Oglaf.1074
Since they come with pretty crappy stats by default (AFAIK) the only use for them is to unlock the skin, which begs the question if the special damage type/kill animations (Choking) translates to other weapons if you use transmutation stones...? Rising Dusk.2408
That happens for ascended weapons transmuted to legendary skins, so I would expect it to happen here as well.

starlinvf.1358
Check the wiki trivia section. It'll indicate if the damage type is tied to the weapon (most common) or with the Skin itself.

I don't think that info has made it to the wiki yet for the Haunted skins. It'll indicate if the damage type is tied to the weapon (most common) or with the Skin itself. That's the reverse of what's written in the wiki:Damage type is a game mechanic for weapons and attacks. Each weapon has a default damage type determined by its weapon skin (or, rarely, assigned directly to the weapon), and this type can be overridden by attacks from weapon skills that use that weapon. emphasis is mine. That is: any special effects are tied to the skin, rarely to the weapon itself.
