  1. So the Strike is going to be at Lions Court, which means its not the Prime Hologram fight, because that took place atop the Breechmaker in the bay. It must be the Strike Knights then.
  2. Technically her clockwork army was revealed in the closing ceremony, but it was created before. She had to reprogram them before she could hit the switch so to speak. It seems i was wrong on this one, she was hinted at, but a name drop alone doesn't really count as proper build up in my book. I was around too man, i remember the community outrage as well. Obviously this is a case of us recalling the issues that were most meaningful to us personally.
  3. Fair enough. Correction, as of the time of the Queens Jubile she had three armies. The Molten Alliance, the Aetherblades and the Twisted Clockwork Army. So yes, at that time it was a big reveal that she was the mastermind behind all the recent troubles. It may have been in the middle, but given the original broken up cadence of episodes, it felt like a long way in. Me, and a lot of other players, felt all the hints dropped in blogs and such, that ANet had posted on their website, youtube and twitch, did not count as proper story build up, as it was not actually in the story. Also wasn't the name drop in sky pirates added in the rerelease? That may have been one of the reasons, and perhaps the most important to you personally, but it wasn't the only. Don't try to tell me what i didn't like.
  4. I don't disagree that these two pieces of content(Twlight Abor Aetherpath and Twisted Marionette) are of a different level of importance to the story, my point was that ANet gave them the same side story treatment, by regulating them to achievements instead of including them in the story journal. By extension my point was i don't think they will add TM to the story journal(at least not short term), because they already added it to the Tower of Nightmares achievements, in the very same manor that they skipped including the Aetherpath into the story journal after adding it into the Clockwork Chaos achievements. IE these two pieces of content are in the same situation, even if arguably they shouldn't be. That said, i agree the TM got the short side of the stick, as it: 1. Didnt get a letter inviting the player to explore it. 2. Isnt required in the meta achievement 3. Is still located in the Eye of the North, which is immersion breaking for players playing this the first time.
  5. Its a good fight, but an epic scarlet fight is what we are missing. But that's the problem, it should be. As your saying, she wasn't well liked, because she was credited for building four armies and awakening a dragon, but she was introduced very late in season 1 and it was hard to accept this mastermind that appeared out of nowhere and had very little build up. They fixed a lot of that this time by shortening and compacting season 1 (so it didn't feel like she came in so late this time), as well as by adding lore pages and recordings, as well as a few informative instances where we gather with our friends to talk about her. But what she is still lacking is a good fight that truly shows off how dangerous she was. At this point we only ever fight her once, at the jubile, and i think to really cement her a proper villain, a final climatic fight is needed. Eh, they've added and changed a few instances, what's one more? Plus i think the climax of the season is the most worthy for a redo, as it should be the biggest fight, as its the climax.
  6. We wont. They did the same thing with the Twisted Marionette that they did with the Twilight Abor Aetherpath, just added it as a side achievement in the previous episode that unlocks upon completing the last story step. At least with aetherpath, you also got a letter that further directed you to the next (hidden) story step. But with TM they didnt even send a letter, you just have to find it in your achievements, which i dont think the average player does, which means many people will miss out on this story step.
  7. I can agree that it its current form, it would make a terrible strike. However id also argue in its current form it is a terrible exodus to the season's villain. Some things are worth redoing, and scarlet who is not only the main villain of this season/story arc, but also has a resounding impact that continues all the way into expansion three, deserves a more epic way to go. Something that really makes her feel more threatening, and earns her the infamy that she is long remembered for. I mean, currently, we only ever fight her once, at the end of the playhouse. If she is on her last legs, its merely a matter of rewriting it so that she is not AS severely injured. Instead make her a wounded, cornered tiger, who fights all the more ferociously because she is in a terrible situation.
  8. I mean, you just have their public access available at different times, lile how the Twisted Marionette opens at a different time than Dragonstorm does, despite the entrance to both being at the same place. Is scarlets end really that easy? i guess its been so long I forgot. That said, id argue that it could and should, be an actual fight, and this is the perfect time to fix that.
  9. I could see this happening. A merge fits their release cadence metric without having to throw content away. So you mentioned other than the three strike knights the other events and champs are generic adds, but i fail to see a problem with that, it sounds like every other meta to me. You have your core boss(es) and you have your add ons; that's what makes a meta. Retaking lions arch was, and should be again, an epic battle where the players ban together to push scarlets forces out. And the only way you can capture the scale of that encounter, is with a dragonstorm instance. And just because they haven't done two dragonstorm style events in one release before, doesn't mean they cant. Conversely, as with the original scarlet fight, that was more personal. After all the forces of tyria reclaimed the city and secured the breachmaker, the commander went in with his small team alone to face scarlet. This just screams strike mission. Its the same set up as the nightmare tower, everyone climbs to the top together, and then you go into the main chamber alone. (For what its worth, i feel the Nightmare Incarnate, could have been tweaked to raise the challenge level and turned into a strike as well. Missed opportunity IMO) I invision the retaking LA meta in 3 stages: 1. Clear out scarlets troops (the add events) 2. Defeat the strick knights 3. Defeat the prime hologram to take the breachmaker
  10. You listed 8 story steps but since all of season one has been 5-6, i strongly feel some will get cut. Although to be fair I think its totally fine that a finale is longer than the rest of the season. It just depends how much work the devs want to do.. I also disagree that the liberation will be the strike. So far strikes have always been key bosses, so it makes more sense to have a scarlet boss. Also the liberation of lions arch is more than just a boss fight with the prime hologram, its much more suited to be another dragonstorm.
  11. This is the most ridiculous argument I've ever read. Are you just trolling? You do realize thag technically the Skyscale is free, right? You don't buy the Skyscale, you earn it. Money has nothing to do with it, and thus neither does capitalism... Even in socialism, everyone is expected to work their fair share, you cant just do nothing and expect everything to be given to you. Also, what people who complain about how difficult, time consuming, and/or expensive it is to get the Skyscale don't understand, is that the achievement quest isn't an annoying gate blocking your progress, its story content. And skyscales aren't just mounts, they are characters. And just like any other character who joins your party, you have to befriend them through story missions first. And that's exactly what you do in the unlock quest. 1. You find out the skyscales are sick and dying 2. You discover how/why they are dying 3. You find a way to cure them and save their race 4. You raise the first new generation 5. You bond with one of the new generation, building a deep attachment 6. You help your new friend grow and build a saddle for them All of this adds value to the mount, and if you take it away/skip it, they are just a generic mount like in any other game. A perfect example is my raptor. There is zero back story, its just a mount i bought at the raptor stables, nothing more, we dont have a real connection, he just works for me. But my skyscale is an actual adventure companion, with a backstory and a bond.
  12. First, im honestly surprised this thread is still a thing... Some people just cant let it go... What you want, wont come to be, now move on already. Now onto this particular comment... Rewards are the only reason people do anything in a game. *When you kill a monster, you do it for the Rewards of gold, gear you can use or sell, materials you can craft with and sell, and XP to help you level. *When you do a quest, you do it for the Rewards of gear, gold, materials, XP, and story progression. *When you kill a boss or complete a dungeon or raid, you do it for the Rewards of gear, gold, materials, XP, story progression, and prestige. *When you do a story mission, you do it for the Reward of seeing the story unfold as well gaining gear, gold, materials, and XP. Rewards are a way to showcase your achievements, they are bragging rights, that declare 'I did this!' Whether to others, or just to yourself. Rewards are goals to work towards, tied to roadmaps helping you get there, and challenges you have to overcome to do so. By which your character's power and your skills as a gamer grow in the process, making rewards also a form of progression, how you grow stronger. Were there no rewards, there would be no goals, no incentive to do anything, no reason to want to play and replay, to grind for hours, or keep replaying a difficult battle that you continue to struggle with. It would be a dead game because there would be no point in doing anything. While to varying degrees everybody enjoys some form of challenge, just for the sake of the challenge, there's nothing as annoying as working your kitten off and getting nothing for it.
  13. ***Warning, SPOILERS, this prediction is based off the original LWS1 final releases*** So i think the final episode will be broken into five parts: 1. Story Instance where we discover Scarlet's plans in her secret cave hideout beneath the Durmon Priory, and rush to Lions Arch, but arrive too late. 2. Scarlet's invasion of Lions Arch, forcing us to defend the city while it evacuates. - I see this as the first of two 50 squad Instanced Metas, with a Public/Private option. 3. The fight to recapturing Lions Arch and reach the Breach Maker- the second 50 squad Instanced Meta, with a Public/Private option. 4. Story Instanced fight against Scarlet in the Breach Maker, with a significantly harder re-playable Strike Mission version. 5. Conclusion Story Instance with Braham, Rox, Kasmeer, and Marjory (i don't remember if we had such a story instance in the original release, but I know they like to add post battle pow wows, so id be surprised if they don't include this.)
  14. New patch, new bugs. Make sure to report it. Then its just a matter of time, they'll fix it.
  15. They don't need to change anything, they can keep the fight as an instance, and just move the access point so it flows more naturally with the story.
  16. I mean, that's not that hard to fix. Delete the "mist stranger," and add the Twisted Marionette as an additional destination option at the Thunder Ridge Camp chopper. Conversely they could have also moved the instance entrance to its point of interest, and just had a mail or something directing us to go there and check it out. Both options would have made the story flow better, and either way its an easy fix, because they don't have to chance the instance itself, just the entrance. The reason this matters is, because when we are doing the story in canonical order, it doesn't make sense to go to the Eye of the North base, which, at this point of the story, we shouldn't have unlocked yet(and new players wouldn't have unlocked yet), to talk to a "Mist Stranger" about 'revisiting the fight', when we are actually doing the real fight(not the vision) for the first time. It is both an easy fix, and one that just makes sense, so why didn't they do it?
  17. While it also wasn't required as a story journal step, at least after completing the final Clockwork Chaos chapter, you got a letter from Caith directing you to the Twilight Arbor Aetherpath. They didn't even do that much for the Twisted Marionette, they just added an achievement that your average player probably wont even find. >.>
  18. I don't think you understood my point. Saying 'people have asked for it longer', or 'more people have asked for it' is not an adequate method of measuring player demand, BECAUSE, race tracks have the advantage of time. Of course if there is more time, people will have asked for it longer. Of course if there is more time, it will have accumulated more threads and post requesting it. But had race tracks and the EoDs expansion came out at the same time, race tracks would not have had the advantage of time, and only then, when they both shared a level playing field, could we count the requests coming in for each to see which was desired more. Im assuming that if they were able to develop them prelaunch for the other two expansions, they could have developed them prelaunch for this one too. Regardless of how difficult it is to make these decorations, they set a precedence... And then failed to live up to it. For arguments sake however, lets say I do assume "new decorations are made easily". I have noticed many/most decorations are virtually copies of assets used in the open world. So to extrapolate upon that observation, I theorize that to make decorations, they take pre-existing assets already in the game and either recode them, or add code to them, to make them available/placeable in the guild hall as well. That said, if this theory is correct, with the exception of decorations that did not have pre-existing assets in the game(such as the holographic race tracks), it shouldn't take much time at all to make these decorations, as they have already been made, and merely need to be recoded. If that is the case, it would actually be faster and easier to make EoD decorations than the new race track decorations. Of course, this is just amateur speculation on my part, so I could be wrong.
  19. Well as race track decorations came out years ago and EoDs was just released, that's not really a fair comparison. Of course there will be years worth of post for something that has been out for years, that doesn't indicate people want it more. My issue is that an expansion is a major release that updates features, but the guild hall feature only received a new GH and 2 decorations. Its like they forgot about it. Then instead of amending this in the next couple updates, they give us race decorations. Which while a nice added bonus, are not in the same league as expansion decorations.
  20. I might be remembering incorrectly, but I believe both HoT and PoF had tens of decorations at launch. As they proved they can do it, they have no reason to have not done it. They really dropped the ball this time. I mean especially when Guild Halls as a feature has received so few updates since its the release, the very least they can do is keep up with the decorations.
  21. That honestly further exasperates the problem, they can come up with so many track decorations, but cant make more than two expansion decorations? I feel like their priorities are off.
  22. 2 new festival decorations, but still no new EoD decorations????? You're behind!
  23. I appreciate you zeroing in on the details, its been a long time since ive done it myself.
  24. I second this, I enjoyed the story behind it of saving the skyscale race from extinction
