Since people are happily playing the game on Twitch, I'm trying a data repair, fun times at 5AM :-).

edit: Nope, the Data repair did not help at all.

 

(First I started the game on Linux like I normally do which led to this exact same crash > disabled my addons > crash > reboot into Windows (angry tomcat noise) > still the same crash > fired up CP 2077 to see if my system hardware is gaming capable - It's all A ok > now repairing my client)


Anyway, I'm using a GTX 1060 3g & my CPU is a 4790k with 16 gigs of ram.

Okay I deleted everything in my GW2 folder and all caches everywhere & started redownloading the game, after it reached playable I immediately started it & now the game runs 😮  (even with arcdps re-enabled, addon folder restored)

Obviously the client repair did not help, it's strange, because I have renamed every dll within the GW2 folder -including subfolders- to .dll_ , so dat file corruption is still the top suspect..

Glad you solved it.  I would suggest next time just delete everything in %AppData%/Guild Wars 2 and %Temp%/gw2cache before wiping the entire game and redownloading.  Those can get full of "cruft" with each patch and tend to be the more frequent sources of strange behavior.

Interesting... I thought it was the game in general, but I tried logging in on my ranger. After I saw your comment I tried logging in on my elementalist, guardian, necromancer, mesmer (crashed when I clicked logout > character select though), revenant and warrior. They all worked just fine. I guess you might be on to something...

I think its something with missing files on my ranger i did a repair and so far so good

After I had logged in on the other characters I tried logging in to the ranger again (cause I want it as the first character in the list 🙃), and then it worked 🤔

I'm a Linux gamer & after relogging into Windows the potentially broken "cruft" should've been out of play..

(seeing someone reacted with a "confused emote", what I mean is that all those folders are separate folders on Linux and Windows, even though I'm running the game itself from the same NTFS folder)

But hey, it's not without a silver lining! I kept carrying over the dat file over new computers, OS installs since 2012 & now the full download is a couple of gigabytes less voluminous 🙂

I had similar issues with at least 4 different errors after the update, including that code. Here are the last 3 things I did (one of them seems to have fixed it): 

1. Deleted (renamed) Local.dat file in C>Users>[username]>AppData>Roaming>Guild Wars 2. Running the game generates a fresh file. The new file the game generated was almost 4 times smaller so something was odd there. Make sure to export keybinds before deleting or renaming. 

2. Delete all contents in AppData>Local>Temp or at least the GW2 related files (I deleted 8 GB of data there)

3. Most likely culprit: Updated BIOS to latest version. I completely forgot to do this before, even knowing DDR5 RAM was supposed to be janky on the new boards till updating the BIOS.
