Much of the group content in this game does not fit the core of an MMORPG ('massively multiplayer', part of a persistent world), the only bits that even somewhat fit are WvW, the economy, open world PvE, the zone events in things like Silverwastes, HoT zones, etc.

Co-op / normal multiplayer sideshows like fractals, sPvP, etc don't belong in an MMORPG, there are plenty of games out there that provide that.
