  1. HAHAHAHA, this is the update to the horrid balance patch?? @Cal Cohen.2358 "We HeArD yOuR fEeDbAcK..." NO. YOU. DIDN'T. If you heard our feedback, your response wouldn't be to just "tweak numbers", do a little reshuffling here and there and call it good. It's nice to know that you completely ignored the community's feedback and are making changes how you see fit. What a joke of balance lead and team. Good luck because you're going to need it when the summer expansion sales plummet and Anet looks for a scapegoat to axe.
  2. Lmao, this sorry kitten balance patch went through without any adjustments. What happened to "we will monitor for your feedback"? That's right, that's just pr talk. They dont listen to feedback because if they did, they would have seen this 50+ thread and realized that the vast majority did not want these changes. Also, its outright hilarious that Anet is selling a half-assed, 1/3 of an expansion on release with quaterly updates to follow. When we know they couldn't release a full expansion, everything included at launch BECAUSE they redistributed their resources to their unannounced project. You are paying more for less. ThE yEaR oF Gw2 is effectively dead for me.
  3. How many times do we have to bare witness to your own incompetency in balancing your own game. You make statements like "we have been keeping an eye on the Mech complaints about how its difficult to play around the Mech" - AND THEN go and put an even more punishing change so that we CONTINUE to play around the Mech???? Do you even listen to the feedback?? We do not want to play around our pets!! Any class that has a secondary AI should never be forced to play around that AI, that has always been the issue. If you truly heard our feedback and wanted to make it easier, you should make the radius light up when we are out of range so that we know to go back in??? Like it does now?? Put some visual indicator around the mech or the player?? And you know, not a massive cooldown that is going to TOTALLY tell the player to get back in range, AFTER THE FACT??? How about scourage? Did we really need to kill heal scourage to get a alac scourage??? You couldn't keep heal scourage as is, in addition to adding alac scourage? Seems child-like decision-making, "We will give you x but you will have to give me y" simply because having 2 viable builds on one class is just too much, LMFAO what the f?? Specter no longer applies alac from wells? Well shoot, what will wells be used for now then? Warrior? 3 > 1 arc divider... LOL, yall gota be trolling at this point. Overall, sounds like you want players to play very specific builds thus build diversity is fundamentally dieing. Its been dieing since last year's June balance patch, and its clear that this is the route you're headed. No more crafting your own build when Anet makes only one trait line viable, killing all other options. Oh and yeah, dropping patches on Friday so you don't have to face the music, LOL. We know you don't listen to feedback anyways because if you did, you wouldn't be dropping such atrocious changes. Can't wait to see what the "summer expansion" holds, LOL.
  4. @Josh Davis.7865 "We have learnt from this experience, we won't ever just drop updates on a Friday ever again" Drops design balance notes on Friday "Sorry, not ideal I know but better than nothing right, right??" And everyone came to bat for you, believing you wouldn't drop it Friday, LMFAO Thanks Anet, not only did you have to take 2 weeks AFTER you already dropped the patch to make up sorry excuses to explain your "balance design notes" but the notes don't explain squat. You want to make all classes more viable, why the bloody hell are some classes dead and some camp 1,1,1,1,1,1 and do 30k? Its good to know you're directing this game straight into the trash, Josh, good job. Keep letting your unqualified and arrogant devs make personal changes to their favorite classes while nerfing other classes to death, while you hide behind the typical PR BS speech "we value the community's voice and feedback". Where in this patch or the notes were there any changes because of community feedback? You don't listen to community feedback and you never have. Friends and guilds have quit, I hope more do after this.
  5. 1. Grouch addresses those who were toxic but fails to address the unprofessional behavior of his own developer or those who actually made legitimate suggestions. 2. Grouch refuses to address why they have a person who only has one year of experience in GW2, 2k hours in FB, making balance changes to their personal biases. 3. Streamers in the secret discord, who defended Anet’s lack of integrity by condemning the community for speaking out, did so to defend themselves for being found out. As they knew full well that a small group of people directing how the game should be played would outrage the community because these streamers and devs have their own personal agendas and bias and do not represent the community. 4. Funnily, those streamers’ suggestions were still ignored by the dev. 5. Writing the justification for the balance changes AFTER they released the balance patch shows that no thought went into the changes. It was not planned out and the balance team did what they personally wanted and it still got approved. Which can now be supported by the leaked conversations showing a dev making previous changes per his likes/dislikes. 6. Even after listening to the community’s voice, Grouch releases the patch and his reasoning for not delaying has more to do with so that they are not behind schedule rather than “systems already set in place”. 7. Release day: changes are as bad as the notes stated, senseless and poorly thought out with additional stealth nerfs. 8. Balance philosophy is to come out in a week, meaning the foundational values that GW2 have stood on for so long have changed. They are moving away from class identity, unique abilities and freedom to play however you like, towards standardization: where everyone is equal but not really. 9. In this patch, everyone is able to give quickness or alacrity but some classes will lose all ability to do literally anything else while they do, whereas some remain DPS bulldozers while pumping out multiple boons. The core values of Gw2 are no longer what it used to be and its time to move on. The game director is standing by the way this balance patch came to fruition; how a balance team was able to make senseless changes without justification and still got it approved. He is standing by how an unqualified dev has been freely able to make previous changes to certain classes based on his personal biases. He is standing by this dev and his unprofessional and arrogant view and engagement with the players and community. He is standing by the new vision of how Gw2 should be played; the new balance philosophy of making every class equal but not really. Gw2 will lose all the reasons that made it different from other MMOs. Gw2’s selling point was its unique class identities and ability to make whatever build you like to play however you like. With this gone, what’s going to be their buy-in for the fourth expansion when all the classes are the same? Because lets be honest, it was the elite specializations that kept players and gained new players. Without new unique elite specs and actual unique abilities, it’ll become another MMO with new maps, new pets, new skins and mounts, so nothing exciting really. And with how poor the marketing for this game is, it’ll suffer greatly.
  6. @Josh Davis.7865 How will you monitor community feedback to the balance update tomorrow? What metric do you use to measure this? How are you going to measure whether players "enjoy" the incoming dead warrior class tomorrow? If no one plays it, because no one will, how will you know that what you did made a positive impact and or how to improve the class? According to your own developer, he nerfed the catalyst because he saw a group of top players stack the class to do "insane" damage. Is this your method of collecting community feedback? Is this how you go about in monitoring the impacts of your balance patches? By looking at how the top players perform and then decide they're overperforming and so a nerf to their classes must be done? You said you are working on ways to include the "community voice". I cannot stress enough how its time to find a way to actually open up discourse between you and the community, where the community's voice is actually included in these changes, as it is imperative for your reputation and the future of the game's success long-term . Do you think the player-base will look forward to the Fourth Expansion after how little you valued their voice in this balance patch or what they suggested to fix the patch or make it more bearable? Its a direct contradiction to everything you mentioned in your response about valuing the community voice, as you turned right around and said, oh well, we'll just fix it in Mid-fall. Lets not forget that we are your target audience. You want us to keep coming back for your service. If you change the trajectory of Gw2's, its values and or beliefs and move towards a game model where you'll make the game however you like, then I wish you the best of luck in retaining players. Its no secret that its financially desirable to please your consumers thus after this fiasco and as the game director, I hope you actually direct all your teams to reach the community better.
  7. We are still working on many things that need working on but are working on its own but once its finished working, will we be able to work on it to finally bring it into the works and have it working altogether.
