Soreaf.7469
Hi there team, I've played a lil over the past few years since release but nothing serious and I was just wondering what the heck am I meant to do. I'm getting close to 80 and I'm a lil confused, do I keep following the story even though its locked behind a gate for the 2nd season or do I just jump in there with no knowledge about whats going? Also, I have a couple friends I've been playing with towards 80 and we're kinda confused as to what that means for endgame. Do we need to get serious to finish the story (i.e raid) or can can we just keep "winging it" and see where we end up?On another note I play Ranger and I'm curious to know what a good spec(s) is? Also what kind of weapons and what not. Its very hard to find any info via google. It keeps showing stuff from 2017 and below. I've also looked at reddit. So far I guess condi builds are good? But I have no idea about pets or what gear etc etc.Sorry for the slightly intense post but I figure its for Newbies so its beats doing multiple posts lol. Sagramor.7395
The best part about GW2 is that there's effectively no gear treadmill and endgame is what you make of it. Do whatever you want between Open World (including Living World), Raids, Fractals, Dungeons, PvP, WvW. It's been a while since I leveled a new character, but IIRC the Personal Story only requires a single dungeon run.As for builds there are plenty of resources. Here are a few examples.https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/81yacs/pve_open_world_builds_march_2018/https://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wikihttp://ez.gw2discord.eu/builds.htmlhttps://snowcrows.com/builds/
Soreaf.7469
Thanks man, I appreciate the info. Gives myself and my friends a direction. We've all been kinda going off the cuff lol.
Steve The Cynic.3217
@"Sagramor.7395" said:but IIRC the Personal Story only requires a single dungeon run.Totally correct. The only dungeon you must do as part of the Personal Story (if you want to finish the whole thing) is Victory or Death ("Arah"), and that has been tweaked to be relatively straightforward to solo. Tanner Blackfeather.6509
If you're a group of friends, I'd also recommend playing the dungeon Story Modes - me and my partner 2-manned them all, you'll do fine! It give a bit of extra background before you do Victory or Death.I'm a "follow the story" kind of person, so I recommend doing the story in order, including the LW seasons. As for "end game", there's a lot to choose from. Raids is one option if it suits you, as is Fractals. A lot of players mostly do open world Meta Events and World Bosses. There's also WvW and sPvP. ButcherofMalakir.4067
I adivice to try somevworld bosses, fractals and dungeons. If you like this kind of content then you can try to progress in fractals and eventualy you can try raids but i think you should stay away from them so you are not overwhelmed. As for story i think you can continue zo HoT (if you have it). But before you do yo might get at least exotic gear (orange) since mobs there are much more dangerous. If one of you buy living season 2 then you can play the story together (but only tge one who has it will get the rewards)As for ranger you can either go power (longbow, gs, sword...) Or condi (axe, torch and sb).If you have HoT and want to play more support role then druid might be something for you
Turin.6921
All good advice...But I am surprised none mentioned it yet. Open the hero panel and check the achievements tab. Achievements on this game are very well structured and basically are like questlines. They are a great way to to find worthy goals and give you direction on fun stuff you can do. A full overview on end game you can also find on the wiki. Generally the wiki is a great source of info for the game and many of your questions. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endgame
