't be possible to cheese through it. I am howeve4 confident that tribulation cloud on w2z2 will be taking plenty of souls to the afterlife this April.

  2. Yeah the single dodge is just GG against players, it's telegraphed and once it lands even if your opponent has to dodge the drop, they are now ahead in the stamina game. I tried Vindi in wvw in beta and it was just clear that nothing short of making the profession OP can bolster the lack of double dodge. It's a really fun change to open world PvE, which is fine for me - since now I am not running variations of the same build in both PvE and WvW, but the PvP application is going to be second rate.

  3. Man, I don't miss the double dodge. I quite like the elite, I've not tried it in wvw yet because the dodge is definitely... dodgy, there. But in open world it's loads of fun. Vindi gives you so many tools to work with, the skill flip is like a third legend. I no longer run through the same legend/weapon double swap as I used to with regular Rev to cycle every available offensive skill. With Vindi you can easily aggro huge clouds of mobs and simply mix in some blue skills to increase sustain when needed. It's pretty great, to be honest. I thought it'd suck kitten but there we go. Nothing beats the satisfaction of finishing a fight with dropping onto someone's head.

  4. I find celestial Vindicator to be pretty sustainable, you certainly do have tons of movement abilities with the pair of Vindi utility 1 skills plus greatsword 3. You can also use f2 to gain endurance back for a faster dodge. I find in harder fights it's imperative to cycle your red/blue skills for maximum damage and sustain; just using all red then flipping to Shiro is going to get you mullered. The lack of breakbar damage is, in my opinion, the Elite's biggest stumbling block. Maybe if blue utility 3 also caused a daze and did breakbar damage, things would be better.

This is the hill anet will die on. Instead of just taking the easy win and calling vindicator dragoon with some massive aerial attacks and a spear weapon transform, they went down this road. Instead of taking the winning path and just giving guardian a paladin spec, we get willybender.

They are so dedicated to not taking winning path when it is handed to them on a silver platter. Now they have a balancing nightmare they will never address (vindicator), traits that dont work(particularly willbender since its passives are removed and its core traitlines modify the passives), and are doing jack kittening kitten for competitive game modes.

It's in the culture of game developers as a subset of all people involved with creative work to do exactly that. Why take the simple, efficient path when you can reinvent the wheel and leave your mark on the world? Sometimes that yields exciting results, often though it just causes more headaches.

its funny, because they actually had to nerf both of those examples SEVERAL times.

and most of the players, who bought hot wanted more core game

but please continue, ncsoft have plenty of experience in dealing with hardcore games

And the nerfs were entirely needless. The areas were fine. They designed for players to work together, something that most respondents in this thread are apparently allergic to. I did the HoT hero points in TD solo the other day using an alacrity support renegade, they were a joke. Game developers should not design mechanics around people who refuse to learn; it's a lost cause, and diminishes the quality of the game. Threads like this do not necessarily reflect the majority opinion of players, they are an echo chamber.

  7. Ah yes, the infamous 'skill check' last seen in Heart of Thorns, first observed when players arrived in Orr. It would appear that Arena Net over estimated the desire of players to work together to eventually succeed. B-but I didn't win! I didn't. WIN! Scream the players who thought this was a massively solo RPG. Why?! They shout, why couldn't we just get everything on a silver platter?! Oh. Arena Net. How dare you introduce the spectre of failure to... whatever the gaming community has become.

PS it's fine try again it's just a game you can't win every time

  8. OK, so, hit your H key yeah? Done that? Cool. At least I think it's H. Anyway, bring up your build window. Next, and this is crazy I KNOW. But. I'm going to need you to make a new build. Shocker right? Yeah. A new build, with, like, stuff that helps smash break bars. You might want to switch weapons too. Crazy stuff, this.

  9. I actually like it for those qualities, all the sfx for vindi are great. I can understand though, that its overdriven nature will annoy people with particular audio configurations. It really does stand out against the rest of the sound stage, and could do with an adjustment to its loudness. For reference, I am using beyerdynamic dt 990s (250 ohm) and a soundblaster ae7 to amplify them. If I turn up the volume Nomad's Advance is over powering.

No the change isn't stupid because it's obvious Anet wants weapon swap sigils to trigger on weapon swaps. Imagine that the weapon swap sigils working on Revenant the same way they work on the other classes that have weapon swaps. Who would have expected such a strange thing to happen.

Because what other classes do has nothing to do with how Revenant does it. Why is there is constant (and fake) link being made between how classes work? I don't really get your point here ... on other classes that have weapon swaps, like Revenant, this siglls work as described ... for some reason you think Revenant should be an EXCEPTION to that? Care to explain why?

"Imagine that the weapon swap sigils working on Revenant the same way they work on the other classes"

"Because what other classes do has nothing to do with how Revenant does it"

  11. So how does the difficulty here compare to pre-nerf Orr, and Heart of Thorns? I really enjoyed the difficulty of both of those, and having to work with other players to complete the larger event stages (though not necessarily needing help constantly). It seems like I should get cracking with the expansion before the inevitable pandering to skill clickers and those who insist on only playing on their elbows.

  12. From the stream it really looks odd, like something made using the Build engine (Duke Nukem 3D), or some early 2000s experiment requiring lots of fog to reduce draw distance, with massive restrictions on geometric complexity and layout. It doesn't look even remotely finished, for example there are rails missing from the edges of sheer drops, some buildings look like they have no textures. I don't see how it will be finished by release, since they should be into final testing phases by now.

Joke's on you, I can just repeatedly throw my corpse at most bosses till I'm naked and victorious.

I confess to having done this on occasion in some games that allowed the player to re-engage before the event had reset, inspite of punitive measures. I believe I ended up meleeing a boss in Bioshock Infinite to death after my repeated failures exhausted all ammo. It took ages and screwed me over, but it felt good.

  14. Yes, ANet. Come to your senses! You made some encounters and fighty thingies where the player might actually... Jesus, I can't say it. It's too horrible. But. But ANet, the players:

    They might lose.

There. I said it. Truly the scariest time to be alive - Sometimes, sometimes players actually have to pay attention to mechanics and timings and draw a line that makes sense across those three build specialization drawings tucked away in that tab not everyone seems to know exists.
