[feedback] GW2 survived the goldseller problem years ago, now we have another problem, what are u doing about that?

its not rare today to see on some points afk farmer, botter where spam attacks in a group, like 10x the same class with autoattacks like golems from the new ingi class, u see here and there "bots" and afk farmer who spam skills in a group while they are not on the keyboard

 

is this realy allowed ? if the answer is YES then it makes a realy realy REALY bad sight to guildwars, for me as guildwars veteran (over 9 years and over 3000 hours) it makes a realy bad feeling to me, it makes a feeling the game have problems and the devs dont fix that, we survived the goldseller problem but now we have a different problem and they should realy do something about that

The short answer is that it depends.
Botting is not allowed
AFK-farming might be allowed

To explain the difference and how it is checked. Botting is when you fully automate gameplay by use of macro's or thirdparty software. This is not allowed and people get banned for this very often

AFK-farming is when you use ingame tools like auto attack and auto loot.
This is allowed as long as you are present at your keyboard. So I had a guildleader who was a bit older then average and she used to do this wile knitting . She was always present at the keyboard and this is allowed.

GM has also made clear how this is checked. When you are suspected of afk-farming when not being present at the keyboard the GM sends you a pm. This is clearly visable in chat as GM's have a seperate color in chat.
When people respond, they must be at the keyboard. When they do not respond, the are not and get actioned.

The first action is that they move you to a harmless spot.
If you keep on doing it, they will take further action.

What can you do as a player?
PM them. Players who do this are not obliged to respond to you, just a GM, but if they do not reply, you can report them so a GM will investigate later on.

The real debate here is wether or not it is harmless.
In essence it is not.
What is harmfull is that there are people who think all of them are botters.

My suggestion would be to edducate reporters by sending them an email. This shows that the report is taken serious. It also helps to explain the difference between AFK-farmers and those who autoattack and autoloot while being present at the keyboard.

and where is the different between botting and afk farming for a guy who spectate them? afk farming with auto skills is like botting and botting is not allowed in that game

 

do we allow player to afk farm or to botting then the game dies, not instant but the time will come

and you base this on?
auto attack has always been in the game and auto loot has been in the game since 2015/2016. Since then this option exist and people have been using it. The game is far from dieing.

It is mostly a niche and not a lot of players do it. It hardly ever bothers me, and at the places it was annoying (like in certain heart area's) steps where taken.

Anyways. you can have your opinion, can I have your stuff please??

A good summary that will, as always, be ignored by those triggered anyways.

What people call AFK farming is only harmful in optics. Given how (not) widespread it is, AFK farming has no appreciable impact on the game's economy. Especially when you consider things like RIBA, AB multiloot, Drizzlewood, etc.

TL,DR: Report and move on. It's not worth anything else.
