Struder.9286
Hello every one, I have an issue after the DX11 update, I played in the morning before work, went to work, came back clicked the launcher, it downloaded, launcher disappeared , no log in launcher, so I clicked launcher again and I get "This APP can't run on this PC" "To find a version for your PC, check the software publisher." here is a screen shot of desktop https://imgur.com/a/0deMnJP I have looked and I don't see anyone else having this issue. Yolo mouse is the only 3rd party I use. Any ideas?
Ryland.5980
Can you right click on D:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe and choose Properties then choose the Compatibility tab then click "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and leave it on Windows 8. Hit ok and try to run GW2 again?

Ryland.5980
Harumph 🙂 That was my only thought and I have no other ideas as to why windows would be showing that popup. You could try reinstalling or wait until an ANET employee responds and see what troubleshooting ideas they have.
Ryland.5980
Does the windows event viewer show anything about gw2-64.exe? You can search under "Event Viewer" and then click on Windows Logs->Application and Filter Current Log...then probably put gw2-64.exe as a keyword. Struder.9286
Thanks for the help, I hope they see the trouble I'm having as I don't see anyone else with this issue, for windows to not recognize the game only after a update. girdhan.1274
Create a shortcut of the games .exe - enter it's properties - add "-repair“( without the quotes) behind the quotes in the "path" field - hit ok/apply and click the shortcut a window should pop up which says the game is getting repaired

Healix.5819
This can happen when GW2 fails to patch itself, resulting in a 0 byte Gw2-64.exe and the actual one being named Gw2-64.tmp. Simply rename it back to Gw2-64.exe. If you can't find it, here's Gw2-64.exe direct from the patch server (build 120060 - link only valid until the next build). You could alternatively download and rename Gw2Setup-64.exe to Gw2-64.exe. Edited September 23, 2021 by Healix.5819
Struder.9286
Yes my Gw2-64.exe is now Gw2-64.tmp, renamed it, same window.
Tiviana.2650
You have win 10 you also have a message in the message center that may be related to app permissions. Open that and see if gw2 has permission. You can also try right clicking the launcher and running as administrator. One other thing if you have any addons arcdps/reshade/ the dx12 addon anything remove them all from the program files and the game and try again. To be clear, there's always a .exe and a .tmp file in the folder. The one you want should be around 40MB.

I dont think you should rename the launcher to Gw2-64.tmp, I have that but its a TMP file not an exe file my launcher is Gw2-64. Also where is your game located , is it C drive or on another drive? Avissa Moon.5734
If you have Trend Micro, a lot of us were having an issue of it not launching. Then if we uninstalled, Trend Micro kept it from being reinstalled. We turned off Trend Micro. Reinstalled the game. Turned back on Trend Micro and added the program file for GW2 in the exceptions. It worked for quite a few of us. Hope you figure it out!
Struder.9286
Thanks Avissa, I use Norton, it has always had permission to run.
Ryland.5980
I think the original instructions were to rename: gw2-64.exe to gw2-64.old gw2-64.tmp to gw2-64.exe and see if that would fix your launch issue.

Inculpatus cedo.9234
There have been some other threads/posts on this issue, not too long ago. You could try the 'Search' feature and see if there are any solutions that would work for you. As for an official responses...you would likely only receive one if you contacted the Tech CS Team via the 'Support' link above/below. Good luck. Struder.9286
Looks like that's what I'm going to do, but still strange how this update changed everything to not be able to run the game.
