SOTO 10. Treachery disconnect
sunrun.4521 replied to mezuzel.4987's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
I've tried it a few more times and still can't get it to progress. On the latest attempt, Peitha got to the line "I just want to stop you and your "king" from detroying ours." and then Cerus disappeared and I'm left standing in the map with the Supression ability but with nothing to fight against. This is ridiculous. And it takes so long to retry it. EDIT: Finally, it worked and didn't bug out! 🥲 -
SOTO 10. Treachery disconnect
sunrun.4521 replied to mezuzel.4987's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
I've got the same problem. I finish the fight, then it disconnects me and throws me back to the character selection screen with ZERO progress recorded. I can't complete the story. After wasting so much time on the Valdhertz Crypt the other day and now this, I'm starting to get pretty kitten frustrated. -
Copy Paste Features for Chat
sunrun.4521 replied to Icethorn.6570's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I would absolutely love to be able to copy text from the chat as well. Even if we can't click links, just to be able to copy text out of the chat would be fantastic. I imagine it'd involve them having to implement some kind of selection system, but if they don't want to go to the effort to do that, let us right click on a line and have a menu that copies the entire line. -
Ping issue [Merged]
sunrun.4521 replied to eatapplegoood.5732's topic in Account & Technical Support
Same problem here in Taiwan for the past few days, again. It's essentially unplayable - either it won't log in, or it won't complete a map load, or if it does it's incredibly slow with pings averaging 1200+ and then starts saying it can't contact the log in server. It's seems like it's impacting most of south east Asia, and it feels pointless contacting support about this because the last time I tried that nothing seemed to happen - they just blame it on your ISP even though it's clearly affecting a large player base in multiple countries and multiple ISPs. -

I'm in Taiwan and having the same problem, which started in the past couple of days. It's essentially unplayable now - I can't even complete an event to do the daily because it's too slow and keeps disconnecting. (it's not my ISP - everything else is fine) -

Thanks so much for confirming that a fix has been figured out! Great news! -

Really hoping this is fixed in the next patch because it's unplayable at the moment. Similarly I'd really like to be able to see the new store items (like the ears!) but alas... This should be treated as a very high priority bug, so it's disappointing not to be getting any more updates about it. -

Chiming in to say I have this issue too - all the previews including the Hero panel Equipment view are all completely blank for me. It's frustrating. I'm running 1:1 native res with DPI Scaling enabled. -
Buy Gems with Visa problem
sunrun.4521 replied to Derlac.5436's topic in Account & Technical Support
Just posting this as another thing to try... I recently had the other issue when buying gems, where it briefly shows a red error message like "unfortunately an error occurred, please try again later" at the top of the window when you try to pay (either credit card or PayPal). The thing that fixed it for me was logging into my account on the website and removing all of the networks from Account > Security > Authorized Networks, and not saving my current network when logging into the game with 2FA. Who knows why, but that fixed it for me, so that's another thing to try if you're getting the red error message issue. Otherwise... best to contact the billing team! -
Not sure which professionals you're talking about, but all the professionals I know use Macs at work. Apple is huge in the professional market. Web programmers, Android and iPhone game and app developers, graphics designers, video editors, sound engineers, photographers... all use Macs at their workplaces. And every day I see about a 3:2 split of Mac/PC laptops for people in the services industries like insurance, accounting, etc. All the major game engines already support Metal, too, and have for years, which is why a huge number of Steam games run on Mac as well now (including the new M1 Macs via Rosetta translation - often better than they did on Intel Macs). It's just that ArenaNet uses an outdated custom engine - even on Windows, where they can't even move it past DX9.

For the sake of completeness, here's their "An update on Mac support for Guild Wars 2" post (which should be titled "Ending of Mac support for Guild Wars 2"): https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/121605/an-update-on-mac-support-for-guild-wars-2 -

sunrun.4521 replied to Jon Olson.8439's topic in Account & Technical Support
It works on M1s using Rosetta translation built into macOS Big Sur, according to https://applesilicongames.com Of course performance would be better if they recompiled it (as it would if they did a proper Metal port... it'd be killer, as demonstrated by other games), but given their complete lack of interest in Mac users I doubt that's going to happen any time soon. (edit: typo) -
M1 Apple Silicon Client ? Where is it ?
sunrun.4521 replied to commops.7164's topic in Account & Technical Support
Guild Wars 2 works on M1s using Rosetta translation built into macOS Catalina, without needing to be recompiled. (of course it would be better if they did recompile it, but it seems unlikely that they'll do that) You can check people's reports about game compatibility at: https://applesilicongames.com -
Feedback: Guild Wars 2 Mac 64-Bit Client
sunrun.4521 replied to Jon Olson.8439's topic in Account & Technical Support
Despite Mac marketshare increasing each year, it's clear that ArenaNet doesn't care about Mac users. When was the last time they even bothered to reply to anyone here? They just don't care. Every other game I can think of has already switched to native Metal rendering and runs beautifully, while GW2 is embarrassingly bad. I've never seen a game company that values their players less. -
Crashes after Lunar New Year

The Mac client really needs some love... I know that game engines are super complicated and bugs happen, but it feels like not enough testing is being done for the Mac. -

Update: at the suggestion of GW2 support, I finally did the nuclear option of reinstalling the game from scratch, and amazingly it's fixed the full screen graphics corruption issues for me on Catalina! -
The scrambled graphics issue is new as of Catalina and happens in fullscreen mode, but not in windowed mode. I've got the same issue and have submitted a ticket about it as well. GW2 is still using OpenGL on macOS. OpenGL was "deprecated" as of 10.14, but it's not yet "removed". Apple has a two step process for removing an API: first they mark it as "deprecated", where it's still available but no longer supported and shouldn't be used, then they remove it completely in a future version. The clock is ticking for ArenaNet... I wouldn't be surprised if next year's macOS 10.16 is when OpenGL is dropped completely (Adobe just finished removing all OpenGL/OpenCL code from Creative Cloud apps...).

Yep, same here. It's even more scrambled than that! Hopefully they can come up with a fix for full screen mode on Catalina because windowed is not much fun. -

sunrun.4521 replied to Jon Olson.8439's topic in Account & Technical Support
The reason is that Apple's OpenGL implementation has had no optimisation or improvements in a very long time and only supports an old version of the standard. Years before Apple announced Metal they had already stopped improving the OpenGL drivers, so when Apple introduced Metal, most game developers quickly started the work to transition to it due to the huge performance gains it provides. Sadly Arenanet didn't take this path, but they should see the writing on the wall now that Apple has deprecated OpenGL on macOS. If they don't transition soon, and Apple drops OpenGL in the next version of macOS, they'll be left without a functioning game. That would be pretty sad, because it would mean I won't be able to play GW2 any more.
